Chapter 924 Winnie Presses Forward Relentlessly
"What do you want?" Olivia asked, sensing Sam was caught off guard and definitely feeling resentful.
Sam frowned. With Jeremy secretly protecting Jake, his and Lynn's influence at the police station was practically nil. If Jake got released, Olivia would have the upper hand.
How could Lynn's plan move forward then?
He needed to consult Lynn. Feeling uncertain, he turned and made a phone call.
At the hospital, Lynn had just received the news and was furious. It had to be Jeremy's doing.
Damn it, even after Olivia hurt him so badly, he was still silently helping that bitch.
Grinding her teeth, the pain from her wrist injury made her hate Olivia even more. After thinking for a while, she lowered her voice venomously, "Jake being released is a big variable. The only leverage we have over Olivia is her father's life. She won't dare to publicize the poisoning before the antidote is given. She can't afford to gamble with his life.
But to make her agree to marry you, we still need to give her the antidote."
"Then won't Jake be saved if we give the antidote?" Sam said angrily.
"So," Lynn squinted her eyes and sneered, "you give her half. Understand? The other half, she gets after the wedding."
Sam was stunned for a moment, then suddenly laughed, "Right, you always have the best ideas!"
This way, the wedding would still happen, and they would still have Jake's life in their hands, controlling Olivia. Once she and Sam were married, she could forget about ever getting a divorce, ruining her life completely!
Lynn's lips curled into a malicious smile. She hadn't expected Jeremy to still protect that bitch. She had thought that after Jeremy misunderstood Olivia's intentions, he would despise her. Even if Jeremy suspected something fishy about the murder case, he wouldn't care!
Now that Jake was released early... Lynn was caught off guard, but fortunately, she had planned ahead. Olivia wouldn't be able to cause any trouble. As long as they made it to the wedding day, once she married Jeremy, everything would be settled.
Besides, Jeremy had already agreed to marry her in a fit of anger yesterday.
He would definitely go through the wedding in spite of Olivia.
She was ready to take advantage of the situation.
Feeling confident, Lynn's thoughts were interrupted by her ringing phone.
Seeing the caller ID, her expression changed slightly. She signaled to Liliana, who immediately understood and sent the nurse out.
The door to the hospital room was closed tightly.
Lynn finally answered the call, "Kaida, is there anyone around you?"
"No one, Ms. Smith. Mr. DeRoss has already left the apartment. I stepped out to call you."
"What's going on with Jeremy?"
Ever since Lynn found out that Winnie was secretly investigating her, she had been worried that Winnie would discover something. So she had planted a spy in Jeremy's house to keep an eye on him.
The spy whispered, "Last night, Mr. DeRoss had two friends visit him, and they brought a little girl. I found out it was Olivia's daughter, Ms. Smith... Ray brought her."
"Mia went to see Jeremy?" Lynn's heart skipped a beat.
Wasn't Mia in Trento City? She didn't come back with Olivia.
Did Ray take her to see Jeremy on purpose? What was going on?
Lynn immediately thought of Winnie, that calm and collected woman. Her heart pounded as she asked, "How long did Mia stay at Jeremy's place? What did she do there?"
"Sorry, Ms. Smith, I couldn't monitor the living room closely without raising suspicion... Mia stayed the whole night! She even insisted on blow-drying Mr. DeRoss's hair and burned a small lock of it. I heard this from the people in the living room. Mia has already been picked up by Mr. Martin."
Blow-drying? Burning hair?
Lynn's eyes darkened, and she clenched her fists.
No doubt, Mia was probably brought back to Lymington by Ray under Winnie's orders, specifically to see Jeremy. Maybe... to secretly take Jeremy's hair? Why else would she blow-dry his hair?
Winnie... could she have figured everything out already?!
Lynn's thoughts were filled with a barely noticeable panic. Her eyes darted around darkly.
Liliana approached, "Lynn, what's wrong?"
Lynn clutched her phone, pacing the room, her mind racing, "Mom, Olivia has a very capable friend named Winnie.
Winnie might already be secretly investigating the fake paternity test I did. Now she's using Mia to get close to Jeremy because Mia wouldn't raise Jeremy's suspicions.
Mia might have already taken Jeremy's hair and left his house!
Winnie... her next step will definitely be to conduct a paternity test between Mia and Jeremy.
If she gets the results, the consequences will be unimaginable!"
Liliana was shocked. "Even Olivia doesn't know anything about what happened three years ago. How could her friend know?"
"Maybe someone found out something about me?
We've always been too sure that Jeremy and Olivia don't remember each other, and there was no evidence from that night.
I never considered that an outsider might see things more clearly.
Winnie has her sights set on me."
"That's not good. You're about to marry Jeremy. We can't let Winnie uncover the secret!" Liliana's greedy eyes flashed coldly, "Should we take care of Winnie first?"
Lynn's hand trembled. "She's the heir to the Blanchet Family in Trento City! Mom, get a grip.
Besides, she's not simple. Why is she investigating the fake paternity test first? Maybe she already suspects Mia and Jeremy's relationship, but isn't conducting the test directly?
She's trying to gather all the evidence to expose me and clear Olivia's name!
No, I have to stop her."
Liliana took a deep breath. "It's a good thing you planted a spy in Jeremy's house to know her next move in advance."
A ruthless glint flashed in Lynn's eyes. Winnie had left Lymington a long time ago. Her connections here were far inferior to Lynn's. Back when she was Darcy's sidekick, she had built her own network all over Lymington.
Winnie wanted to conduct a paternity test here...
Moreover, Lynn now had someone helping her. Thinking of the person who had returned, Lynn felt more confident and narrowed her eyes.
At the police station detention center.
Olivia rushed in. When Sam only agreed to give her half of the antidote and made a new demand for her to terminate her pregnancy and get married in a week, she had to suppress the urge to fight him. Half of the antidote... it must be Lynn's delaying tactic!
There was no time. She took half the antidote and hurried to pick up Jake.
Jake was on a stretcher, being escorted out by police officers, with an ambulance waiting at the door.
"Sir, what happened to my dad?" Olivia ran over, her face pale.
