Chapter 120 It's exposed

"What brings you here?" Ava, her ribs and leg bones broken, had been healing for a long time, resulting in a significant weight loss. She looked at Winnie with a mix of hatred and fear in her eyes.

Winnie raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Step outside for a moment, I have something to discuss with you."

"You wouldn't have any ulterior motives, would you?" Ever since Mr. L had inflicted this damage on her, Ava had grown wary of Winnie.

Winnie dangled a tempting lure, "Aren't you still interested in the matter of Triton shares?"

Sure enough, Ava followed her out of the hospital room, seething with resentment.

Winnie glanced up at the building. L's private room was on the eighth floor, while Ava stayed on the fourth floor in the orthopedics department. Winnie calculated that Darcy should be coming out soon.

She led Ava upstairs.

When they reached the elevator on the sixth floor, Winnie pretended to answer a phone call and asked Ava to wait for a moment. She walked around the corner.

The elevator doors slid open, and with a quick glance, Ava caught sight of Darcy inside the elevator!

Given the news of her spot being revoked in the competition, Ava was deeply anxious. Her mother had been trying to contact Darcy for the past two days, but she didn't respond to them at all.

Unexpectedly, they crossed paths right here. Ava gathered her courage and stepped into the elevator.

Darcy's eyes bore a warning.

When the elevator reached the first floor, Ava quickly hurried out, followed closely by Winnie

As they turned a corner, Darcy paused and turned her face, her apricot eyes icy cold.

Ava approached cautiously and pleaded softly, "Darcy..."

Her gaze turned steely, and Ava quickly brought up the issue, "It seems like I might be losing my spot in the finals of the jewelry competition! You promised to help me win..."

Darcy remained cautious, casting glances around before falling silent, offering nothing more than an impatient nod.

Ava felt a weight lift off her shoulder. Darcy had the power to help her. She let go of her worries.

Darcy swiftly departed.

Upon returning to the sixth floor, Ava found Winnie nowhere in sight. Unbeknownst to Ava, Winnie was already with Olivia, reviewing the surveillance footage.

The footage provided a clear view of Darcy's face and showed Ava talking to her.

"This Darcy is cunning. Since she did not say anything, if we show this footage to L, it won't prove that she sent Ava to target you, leading to your arrest!"

Winnie nodded. She had set up this trap just to prove Darcy's connection with Ava. She had a plan to make Ava confess to the things Darcy had asked her to do.

"Olivia, go gather a group of thugs. Tomorrow night...I want to use them!"

Late at night the following night, Olivia brought the thugs in.

Winnie instructed them to split into two groups, one to kidnap Ava from the hospital and the other to kidnap Sophia from the Anderson family.

Mother and daughter were suddenly abducted, thoroughly bewildered. In a secluded warehouse, they were subjected to brutal beatings, consumed by terror.

Winnie had instructed these men to pretend to be Darcy's henchmen.

Sophia, ever astute, immediately suspected that Ava might be behind this, making demands to Darcy at the hospital and inadvertently antagonizing him. She didn't want to help them anymore. Holding substantial power, she perceived them as obstacles and potentially sought to eliminate them permanently.
Sophia's face turned ashen.

They were just the Anderson family from Lymington. It was too easy for Winnie Anderson to deal with these two pawns.

Winnie had her henchmen continue to intimidate them, purposely leaving behind a cellphone for the mother and daughter.

Their mounting frustration pushed Sophia to crawl and reach for the phone, dialing a number with force.

In the meantime, Olivia swiftly intercepted the call, deliberately allowing the phone to connect.

Sophia clutched the phone, her voice quivering with fear, "Darcy, why are you treating us like this!"

"Darcy, you've gone too far. Do not think that just because you're from Trento City, we'll let you control us. It was you and August who first approached us. You promised to aid Ava in the resurrection contest, to deal with Winnie. You also orchestrated the manipulation of the Harrington family and instructed Ava to harm Winnie at the police station and assault her in the detention center... It was all you... We became your helpers, but you want us dead. It won't be so simple!"

Winnie instructed Olivia to record all their conversations.

The mother and daughter confessed everything.

She collected the evidence and Olivia asked her, "What should we do with this mother and daughter?"

Winnie’s eyes narrowed as she replied, "Let the thugs tell them the truth, that Darcy didn't actually kidnap them."

"Winnie, what do you mean?" Olivia was baffled. "Won't this realization prompt the mother and daughter to expose our deception and potentially run to Darcy in panic?"

Winnie smiled, "If they do go to expose us, that's even better."

Why would that be "better"? Once Darcy finds out that we have the evidence, she will come after you!

Olivia didn't understand Winnie's plan, but she heard Winnie make a phone call to Laura, asking, "Does Darcy possess any expertise in jewelry design?"

Laura confirmed that Darcy indeed had skills in jewelry design, coming from a family of medical professionals.

Therefore, she also knew traditional Chinese medicine. After relocating to Lymington, she contributed to her beloved man’s company and quickly established herself as both a socialite and a successful businesswoman.

It appears there are some parallels between her and me.

Winnie handed over the "design draft" that Ava had given back to Olivia. "Examine it quickly. Darcy doesn't usually create her own drafts; she buys them, which must leave behind some traces."

The following day, Winnie visited the hospital room to meet Luke and inquire about recent occurrences at Imperial Estate, including the incident involving a worker's death in the seaside bay project in Z City.

They engaged in a lengthy conversation outside, during which Luke glared discontentedly at the window.

Meanwhile, Darcy was signing documents for Luke, wearing a faint smile. "Mrs. L and Luke seem to be engrossed in a deep conversation. I wonder what they're talking about?"

Winnie and Luke turned and went back into the room.

Mr. L’s expression darkened. "Are you so engrossed in conversation with another man in my while I’m present?"

"...," Winnie was momentarily speechless. He really sensitive.

Luke was about to say something about the content of their conversation when Winnie timely interrupted him and walked over to give the man a massage.

"I was discussing you with my assistant. What were you imagining?"

L’s icy gaze conveyed skepticism as he snorted. "Do you believe I'm so easily appeased? You've been acting mysteriously lately, frequently unavailable, and sneaking around with Olivia. I’m curious about what you’ve been occupied with."

Darcy looked at Winnie with a slightly startled expression.

Winnie had intended to reveal her true intentions to Darcy. Unexpectedly, Mr. L unknowingly brought up the topic. She lifted her head and gave Darcy a composed smile.

That smile made Darcy's heart skip a beat and inexplicably gave her a sense of unease.

L glanced at Winnie and reminded her, "I’m being discharged this afternoon, so don't run away. Before that, come with me for a four-month check-up."

"Right, im nearly finished with my tasks as well." Winnie cast a look at Darcy.

That look furrowed Darcy's brows.

Darcy left the hospital room, a nagging sense of unease about Winnie's expression weighed on her. She pondered on it and was about to find her assistant, Jeffrey.

Suddenly, Jeffrey called her. "Darcy, something happened to Ava and her mother. They're looking for you. Should I answer the call?"

To distance herself, Darcy had always tasked her assistant, Jeffrey, to oversee communication with Sophia.

Darcy's gaze shifted anxiously, and her complexion changed slightly. "Wasn't Ava in the hospital all along? What could have happened?"

"She said she was kidnapped last night."

Darcy's almond-shaped eyes widened, and she felt even more uneasy. "Transfer the call to me!"
