Chapter 409 Searching for Oscar

"Lawrence brought someone named Jeremy with him. They located the abandoned car lot, but we're unsure where they found the initial clue. I just spoke with Peter; he left the child in Trento City and abandoned the black car in a deserted lot, but they haven't had the opportunity to destroy it yet!" Claire reported to Ishara, her voice tinged with panic. Ishara's gaze turned sharp as she looked over. "We must hide the child. Peter hasn't been very effective in handling this. How many abandoned car lots are there in Trento City?"  "There are probably dozens," Claire replied.  Ishara took a deep breath and calmly said, "In that case, they will have a hard time finding it. We'll create an opportunity for Peter to quietly dismantle the car and turn it into scrap metal. Then they won't have any leads."  On the other hand, Lawrence received a message from Ishara adorned with an adorable emoji. It read, "Lawrence, I'm home now. Are you working diligently in Lymington?" However, he didn’t reply. Standing in the abandoned car lot, Jeremy removed his gloves and walked over to Lawrence. "I utilized my connections to check the road surveillance in Trento City. I found the unlicensed black car which received its license plate once it arrived in Trento City and was driven nearby. However, there are two abandoned car lots nearby, each with tens of thousands of scrapped vehicles. It will take some time to investigate each one thoroughly."  Lawrence furrowed his brows and instructed, "Keep searching. Once we find the black car, we'll find Oscar's fingerprints and the person who licensed it." He then turned around, walking away.  Jeremy followed, glancing at Lawrence's expression and teased him, saying, "So, how does it feel to return to the Rodriguez family, the heir of Trento City?"  "It's like a dangerous mission," Lawrence replied.  Jeremy furrowed his brow as he scoffed, remarking, "Being Lawrence mustn’t be easy. You haven't even entered the company yet, and you're already faced with imminent dangers. What will it be like once you enter the public eye?" "I don't think Mars will be easy to deal with. Anyways, we'll go tomorrow," Lawrence replied without any change in his expression.  Jeremy could only give a thumbs-up in response. The two returned to the hotel, where Lawrence took off his tie and contacted Dr. Moore to inquire about his mother's condition.  Afterwards, he replied to the Ishara's earlier message, simply stating, "I'm in Trento City."  The girl's immediate response was filled with surprise. "Lawrence, why are you in Trento City? Are you here on a business trip?"  "My family is also in Trento City. When can we find time to meet?" she added.  Lawrence paused for a moment, his fingers hesitating to reply. At that moment, Dr. Moore's medical report came in, which read, "Mr. L, considering your mother's nosebleeds, she will need a blood transfusion within the next two weeks."   Before replying to Dr. Moore, he sent a short text to Ishara, saying, "We can meet anytime."  He then returned to Dr. Moore's message and responded, "Sure. But give me these two days. I'll decline the arranged marriage proposal. I like to keep my feelings clean and simple. Then let's have a proper date set for the transfusion."  After he finished texting, Lawrence sighed deeply then furrowed his brows, while staring at Sidney's Facebook page, lost in his own thoughts.  Meanwhile, in Lymington., at the hospital, the TV was broadcasting news of Lawrence's return to the Rodriguez family, now with an even higher status.  Darcy couldn't help but feel a strong sense of bitterness. If it wasn't for Winnie, her wedding would have gone smoothly, and she would already be Mrs. L. Her current predicament was all caused by Winnie.  Ishara probably knew Lawrence's true identity as Lawrence of the Rodriguez family and schemed accordingly. No one in the Blanchet family, both mother and daughter, were to be underestimated.  Suddenly, her phone rang, displaying Mrs. Ordelia's name. "Daughter, didn't you ask me to keep an eye on Winnie? I received some news today. Carlos went back to Trento City alone. It seems that Winnie didn't agree to go back to the Blanchet family."  Darcy frowned and asked, "She's willingly giving up luxury and wealth?" A cold smile flashed across her lips as she contemplated that this was not the script she had imagined.  Compared to Ishara, she undoubtedly hated Winnie more. Winnie was a despicable woman who had been competing with her for Lawrence from the very beginning, inflicting considerable harm upon her, including the forcible removal of her kidney.  After a moment of silence, Darcy smirked. She had a plan, and immediately sent a text message to someone.  Winnie had just finished her work and planned to pick up Sidney when she received a message from Darcy: "Don't you want to talk about the photos I sent you? And about your son? Come to the hospital and see me."  She didn't really care about discussing the photos since Darcy only sent them to provoke her. But when Winnie's gaze fell on the word "son," her heart tightened. Regardless of Darcy's tricks, she had to go.  Outside the room, guarding the entrance, were Lawrence's bodyguards. Darcy was being questioned by the police daily. She was basically under house arrest.  Winnie knocked on the door and entered. Darcy, who no longer had her usual refined appearance, was leaning against the headboard, looking pitiful. Winnie understood that this appearance was designed to seduce Ray.  Thinking of Laura, Winnie warned coldly, "You better not seduce Ray again. While I can't let you die, it won't be a problem for me to let you suffer while you're alive."  "I've already told you; I don't feel well. So, don't expect to find out where your son is," Darcy arrogantly said and patted the chair beside her. "Besides, Winnie, you better worry about yourself first. I heard you're the illegitimate daughter of Carlos from Trento City. Having wealth, prestige, and inheritance rights, yet you don't want to return to the Blanchet family. I really don't know whether to call you stupid or pathetic."  Winnie was aware that Darcy was keeping tabs on her. She glared at Darcy and retorted, "Even when lying in the hospital, you still can't stop watching me. Thanks for your concern."  "You're welcome. I just have some secrets that I can't help but share with you. Want to hear them or not?"  Winnie squinted her eyes, not showing any reaction. She wanted to see what kind of scheme Darcy had.  Darcy smiled playfully and said, "Don't regard me with such suspicion. Today, I'm playing the role of a good person. I want to tell you that your birth mother, Irene, was killed by Carlos's current wife. If I were you and wanted to find out the truth, I would stir up trouble by returning to the Blanchet family."  Winnie's expression changed suddenly, recalling George's speculation in the morning. She pondered and decided to deceive Darcy. "Where did you hear this news? The Granger family was taken over by the Ordelia family. Are you trying to shift the blame to someone else?"  "I didn't!" Darcy became anxious. Seeing Winnie's unwavering gaze, she quickly defended herself, "Both the Ordelia family and I have been ruined by you. Do I still need to shift the blame to someone else? What's the point? Your mother was really killed by Mrs. Blanchet. My mother told me herself. When the Granger family went bankrupt, she knew it best. She said Mrs. Blanchet was responsible; not me or the Ordelia family. I assure you that is the truth! If you don't believe me, listen to the recording." Winnie's mind was overwhelmed. She proceeded to the listen to the recording and Mrs. Ordelia's tone sounded genuine, her words implying that the Ordelia family took advantage of Mrs. Blanchet. When her mother and Carlos broke up, Mrs. Blanchet took the opportunity, and the timing and motive were right.  George had mentioned that at that time, her mother received a call from Trento City, which infuriated her to the point of a heart attack. It seemed evident that apart from Mrs. Blanchet herself, no one else could have angered her mother to such an extent.

Winnie clenched her fists, her sharp gaze suddenly directed at Darcy.   She got up, grabbed Darcy by the neck, and pushed her down on the edge of the bed. With a cold smile, she asked, "I don't believe you would kindly tell me these things. What is your end game here?!"  Darcy's expression changed slightly.
