Chapter 679 Sierra's Reluctance

"I'm just your little sidekick, Grandma. I know you ain't really gonna crash at the Rodriguez Estate. I'll cover for you when the time comes. Grandpa got the perks for free, not even knowing that you are the one supporting him," Oscar said.

With a hint of embarrassment, Melissa replied, "Good boy, keep it on the down-low."

"Got it! Grandma, I'll walk you out," Oscar said as they quietly slipped out of the lounge.

Winnie came out of the restroom, about to find Rock in the parking lot when she suddenly spotted a familiar figure.

She peeked out, "Oscar?"

Oscar froze when she called out.

Winnie was immediately surprised and certain, quickly walking over and asking, "Oscar! Why'd you come to the auction without telling me?"

"Grandma, you should go," Oscar whispered, nudging Melissa towards the driver.

Not wanting Winnie to catch on and make things awkward for Oscar, Melissa quickly jogged towards a car.

But Winnie still recognized Melissa's back and frowned, "Oscar, was that your grandma? She..."

"No way, that wasn't Grandma! I just bumped into an old lady and helped her up," Oscar lied without missing a beat.

Winnie squinted, remembering when she ran into Melissa in the hallway earlier, and Melissa had said to Bob, "Because my grandson wanted to come and play, I brought him here. I didn't see anything."

'Grandson...' she thought.

Winnie stared into Oscar's eyes, suddenly grabbing his small backpack and opening it to find a computer.

He was a top-notch little hacker.

She then connected the dots, recalling the synthesized voice of the buyer she had heard earlier.

Winnie's mind shivered, and she asked in disbelief, "Oscar, are you the mysterious buyer?"

"I..." Oscar hesitated.

"If it's not you, then it's your grandma, right?" Winnie pointed at Oscar, cornering him with her sharpness.

'Can she not be so sharp? Oh well, it's her sharpness that makes me so brilliant,' Oscar thought.

He squinted and smiled, lowering his head without saying a word.

"This is no small matter. You're going against Ronnie. Spill it!" Winnie anxiously pinched his ear.

"Okay, I'll tell," Oscar surrendered, whispering in her ear, "Grandma spent a hundred billion dollars to buy Grandpa's estate. That's all the money my bad dad saved for her, money that can't be touched. But Grandma couldn't stand seeing Grandpa being bullied, so she helped him. Now Ronnie must think the buyer is very powerful, probably puzzled, never guessing that Grandma helped her own family. I think Grandma really likes Grandpa."

Winnie didn't expect him to start spilling the tea about the private matters of Bob and Melissa.

She turned speechless, hiding her shock and pretending to be calm, and said, "Keep your mouth shut about this. If Ronnie finds out about your grandma, she might be in danger."

"Got it." Oscar pushed her and said with a smile, "Mommy, you're really good to Grandma, genuinely kind to her."

Winnie ruffled his hair and said, "Don't change the subject. You sneaking out to help your grandma could put you in danger, understand? Does Sidney know about this?"

"He knows," Oscar admitted, "He is the one who encouraged me to help the Rodriguez family."

Winnie was speechless, knowing Sidney was always thinking of ways to help Lawrence.

'These two little rascals,' she thought.

Winnie's phone buzzed. It was Rock, gently nudging, "Winnie, why aren't you ready yet? Everything cool?"

Winnie rolled her eyes, thinking, 'If Oscar shows up, will Rock get suspicious?'

Oscar caught on, not wanting Rock to catch wind of anything either. After all, tonight, Rock was one of the folks driving the price down, and Oscar was pretty bummed about it. Seemed like Rock was trying to cozy up to Ronnie.

"Mommy, I'll head back on my own. Grabbing a cab is no biggie. See you at home." With that, Oscar waved and slipped away while Winnie instructed the bodyguard lurking in the shadows, "Make sure Oscar's safe."

"Yes, Miss."

Winnie then headed towards the parking lot.

Melanie, clutching her bag, stood a bit away from Bentley. Seeing Winnie, she let out a sigh of relief and quickly said to Bentley, "Mr. Jenkins, Winnie is here. No need to trouble you to take me."

Bentley shot Winnie a displeased look.

"Alright, Ms. Stewart, see you next time." He said, glaring at Winnie before turning away with a sour face.

Winnie thought, 'It's not like I meant to mess up your flirting with Melanie.'

She walked over, speechless, as Rock got out of the car. At that moment, someone else got out of the back seat—it was Sierra again.

Sierra, holding her bag, smiled slightly, "Ms. Anderson, I left my bag in Mr. Harrington's car, so I came to get it."

Winnie nodded distantly, then turned to Rock, "If it's convenient, we can give Ms. Brooks a ride."

Rock subtly adjusted his sleeve and glanced at Sierra, saying indifferently, "She's just my secretary. She can get back on her own."

Sierra's eyes, full of hope and challenge, dimmed, and she clutched her bag tightly.

She forced a smile, "Yes, Mr. Harrington. Thank you, Ms. Anderson, but it's easy for me to get a cab."

Melanie frowned at Sierra, feeling she was acting to gain attention.

'Why is she speaking so ambiguously and looking at Rock like that? Rock is Winnie's husband now. Doesn't she know to avoid suspicion?' she thought.

"Winnie, let's get in Mr. Harrington's car!" Melanie said deliberately.

As Rock's car drove away, Sierra stood there, staring at the back of the car, annoyed.

She thought to herself, 'Winnie probably doesn't know Rock's hypocritical demeanor, right? On the way here, Rock and I had sex in the car. Later, Rock took me into the private room, kissing and touching me, not acting proper at all. Until Winnie appears, he puts on that gentle and elegant mask again. I am really looking forward to Rock revealing his true self in front of Winnie. And Winnie probably still thinks Rock is deeply in love with her. She is so stupid. I really want to know how Rock would deal with her. Maybe I should slowly let Winnie discover my presence. By then, the position of Mrs. Harrington would be mine.'

Sierra smirked coldly.

The Range Rover drove to the next intersection, and Melanie called out, "Mr. Harrington, you can drop me off here. I'll get a cab."

"Melanie?" Winnie said, puzzled.

"I don't want to intrude on you and Mr. Harrington." Melanie blinked, then deliberately raised her eyebrows at Rock, "Mr. Harrington, the perfume in your car is a bit strong. Winnie is allergic to perfume. Next time, remind your secretary to use less."

Rock's handsome face stiffened. 'Sierra and I had sex in the car earlier, and to cover the smell, Sierra sprayed perfume on purpose,' he thought.
