Chapter 415 Taking the Initiative to Contact Him
Lawrence also didn't expect that his business transaction partner would become his fiancée. Indeed, Bob's proposal now made sense. He himself didn't have any feelings about it, as long as the "donor" was Ishara, and most importantly, her physical condition.
The man observed the girl and asked, "How's your body been lately? I'll arrange for a nutritionist to take care of you."
"Lawrence, are you arranging a blood transfusion for your mother?" she asked abruptly, not addressing his question directly, showing her concern.
Lawrence nodded solemnly and replied, "She needs a blood transfusion within the next two weeks."
"Sorry, Lawrence. My body might not meet the requirements yet, but I'll try to eat more," she said with a pale face, her tone slightly anxious, which caused her to cough.
Lawrence thought that her body was too weak. Frowning, he said, "Ishara, it's a bit inconvenient, but you may need to increase your food intake to facilitate multiple blood transfusions in a day. The doctors are hoping you'll rest and eat more to accommodate this. Try to maintain a calm mindset. I understand, you have to be happy."
"Speaking of happiness, if you can make time to accompany me on our first date today, I would be extremely happy," she pleaded like a child.
Lawrence sighed inwardly, knowing that he had to play his part. Even though she was already terminally ill, he had to fulfill their agreement. And taking care of Ishara was like taking care of his own mother. He nodded coolly and replied, "All right. Let's go for lunch first. You have to eat well and fully for every meal."
"Then let's go!" Ishara excitedly exclaimed as she slowly stood up, her weak demeanor resembling a delicate willow in the wind. "I have never eaten out before, I'm so excited. Let's choose a place first."
At noon, the private plane approached for landing. Taking advantage of Sidney's sleep, Carlos glanced meaningfully at his grandson and said, "Winnie, don't be mad but I have privately investigated about your life. And I am very fond of this little grandson of mine.
"Also, the reason I urgently requested your return to Trento City a few days ago was to advocate for the alliance with the Rodriguez family on your behalf. Initially, when Bob Rodriguez and I agreed to the alliance, the Blanchet family only had Ms. Ishara. However, with your return, I propose changing it to you marrying into the Rodriguez family."
Winnie didn't react for a moment.
Carlos smirked and changed the topic, asking, "This child's biological father, is it Lawrence?"
Winnie blushed momentarily, nodding.
"So, is Lawrence the current one?"
Winnie froze, biting her lip as she looked at Carlos.
Carlos patted her hand, reassured her, saying, "Don't worry, as long as you still want Lawrence, Dad will go against all opinions for you."
Winnie's emotions grew complicated. Carlos had secretly investigated so much about her and was even considering her marriage. Perhaps he was willing to offend his current wife and daughter for her sake.
A different warmth flashed through her heart. Maybe this time when she returned to the Blanchet family, she would be able to feel the long-lost fatherly love.
Winnie looked at Carlos and responded, "Dad, I don't know yet..." Her expression showed a hint of daughterly shyness.
Carlos chuckled. "I've been through it before. Your mom and I used to argue so much that our feelings only grew stronger, but fate played a cruel trick on us." His expression dimmed significantly.
At that moment, the plane had landed, and Carlos had his assistant arrange a private car. "Winnie, the Blanchet Mansion is at Camellia Mount. It will take about an hour and a half to get there."
"Dad, I actually have booked a hotel with my secretary. I'll just take Sidney to the hotel first."
"Isn't the child coming home with us?"
Winnie didn't know the depth of the situation with the Blanchet family yet, so she wouldn't dare to bring Sidney with her.
This was Winnie's consideration, and Carlos seemed to have noticed her cautiousness toward the unfamiliar family. With a light sigh, he didn't insist and nodded in agreement, only saying, "You rest with Sidney first. Dad's car will come to pick you up at 6 o'clock in the afternoon. It's your first time going home, and maybe your grandparents will come too, so it should be more formal."
Winnie nodded her head, agreeing to what Carlos had suggested.
In the upscale restaurant, Ishara leaned against the restroom door and answered the phone. It was her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Blanchet on the other end, speaking through gritted teeth, "Ishara, your father brought that little slut back on a private plane. How grand! Tonight, they will bring her to the Blanchet family and acknowledge her as one of their own. Are you currently with Lawrence? You know what to do, right?"
Ishara let out a light cough and smiled slyly. "So, the illegitimate daughter has returned to Trento City? Of course, I know what to do."
After Ishara finished speaking, Eleanor then coldly hung up the phone.
Ishara walked out of the restroom, almost breathless as she approached the elegant dining table. Lawrence stood up and had to support her, saying, "Is it always like this even when you go to the restroom? Your body…"
"Yes, I can't be away from people even for a moment." Ishara flashed a bitter smile and then raised her head, asking, "Lawrence, can you come with me to meet my parents today?"
Lawrence's expression slightly froze.
Ishara explained with bitterness, "Coincidentally, both my mom and dad are at home today, and it's also our first official date. I've been sick since childhood, and my parents probably know that my life won't be long. I want to bring you home to establish our relationship and deceive them into being happy."
In this situation, he couldn't refuse. He had to fulfill the contents of their marriage agreement. Lawrence nodded.
"Great, I'm so happy Lawrence. Let's go for a stroll first, and then pick a gift for my parents."
Lawrence's phone was ringing, but he didn't pay much attention. He waved his hand for the driver to help Ishara into the car. When he saw the number on the phone screen, his heart suddenly skipped a beat, and he took a step to the side. Winnie suddenly sent him a text message.
In the hotel room, after Winnie put the sleeping Sidney down, she ordered lunch. The view of Trento City outside the floor-to-ceiling window made her feel unfamiliar, and there was always a slight discomfort in her empty heart.
In the midst of her confusion, she naturally thought of someone she was familiar with in Trento City, Lawrence. The words of Madam Rodriguez played one after another in her ears, giving Winnie some courage. As for whether she should take the initiative to contact him, she had already come up with an answer in her heart the previous night. Winnie bit her lip as she sat down, her mind heating up. Her fingers slowly moved as she typed: "I am in Trento City."
Upon receiving Winnie's message, Lawrence's mind went blank, immediately causing a stir. He wondered why would she come to Trento City so suddenly.
His heartbeat fluctuated, his breath heavy and his eyes gloomy. He asked her: "What are you doing in Trento City?"
Winnie frowned slightly as she looked at Lawrence's reply, noting its coldness. It seemed as though this man still misunderstood her and Rock, and perhaps he was unhappy. She pouted, unable to explain for a moment, and coldly texted back: "Trento City is not your home. I have my own private matters too."
Lawrence stood on the artistic street, while Ishara was searching for a pottery workshop. She had a charming look, as if she were deeply enamored.
Suddenly, his heart sank. A glimmer of darkness flickered in Lawrence's eyes as he typed with his slender fingers, more cautious and hesitant than ever: "Do you have something to discuss?"
Winnie: "I have some free time this afternoon. Can we... meet and talk?"
After sending the message, Winnie placed her phone against her chest, her heartbeat pounding so loudly that the screen was slightly vibrating. She cursed inwardly at herself for being so nervous. Clearly, it wasn't her fault that they argued.
Perhaps she was voluntarily giving him a chance to reveal his reconciliatory thoughts. She felt a bit annoyed, uncertain, and awkward.
She mulled over Madam Rodriguez's advice, Oscar's concern for Lawrence, and Madam Rodriguez's reassurance that those photos were all misunderstandings. Even Carlos seemed to have seen through her thoughts, attempting to arrange a marriage for her.
If Lawrence still harbored love for her deep inside, and if their argument truly caused him heartbreak and landed him in the hospital, then she was willing to give their relationship one final chance.
Winnie bit her lip, as she waited a long time for his reply. Just as she was about to put down her phone, it slowly vibrated.
