Chapter 236 The Truth Remains in Darkness.

Winnie collapsed; her hands bound. She couldn't crawl, so she helplessly shuffled towards Darcy's leg, wanting to bite her. She was suddenly kicked down to the ground.

"Winnie! Winnie, be careful! I won't leave, I won't leave!!..." Olivia yelled, but her voice quickly changed tone. She was forcefully dragged out of the inn with a pale face that had turned scarlet.

The sound of the car speeding away was accompanied by Olivia's desperate shouts.

Winnie stared blankly, looking towards the direction of the door, not understanding how everything tonight had suddenly turned into this.

They had become cards in Darcy's hand. The girl was gone, Olivia was taken away, and she would be violated...

Everything in this world seemed to have turned upside down. Justice couldn't be found, and the truth couldn't see the light of day.

She looked out the window, feeling an endless winter night with nobody who believed in her. Lawrence R didn't believe her, which allowed Darcy to wreak havoc!

After finally finding the girl, all she had to do was expose Darcy's fake kidney donation that had harmed madam Rodriguez. Then she could confront Lawrence R, gain her freedom, and find a way to save Rock and absolve the guilt of the Harrington family.

She could also save her uncle, and Triton would be okay...

But all of this, tears welled up in her misty eyes, seemed to drift away as she pondered on the situation...

As she snapped back to reality, she realized that Darcy was stepping on her protruding belly, her eyes filled with victory, as if she were stomping on a dead fish.

"Now, it's time for your child to come into this world properly." Darcy's almond-shaped eyes curved with a sinister glow, revealing her teeth.

"Don't..." Winnie desperately backed away, her hands bound and unable to reach for anything except to touch her child and protect it.

Who will come to save her? Her eyes filled with terror, devoid of any glimmer of hope. As she pleaded.

"Darcy, please, spare the child. It's a life, even if it belongs to Lawrence R. It hasn't done anything to you. If you want it, let me give birth to it, and I promise to keep my distance from Lawrence R. That man will only be yours, alright?"

Trapped and desperate, she had lost all backbone for the sake of her child's chance of survival.

She felt frozen, submerged in icy water, shivering uncontrollably, but with a determined look in her eyes, protecting the baby inside her belly.

But as Darcy pressed down with her foot, Winnie felt a warm liquid flowing out!

Oh dear, it wasn't hot water, it was blood. Her belly ached, and the baby inside it struggled in panic. It must be terrified.

A large amount of blood flowed out, and Winnie guessed that her amniotic fluid had ruptured. She clung tightly to her own clothes; her face covered in cold sweat.

"Don't harm the child... Lawrence R won't spare you once he finds out, he definitely won't!!" Her words came out incoherently as she screamed, her lips gradually getting cut.

Darcy sneered coldly and took out a cellphone, stuffing it into Winnie's trembling hand. "Why can't you understand? Mr. L allows me to do this. He doesn't want this child. Unable to do it himself, he indulges me in doing wrong. Otherwise, do you think he would easily believe me?”

“Sending you to a mental hospital... he knows that if you stay there for a while, the child will be tormented to death. If you still don't believe me, I'll give you a chance. Use this number to call him. As long as you can persuade him to change his mind and want this child, then I'll let you go." Darcy said with clear confidence.

Winnie was filled with despair, unable to process the logic behind Darcy's words. She felt shattered by what Darcy had just said.

Her hands were released, and she collapsed weakly onto the ground, clutching the cellphone tightly and dialing the number that was deeply engraved in her memory.

Lawrence R's number, and it connected.

After a few beeps, she heard the sound of someone picking up. Winnie couldn't control the flood of tears, feeling icy cold and desperate, left to hope in this unrecognizable man.

"Lawrence R, it's your child after all. Even if you love Darcy, please don't let her harm us. I promise to disappear from your world! If you want me to stay in the mental hospital for however long, I'll do it. I beg you, just spare this life. It's already seven months, weighing two to three pounds. It eats, moves, and interacts with me inside my belly. Please... don't let me hate you. Please..."

The call lasted for two minutes as she pleaded and screamed, but there was not a single sound from the other end. She kept looking at the ongoing call in disbelief, it was connected, it was connected!

Why was he so heartless? He just wouldn't agree, just wouldn't let them, mother and child, escape. He turned a blind eye to their suffering.

Darcy stared intently at Winnie's gradually lifeless expression. She motioned to the bodyguard, and he nodded, indicating that the call interception was successful. They intentionally used a virtual number, answering the call.

Winnie felt a dull pain throughout her body, as if countless needles were piercing her heart, leaving her speechless. The phone she held in her hand fell to the ground, empty and abandoned.

Darcy smirked and slowly stood up. "Do you understand now? He doesn't want you, plain and simple."

"He doesn't want me...he doesn't want the child," Winnie said, struggling to force a bitter smile. As she stared at Darcy, whose mouth was flaunting above her head.

"Since you're dying tonight, I'm willing to share a little secret with you. Mr. L holds a high position of authority. One day, he will become the perfect man from an influential family. He is not just the young master of the Rodriguez family from Lymington. That's why I must firmly hold onto him, how could I let you snatch him away?" Darcy said with an air of superiority.

"You don't truly love him!" Winnie exclaimed.

Darcy sneered, "That's right, but he believes my love is the purest! I am his savior, the only one he can marry in this lifetime. In fact, you have no chance of winning. Blame your own cheapness, seducing him after divorcing him. With you around, I can't have Mr. L, so you must die."

Winnie understood, a mocking smile appearing on her face. "So, you both haven't slept together either. How pitiful. You're not his savior, I know."

Darcy turned livid with anger, her expression suddenly changing. She stared intensely at Winnie, as if trying to figure out if she had discovered something. But then, she quickly let go of her doubts, fixating on Winnie's defiant smile just before her impending death.

Darcy stooped down, delivering a fatal blow. "Whether he believes I'm his savior or not doesn't matter. He trusts me. Thanks to your uncle, Elliott, who played a crucial role in exposing Mr. L as a scapegoat, I was able to take him down.” Darcy continued to rant on.

“The Granger family, from their business to their people, has been completely consumed by the Ordelia family. I will treat your uncle well. Take these secrets to the grave with you. You won't be able to reveal anything. I will still be the kindest woman in Mr. L's heart."

Winnie widened her eyes, sensing the profound meaning in Darcy's words. She had suspected that the Ordelia family was behind the Granger family's enemy, and it seemed her suspicion was not unfounded.

She clenched her fists, unwilling to accept this fate. Tonight, she learned the secret of her family's revenge, but was she now going to die at the hands of Darcy? She didn't want to, she refused!

But as she looked at the blood pooling under her dress, she felt powerless, consumed by despair.

Darcy triumphantly smirked and commanded her bodyguard to reveal a dagger in his hand. "Let's perform a cesarean section, shall we? Let's bring out a stillborn baby. Of course, I won't stain myself with any blood." She laughed heartily and left.

Winnie slowly snapped back to reality, horrified, as she retreated backward...
