Chapter 256 In a Quandary.
A layer of frost formed on Lawrence R's face. It seemed that the woman beside Alan was the one!
To think she had shamelessly entered the auction hall with Alan and Rock... When did she become so shameless and unscrupulous?
Thinking this, he became inexplicably annoyed. He couldn't let them benefit from this wretched company.
"I bid 40 billion dollars!" Lawrence R made a decisive statement.
A gasp spread throughout the room, almost everyone finding his outrageous bid unfathomable.
At the furthest end of the banquet hall, a graceful figure stood up and playfully teased with a slightly hoarse voice, "Mr. Rodriguez~ I bid 50 billion dollars, don't compete with me, okay?"
Lawrence R abruptly turned his head.
Across space and time, those affectionate words, 'Mr. Rodriguez,' ultimately sent a tingling sensation through his nerves.
Many people had called him Mr. Rodriguez in the business world. Many women had flirtatiously called him Mr. Rodriguez.
But none of them had caused the surge of electricity that swept through his spine like this one sound.
Damn woman. Lawrence R's muscles tensed, and as he snapped back to reality from his daze,
the emcee finished the three-question call and hammered the gavel,
"50 billion dollars! Eternity Jewelry Co. Ltd is won by this young lady. Miss, may I ask for your name and the method of payment?"
"My surname is Anderson," the woman walked out of her seat.
A cold, dark velvet gown covered her ankles but split open at the front, revealing her delicate snow-white legs.
With each step, her graceful and supple figure drew the attention of every man in the room.
Until she slowly approached the podium, the spotlight illuminated her exquisite face, showcasing her exceptional beauty through the veil.
She removed her headscarf, revealing her full appearance, and greeted the emcee with a charming smile,
"My name is Winnie, and the payment will be made by Alan, Mr. L, and Rock, Mr. L. Thank you!"
Silence fell over the hall. Then, the sound of excitement erupted.
"Winnie, she's Winnie!" one audience member shouted.“Triton's former CEO!"
"I heard she died, how did she come back? She's Lawrence R's ex-wife!"
"Two men joined forces to take back the company for her! Lawrence R even lost the chance to win a smile from his current wife. But now that his ex-wife suddenly appeared, I wonder how he feels."
"..." everyone looked at the first man in turn.
He gazed deeply, with indifference, at the woman on the stage - the same face, incomparably beautiful, but he didn't recognize her anymore.
Like a graceful, poisonous and charming black swan. Lawrence R clenched his slender fingers, his gaze narrowed with a hint of malice and a surge of unknown thoughts.
Rock and Alan, two eye-catching figures, stepped onto the stage.
They were also prominent figures at the top of Lymington Tower, the objects of many debutantes' desires for marriage. Now, much to everyone's disbelief, they signed the payment for Winnie!
Once again, all eyes were on this beautiful woman. For a moment, voices of envy and speculation filled the air.
Winnie immediately became the center of attention. Darcy could hardly contain her anger; this wicked woman came back and stole all the limelight from her.
Especially the dark gaze that was cast from the man next to her! She hurriedly tugged on the man's hand and sobbed, "Mr. L, you said Triton would definitely be mine..."
"Miss Anderson doesn't seem to have any remorse towards me. By making such a fuss and taking over the company, is she targeting you? She wants to publicly humiliate you..." Darcy picked her words well.
Her words were an unintentional reminder which brought Lawrence R back to his senses, his aura oppressive and sinister.
At this moment, the emcee was about to hand over the contract to the woman. She stood between the two men, turning her head and smiling sweetly at Rock!
A sense of dissatisfaction surged within his chest, and Lawrence R stood up, his voice dark and ominous, "Hold on!" Lawrence R spoke, causing the emcee's hand to tremble as he watched the dignified and imposing man approaching.
Winnie's eyes narrowed; her expression indifferent as she looked over.
"Which auction company are you from? I'll take Triton and give it as a gift to my fiancée!
This woman voluntarily gave up Triton three years ago and mismanaged it. She doesn't have the ability to redeem the company. You should inform your higher-ups."
His words were concise and powerful, exerting his dominance. Lawrence R was already a legend in Lymington, and his ruthless methods intimidated everyone.
The emcee immediately bowed his head, "Mr. L, we'll discuss it with our higher-ups..."
"What's this? I've paid for it in black and white, and Mr. Rodriguez still wants to forcefully take it away?" Winnie spoke up, her gaze mocking.
Finally, Lawrence R turned his stern gaze towards the charming face of this woman. With a flash of disgust, he completely ignored what she said, his indifference intimidating,
"Miss Anderson, you slapped my fiancée in the restroom, now apologize to her!"
Winnie glanced at the confident Darcy and stepped forward towards the man. "Miss Ordelia, it seems like Mr. Rodriguez is calling you by such an unfamiliar name. After all, we are a married couple!"
"Did I hit Miss Ordelia? Did you see it? Is there any evidence?" The woman's eyes were bright and her fragrance brushed past his nose due to her close proximity.
Lawrence R paused for a moment. He didn't expect her to expose their past relationship in public. She had truly changed... No reservations, no concern for appearances.
Unfortunately, this brazen display disgusted him.
"Miss Anderson, do you think that just because there are no cameras in the restroom, you can hit me and deny it? Three years ago, you betrayed Mr. L, and now you embrace others freely. Don't bring up Mr. L to gain attention. He is my future husband. Please do not overstep your bounds!"
Darcy stepped forward gently, her words carrying significant weight.
Everyone looked at the injuries on Darcy's face, momentarily stunned. They also remembered the scandalous video between Winnie and Rock from three years ago!
Now these two people stood together again, with the addition of Alan...
Darcy added fuel to the fire, "Miss Anderson, marriage should have a good ending. Your affair with Rock can be forgiven, but knowing the conflicting relationship between Mr. L and Alan, you still appeared as Alan's partner. I don't know what kind of deal exists between you that makes Alan treat you so favorably... But I feel sorry for Mr. L, and I don't want you to hurt him or make him feel disgusted!"
Every sentence she spoke clearly implied something, all in the name of Lawrence R's fiancée.
The sympathetic gazes shifted towards Darcy. Then they turned to Winnie, abandoning their previous admiration and replacing it with disdain.
"Miss Ordelia didn't remind me, and I almost forgot. She had a notorious reputation three years ago, cheating on men. Now, undoubtedly, she has hooked up with Alan." The crowd began to talk amongst themselves.
"Mr. Harrington can endure quite a lot." Someone in the audience said.
"Oh, I wonder why two men would invest in her. She must have worked hard behind the scenes!"
These words made Lawrence R furrow his brows, his eyes filled with gloom.
Darcy chuckled inwardly but stuttered on the surface, "Mr. L, did I say something wrong... I saw her getting involved with Alan, and I was so angry on your behalf. Your dignity is important to me."
Undoubtedly, in the eyes of a man, these words were both foolish and heartwarming.
Lawrence R's momentary daze flickered, and he gave Winnie a cold glance. "Do you have anything else to say? Darcy's injury is proof that you assaulted her. I don't care what conniving thoughts you have tonight, who you've flirted with. If you don't apologize properly to Darcy, Triton is not going back with you!"
Rock couldn't bear to just watch and was about to speak up. Alan, enjoying the spectacle, intervened to halt him.
Winnie had remained silent the entire time, preparing a big move!
When Darcy finished her barrage of words, and the group of jerk girls had finished attacking her.
In fact, Winnie was indeed embarrassed, but she always had a slight smile on her lips. Everyone was pointing fingers at her, almost ready to apologize to "kind" Darcy on her behalf.
Winnie smirked and took something out, gazing at Lawrence R, "Who should apologize to whom is not so certain!"
