Chapter 604 Her Wedding (Part 2)
'Sidney still hasn't accepted Rock.' Winnie thought.
Winnie looked at her son's beautiful clear pupils. She was full of worries.
She smiled softly, refraining from kissing her son's face due to her makeup. Speaking gently, she said, "Sidney, Rock likely won't change his mind. I sense that. Otherwise, Mommy wouldn't have married him."
"You don't truly know him!" Sidney responded anxiously.
Winnie calmed down. Her cherry lips moved slightly. She leaned close to her son's ear, revealing the truth. Sidney, I need to marry Rock. It's the only way Oscar can return to us. Do you understand?"
Sidney froze, his eyes widening suddenly.
'Oscar? So, Mommy is making a deal with someone. Who is it? Ishara!' Sidney thought.
Winnie continued, For Oscar's sake, we all need to come together and support each other. As I've mentioned before, I married Rock because I truly love him. Can you try to let go of it and just relax?"
Supported by a stylist, Winnie stood up and walked towards the full-length mirror.
Sidney's small body remained stunned in immense shock.
Olivia's face turned pale as she finished reading the text message. With a loss of composure in her expression, she walked over and lifted her phone. "Jeremy messaged me, Winnie... be prepared. Lawrence is on the plane and heading over," she said.
Winnie's mind went blank for a moment, her breath as if someone had choked her throat in an instant.
The color drained from her face; she deliberately avoided asking about this person's message. Wasn't he always in Dreamland?
"What should we do?" Olivia started to panic, muttering as if facing a formidable enemy. "Jeremy messaged at ten, so from that point, it would take Lawrence at least two and a half hours to reach Lymington. If he hurries, he could easily locate our hotel. The wedding ceremony might still be ongoing. If he barges in, I can't even begin to imagine the chaos..."
"Then let's hold the wedding ceremony early!"
Rock entered the room clad in a white suit. He exuded a tall, elegant, and strikingly handsome presence as he made his way over to Winnie, taking her hand and stating, "I will notify the hotel. The ceremony is scheduled for 11:18.
Winnie frowned and asked, "Is this okay? Rock, the guests haven't arrived yet, have they? Your parents are already somewhat displeased with me."
"It's nothing! I've only invited family and close friends." Rock reassured her, gently patting her shoulder, and said, "As for my parents, you don't need to worry at all. We're getting married. What else can they say?"
Rock continued, Three years ago, our engagement ceremony was disrupted, and there might be some gossip from my relatives about you, Winnie. Please don't pay it any mind. Additionally, I have invited numerous reporters to the wedding hotel. We are not keeping our marriage a secret from anyone; I had intended to celebrate it grandly. Even if Lawrence were to appear, he wouldn't be able to shamelessly intrude and steal someone's bride in public! Remember, you are now a married woman, Winnie. Have you forgotten that we went to the county office this morning? I will even showcase our marriage certificate on a large screen during the ceremony!"
Winnie was stunned, not expecting Rock to be so meticulous, and he didn't intend to be discreet or hide anything.
She felt that, according to common sense, no man could publicly steal someone else's wife.
But Lawrence... she clenched her cold fingertips tightly. She had witnessed his madness and ruthlessness.
She really didn't know if he would do something so unimaginable!
'Why couldn't he just bid a decent farewell to their shared history?' Winnie thought.
Her heart was a chaotic, cold mess, a flicker of spite slipping through her eyes.
Olivia saw her expression and comforted her as Rock walked out. "Maybe Lawrence has let go and just wants to see you one last time."
In fact, Olivia didn't believe that herself!
Olivia sighed, "It's fate. You got tangled up with him in one move, agreed to marry him for a year, and then left with your son in misery. He transformed into Lawrence, and his possessiveness towards you became even more extreme. He can manage without you—just end things! But you, you can't seem to let go of him. Why can't you break free from him?"
Tears welled up in Winnie's eyes. If this time she couldn't escape his trap, she would fight him to death!
Did he know that his appearance, his obstruction, would cost Oscar his life?
Thinking about it, she hated him so much.
She was truly tired of his entanglement, all the ruthless and coercive means!
Exactly eleven o'clock.
The Harrington family's relatives and friends gradually arrived at the wedding banquet hall, curious about the bride and eager to see her.
Beneath the opulent crystal chandelier, Winnie stepped out from behind the flowers. She wore crystal high heels and a wedding dress as white as a swan, with a modest train and a simple style. The gown featured a few diamonds hand-picked by Rock and set at the chest, shimmering to enhance her radiant face. With a single captivating glance, she appeared exquisitely beautiful.
She was elegant and noble.
There were gasps from the crowd, and even many female guests were stunned.
"This is, kinda, too stunning," someone murmured from the crowd.
"It's Rock's style, the woman he chose has a remarkably beautiful face and an exceptional figure!" another male voice chimed in.
"Hmph, I've been observing for a while now. Isn't she just that Winnie from the past?" A high-society lady's voice cut through the crowd's chatter.
Mrs. Harrington's eyes landed on Winnie's delicate visage, immediately turning cold.
Those who didn't understand were curious and asked, "Is the bride named Winnie? Is she famous?"
The wealthy woman glanced at Mrs. Harrington, and seeing no objection from her, couldn't resist making a sarcastic remark about Winnie, "Rock's new bride is certainly beautiful, but the only flaw is that she's been married before. Back then... cough, I'm not trying to gossip about the Harrington family, but three years ago at Rock's engagement ceremony, we were all present. Winnie released those photos, and you rejected her right then and there. How is it that after all these years, Rock has chosen her as his wife?
The relatives' expressions varied.
Next to Mrs. Harrington stood a lovely young woman who shot Winnie a scornful look, her jealousy palpable. She remarked, "Rock, now a prominent and rising entrepreneur in Trento City, has relocated all of the Harrington family's extensive enterprises there. He is set to become the foremost tycoon in the nation. Mrs. Harrington, as a mere accessory, is not at all suited to our Rock!" Mrs. Harrington not only felt inadequate herself.
A few days ago, when she saw Winnie arrive in Lymington with her son, she was at her wit's end!
But Rock was single-minded, no matter how many years she tried to persuade him.
As for this girl named Sierra, who was nearby, Mrs. Harrington had tried to match her with Rock multiple times. She herself is quite satisfied with this prospective daughter-in-law, but Rock didn't want her!
Sierra, that's enough," Mrs. Harrington stated firmly. "A mother can't dictate her adult son's choices. I apologize for taking up your precious youth. Let go of Rock. I don't care who he decides to marry, whoever it may be. This Winnie has completely enchanted him, to the point that it's caused me numerous heart palpitations." Mrs. Harrington shot a cold look at Winnie, muttering resentfully.
