Chapter 955 Darcy Appears

Jeremy rushed to the scene as fast as he could. The neighborhood was in the old part of town, a cluster of tightly packed houses with narrow streets. When he arrived, he found the road completely blocked.

Many residents were woken up by the commotion in the middle of the night. They gathered at the entrance, whispering and discussing the situation loudly.

The police sirens wailed continuously, and the flashing red lights indicated that something serious had happened in one of the old buildings.

Jeremy stepped out of his car, his tall frame tense with concern.

One of his subordinates surveyed the crowd and asked, "Mr. DeRoss, should I send someone to disperse these people?"

"It's too late for that," Jeremy replied, shaking his head. With the police already inside, safety was somewhat assured.

He needed to find out if the little girl they found was Mia and who the woman who called the police was.

Jeremy pushed through the crowd, ducked under the police tape, and rushed inside.

More people were gathered around a car that had crashed into a wall. It was a black van, its front end smashed.

Several police officers were arresting two men from the van, while traffic cops and paramedics were questioning someone nearby.

In the light from the apartment windows, Jeremy saw a small figure on a stretcher, attended by a female officer and paramedics.

The child's long hair fell to one side, revealing a delicate, round face.

"Mia?" Jeremy's eyes widened in shock. He hurried over, calling her name, "Mia!"

He pushed the paramedics aside and knelt by the stretcher, his hands trembling as he gently brushed the hair from her face.

Her face was covered in blood, her nose scraped, and there was a cut near her eye.

It was his daughter.

"Mia?" Jeremy's voice shook. He wanted to touch her face, but hesitated, his fingers curling back. He placed a hand on her small shoulder and gently shook her, "Mia, it's Daddy. Please wake up... Mia."

"Sir, please!" A paramedic approached cautiously, "The child is unconscious. She has a mild concussion and seems to be in shock. She also has severe injuries."

Jeremy, towering over the stretcher, cast a shadow that made the scene even more somber.

Realizing he was in the way, he stepped back, holding Mia's cold, small hand, "I'm sorry. Please continue treating her."

The paramedics resumed their work, cleaning Mia's wounds.

Jeremy glanced around and saw two police officers questioning someone nearby.

He remembered what the paramedic had said, "Was it that woman who saved my child?"

He pointed.

The paramedic nodded.

Jeremy's expression darkened as he walked over.

"Ms. Ordelia, what time did you find the girl in the van? Was it here in the neighborhood?" one officer asked.

"No, it wasn't..."

Jeremy heard a soft voice and pushed past the officer to see the woman's face.

His eyes widened in surprise, then narrowed in suspicion.

The woman who saved Mia was Darcy?

Jeremy stared at Darcy, unable to believe his eyes.

"Wait a minute, officer," he interrupted.

The officers turned to him, immediately respectful, "Mr. DeRoss."

Darcy looked up, her eyes widening in surprise, "Jeremy?"

Jeremy ignored her. The memory of what Darcy had done to Winnie and Lawrence was still fresh, filling him with anger.

He turned to the officers, "You don't need to question her. Arrest her."

The officers hesitated, glancing at Darcy, who had just saved a child, "But Mr. DeRoss, this woman discovered the kidnappers and saved the girl."

"She couldn't have saved my child," Jeremy said coldly.

Darcy looked hurt, "I just returned to Lymington and was staying here for a couple of nights. I saw the child tied up in the van and called the police. I led the van into the neighborhood to trap the kidnappers. Jeremy, I didn't even know it was Olivia's child. I have no reason to harm you. Why are you arresting me?"

Jeremy scoffed, "Darcy, you were always a schemer. I don't believe you just happened to save Mia. You must be working with the kidnappers."

"Arrest her," he ordered.

The officers, intimidated, moved to comply.

Suddenly, a voice called out, "Hold on!"

Jeremy turned to see Ray hurrying over, followed by Olivia and Winnie.

Both women saw Darcy and reacted with shock. Olivia turned to Winnie, "Is that Darcy?"

"Darcy... is it really you?" Ray asked, his eyes locking onto Darcy with a mix of emotions.
