Chapter 671 Buying Gifts

"Where the heck is Mr. DeRoss?"

"I can't believe he just fell into the sea by the factory and died. Could someone have rescued or captured him? How else could he just disappear?"

Lawrence clenched his fists, his tired eyes darkening. "I don't think he's dead either, but Mars and his crew killed all his men. Maybe he did fall into the sea. If Jeremy was rescued or captured, whoever has him must be really powerful. Otherwise, he would've contacted us by now."

Ray's face grew serious. "Hearing you say that makes it more complicated. Could Jeremy's disappearance be related to Mars? And what about the group that attacked you in jail, Lawrence? What's your take on that?"

"Mr. Martin, didn't we just discuss that it was..."

"It could be Rock," Lawrence cut in, a fierce coldness in his eyes. "I've thought it over. If Mars wanted me dead, he would've had me killed in jail. Our feud is both personal and business-related. He has no reason to destroy my dignity. The only one who might do that is Rock."

Ray raised an eyebrow, realizing Lawrence knew. "As long as you understand, that's what matters," Ray said coldly. "Rock is a hidden threat. Be careful with him."

Lawrence was also surprised by Rock. He didn't expect Rock to strike so viciously or have the ability to reach into the police department. What happened to Rock this past month? His status has changed, his wealth doubled, and he's now a big shot in Trento City. But before, Rock was nothing to Lawrence, someone he could easily crush. Even when he twice took Winnie away at their engagement and wedding, Rock didn't dare resist. This past month, he didn't even call the police.

'The greater a man's endurance, the more formidable he becomes. He may seem gentle and refined, but his heart is likely warped. How else could he have risen so quickly? If theman who hides his true intentions ends up being with Winnie...'

Lawrence's eyes narrowed, suddenly worried for Winnie. 'Last time, I sent an intimate video to Rock. Would Rock already hate Winnie? He's still unwilling to divorce her. Once he gets her, how will he treat her?'

A chill spread through Lawrence. He needed to warn Winnie. 'Last time at the Peterson family, Mars hinted he knew Rock. Maybe Rock's connections in Trento City are related to Ronnie?'

Lawrence furrowed his brows. "Bryan, keep investigating Rock's connections. But right now, the most important thing is to find Jeremy."

Ray nodded. "I'll push the police to focus on it. Whether alive or dead, we need to find him. Otherwise, Sam and Mars will take legal action against you. I'll get the best lawyer to handle your case."

"Thanks, Ray. You've been working hard."

Lawrence avoided looking at the wound on his abdomen. Despite his exhaustion, his eyes stayed sharp. "I have a plan for this lawsuit. If Sam wants to fight, I'll make sure they don't have any evidence."

"Good. Just rest for now. I'll get some caregivers to come later. Don't worry about anything, Lawrence. You're in good shape."

Lawrence was silent for a moment, then said, "Don't tell Melissa."

"I see."

That evening at Stellar Mall, after checking out the Eternity Jewelry Co., Ltd counter, Winnie headed to a men's store.

"Winnie, are you looking at men's brands?" Melanie put away the documents and followed.

Winnie glanced at her, hesitated, and then asked, a bit embarrassed, "If you were buying a gift for a guy, what would you choose?"

"Oh, Winnie, are you buying gifts for Sidney and Oscar?" Melanie didn't catch on at first.

Seeing Winnie's embarrassed face, Melanie suddenly realized. "Winnie, are you picking a gift for Rock? How thoughtful."

Winnie gave her a sidelong glance and coughed lightly.

She had clearly upset Rock that night, and he hadn't reached out since. The past two days, Elliott had been giving her the cold shoulder, asking why Rock hadn't come by. Winnie was swamped with work and could only think of this way to make amends.

"A tie is a good choice!" Melanie suddenly pointed to a display of branded ties.

Winnie put down the men's suit she was holding. She didn't know Rock's clothing size anyway. 'If it were Lawrence, she knew he needed a large size. Lawrence was nearly six-foot-three, lean and fit, so any clothes suited him well. But Lawrence always had everything custom-made, and his shirts never showed a brand.'

Winnie was getting distracted again.

She sighed at herself, then walked over to discuss with Melanie while comparing options, finally choosing a dark blue striped designer tie.

Melanie picked up another designer tie. "I'll take this one."

"You're buying one too?" Winnie was a bit surprised.

Melanie almost never interacted with men, spending most of her time on her career, as obedient as a little rabbit.

Melanie pointed to the sales sign. "It says two ties get a 10% discount, Winnie. You're wealthy, buying a tie costing thirty thousand dollars easily."

Winnie took the gift box, shifting her slender waist, and looked at Melanie's delicate face, unable to resist her curiosity. "Who are you buying the tie for?"

Melanie was stunned, not expecting Winnie to ask about her personal matters. Under Winnie's gaze, her cheeks turned slightly red. "I'm just buying it for now, not necessarily to give it to anyone!"

Winnie raised an eyebrow, suddenly thinking of Bentley, and grew more curious. "Melanie, I haven't seen you with any male friends. Who are you giving it to?"

"I'm not sure yet. Whether he accepts it or not is another matter, Winnie. Oh, come on."

Melanie dodged, shyly asking her to stop.

At that moment, Winnie felt a piercing gaze from behind, full of pressure. She turned slightly to look at the entrance and saw Bentley's tall figure walking into the store, followed by an assistant.

Bentley, tall and elegant with handsome features, quickly became the center of attention for the salesgirls and female customers. 'Though his popularity still fell short compared to Lawrence.'

As Winnie silently mocked in her heart, Bentley pretended to run into her and walked over. "Ms. Anderson, long time no see!"
