Chapter 644 Staying Overnight
"If I tell Winnie that your marriage was all part of your scheme, and that you asked me to use Oscar to threaten her, do you think she'd still want to be with you?"
Ishara finished, expecting Rock to be scared.
But Rock just chuckled darkly. "Ishara, you really don't get it, do you? Lawrence is out of the picture, and you have no one left to back you up. Do you know who my backer is? The Peterson family, the top family in Veridiania! Messing with me means messing with the Peterson family and Mars. Do you think your situation will get any better?"
"You're actually in cahoots with the Peterson family?" Ishara was stunned. She never saw it coming that Rock had hidden so deeply.
'He was just a nobody from Lymington. When did he start working with the Peterson family?'
Rock continued, "Did we have any dealings before? I don't remember it. You'd better forget it too. I'm someone you can't afford to mess with."
Then he hung up the phone.
Ishara held the phone in a daze, shivering uncontrollably. 'Rock seemed to be the most ruthless. He really deceived Winnie badly.'
She couldn't help but feel a bit of schadenfreude that Winnie falling into his hands!
From now on, she and Rock could only stay out of each other's way.
The phone rang, and it was Patrick calling. Ishara answered irritably.
"Ishara, did you threaten Rock? The people I sent have fallen into Winnie's hands. Sooner or later, she will interrogate them and find out something. Tell Rock to stay out of it! Make him release the people!"
Ishara became even more irritated. "It's useless now. You acted so recklessly. I didn't expect Winnie to be found by Rock so quickly. We were a step behind! Now that we've begun, we must see it through to the end. Uncle Patrick, I've heard that the company's seal and shares are with Dad's friend, Lysander. You need to take action!"
Patrick had the same plan, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes. With Winnie back, she probably wouldn't let the Blanchet family off. He needed to seize the initiative first!
"Ishara, you should leave Trento City for a few days. I'm afraid Winnie might get your hair! We can't let her succeed."
Ishara felt a surge of anger in her chest but had to swallow it down. She called out, "Patrick, you are my birth dad. Now that Mr. Rodriguez is down and out, I can't rely on him anymore. My only support is you and the Blanchet family. The company must be mine; we can't let Winnie get it. Do you know it?"
Patrick was deeply moved. 'This was the first time Ishara called him Dad.'
He had endured for over twenty years. Every time he saw Ishara call Carlos Dad, he felt jealous and resentful.
"Ishara, I will root out Winnie completely for you. Don't worry!" Patrick's eyes grew colder.
Ishara panted, curling her lips coldly. 'Even if Lawrence was no longer useful, I will still defeat you and trample you underfoot, Winnie.'
"Dr. Ivan, how is my dad doing recently?" At the door of the hospital room, Winnie asked worriedly.
Mark, however, showed a hint of joy. "Ms. Anderson, you have been away for a while and don't know the post-surgery recovery situation. There have been unexpected results that Mr. Blanchet's nerves are slowly recovering, to wake up within the next three months."
Winnie's eyes brightened. "This is different from the six months you mentioned before."
"He is within the expected range. You don't need to worry too much," Mark said.
Winnie took a deep breath and called Lysander, asking him to hire a few more retired veterans for security tomorrow. She was gearing up for a showdown with the Blanchet family, and today's incident couldn't happen again.
"Mommy," Oscar called out, coming over.
Checking the time, Rock said, "It's getting late, Winnie. You haven't had dinner yet. Oscar's been watching over his grandpa, so he probably hasn't eaten either."
Oscar's stomach growled right on cue.
Winnie picked him up, feeling heartbroken and guilty. "Oscar, I'm back. Let me take care of Grandpa's safety. You're too young to worry about this. Can you tell me where that doctor's house is? I want to understand your condition and negotiate with him."
"Mommy!" Oscar looked nervous. "You can't go."
"Didn't you say you weren't being threatened by them anymore?" Winnie frowned.
Oscar lowered his head and lied, "He is treating my illness. If you all show up, I'm afraid he might think you're going to deal with him and not treat me properly."
"Then can you come home with Mommy tonight?" Winnie wanted to secretly investigate the doctor.
Oscar hesitated. He really missed Winnie and couldn't bear to leave her embrace. Tonight, Ishara would definitely be furious and wouldn't have time to inquire about Leo's situation. Sneaking back for one night shouldn't arouse her suspicion.
He took Winnie's hand. "Let's go have the meal first. After dinner, I'll go home with you for the night."
Winnie finally smiled. "You go out with Uncle Harrington. I will go pay the fees."
She headed to the hospital payment hall and caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye. Melissa came in from outside, accompanied by a maid. She looked anxious and politely asked the nurse about something. When she was about to enter the elevator, she hesitated, and the maid said something to her.
Winnie was stunned. 'Melissa should be here to visit someone from the Rodriguez family, right? Melissa didn't know anyone else. Could it be that Bob was hospitalized here?'
This was the Blanchet family's hospital. Winnie lowered her eyes and eventually walked past without helping her. Melissa had nothing to do with her anymore.
That night, they returned to the Dazzling Estate villa. Sidney saw Oscar and rushed over joyfully. He whispered, "You only come home because of Mommy. Look at our house. It's big, right? Mommy bought it with her own money."
"Yeah."
"Let me show you upstairs."
Over there, Rock stood at the door, elegantly chatting with Elliott. Winnie handed him the cleaned coat and thanked him. "Rock, thank you for tonight. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to subdue the people Patrick sent."
Rock looked at her deeply, deliberately glancing at his watch. "Uncle Elliott, it's getting late. You should rest early."
Winnie nodded, and Elliot nudged her. She instantly understood Elliott's meaning but felt awkward and instinctively resisted saying anything to make Rock stay.
Elliott glared at her and then smiled. "Rock, it's late. Why don't you stay here tonight?"
Rock paused, casting a profound gaze at Winnie. "Alright, I'll inconvenience you and Winnie then."
"It's no inconvenience. You and Winnie are family now," Elliot remarked, turning to Winnie and earnestly advising. "Winnie, you're unaware that Rock abandoned his work, dedicating all his time to finding you after you vanished."
