Chapter 788 Divorce with Rock
Sidney continued, "Anyway, I'm not going to let that bad dad off easy. Since we'll both have to take care of him in the future, he must take care of us while we're young. It's not fair otherwise."
Winnie and Oscar remained silent.
"Besides, last time I watched a video with Great-grandma, a mom got so exhausted from taking care of two kids that she couldn't handle it and jumped off a building! Oscar, aren't you afraid we'll wear Mommy out?"
"We love Mommy so much, we can't let her get tired. If you hate Dad, you should make him take care of us more. When you're in a bad mood, you can torment him. People say the best revenge is to stick to the person you hate. As for Mommy, we just need to make her happy."
They couldn't find any fault with that.
For the first time, Oscar saw Sidney in a different light.
Sidney was really optimistic.
Winnie was also speechless. This clever kid, Sidney, was even badmouthing Lawrence to speak up for him, using every trick in the book.
She pinched Sidney's cheek, "Mommy will never get tired of taking care of you, and I certainly won't jump off a building. Watch fewer of those videos, Sidney."
"But Oscar told me that when you were abroad, you stayed up all night to treat his cold poison and had to learn new medical skills. Oscar said those three years were really tough for you." Sidney looked at Winnie with a pained expression.
Winnie's eyes reddened unexpectedly. She rubbed Sidney's head, "There were tough times, but seeing you two being so good and loving me so much, it was all worth it."
Oscar listened to Winnie and Sidney's conversation, sitting on the couch in silence.
Sidney's idea was optimistic, but undeniably reasonable.
If he kept hating Lawrence and didn't let him take care of them, wouldn't that be letting Lawrence off easy?
Sidney glanced at Oscar, knowing his persuasion had worked, and raised an eyebrow, "Oscar, we should keep getting close to Dad. Not only can we boss him around, but we can also prevent him from meeting other women. We should ruin his relationships and make him atone for Mommy, staying single for life. That's the best punishment for him!"
Oscar couldn't be bothered to expose his little scheme and said coldly, "Your revenge plan is acceptable. Let's do it."
Winnie watched the two kids discussing and felt completely helpless.
Come on, even if Lawrence met other women, he would still be single for life.
He already had erectile dysfunction.
This thought flashed through her mind, and she coughed. Just then, she saw Elliott coming out with dishes and immediately changed the subject, "Elliott has made dinner. You should eat."
Elliott looked at her, "Where are you going? Why are you still wearing a mask at dinner?"
Winnie's steps halted awkwardly. She had been worried about the injury on her face. So she wanted to hide in the bathroom.
She lied unnaturally, "Elliott, didn't I tell you on the phone yesterday? I caught a cold, so I haven't visited you or my dad these past two days."
"A cold?" Elliott raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Sidney and Oscar aren't that weak; they won't catch it. You still need to eat."
"It's fine. To prevent spreading it, I'll take my bowl to the bedroom."
"Winnie, it's not even flu season," Lena said, puzzled.
With Lena's comment, Sidney and Oscar also felt that Winnie had been wearing the mask for too long.
Seeing that she wouldn't take off the mask, Elliott suddenly narrowed his eyes and looked deeply at her face, signaling Sidney.
Sidney immediately understood. Standing next to Winnie, he stepped on a stool and, while she was unprepared, yanked off her mask. Her swollen right cheek instantly came into Elliott's view.
"Mommy, who hit you?" Oscar's gentle expression changed immediately. He stood up, his small body trembling with anger.
"Mommy, what happened to your face?" Sidney's eyes also reddened with worry.
"I knew something was wrong, so I had Sidney take off your mask. You still want to hide it from us? Who hit you?" Elliott asked angrily, his face stern.
Winnie quickly covered her face with her hand, her eyes flickering as she said, "It's nothing. You don't need to be so upset. I had a dispute with someone at work a few days ago and accidentally got slapped. I've already fired that troublesome employee and avenged myself, so don't worry about me."
She forced a lighthearted smile at the two kids, "What's wrong? Do I look ugly? Then don't look at Mommy. You two eat."
Elliott and Lena exchanged a glance. Fooling the kids was one thing, but did they believe it?
After dinner.
Following Elliott's orders, Lena called Winnie into the study.
Sure enough, Elliott sat in his wheelchair with a stern face, sighing as he began, "Winnie, tell me the truth. Who really hit you? The injury is so severe; it looks like a man's doing. A woman couldn't have done this."
"Yes, it was a male employee at the company."
"You're still lying!" Elliott struck the floor with his cane, his voice firm.
Seeing his worried expression, Winnie's eyes slowly filled with tears. In the standoff, she had to lower her head and admit, "It was Rock who hit me."
"What?" Elliott was shocked, completely incredulous.
He couldn't believe that the refined Rock, the man he had approved of, would lay a hand on Winnie.
Elliott felt deeply hurt, "Bastard!"
He angrily threw his cane and struggled to stand up from his chair, "He dared to abuse you? I was so wrong about him. I thought he was a good man who would cherish you after waiting for you for so many years. Winnie, I'm going to confront him. Even though I'm disabled, I won't let him bully you!"
"Elliott, please don't go." Winnie immediately stopped him, her voice low and cold, "In this matter, I was indeed at fault first."
"What did you do?" Elliott asked, confused and angry, "No matter what you did, he shouldn't have hit you! And hurt you so badly."
"Elliott, I provoked him the night before last." Winnie frowned, her eyes cold, "But recently, I've realized that he's not the Rock I thought I knew. He has many secrets, and even his character and morals are different from what I imagined. After this argument, I realize we're not suitable for each other. I want a divorce and am thinking about how to bring it up."
Elliott was stunned. Was Winnie saying Rock was two-faced?
He frowned and sighed, "I was wrong to push you two together. Winnie, you've only been married for a short time, and now you want a divorce. If you marry again, it will be your third marriage. What will people say about you?"
