Chapter 728 I Still Need to Take Care of You
"I get that he's not just some regular guy, but as long as he's good to me, that's all I care about. How many guys out there are actually good to me? Were you one of them?" Winnie shot him a glare.
Lawrence couldn't say anything back because he knew he'd hurt her before.
Winnie lowered her lashes and said, "I've looked into Rock. There's nothing shady about him. Stop causing trouble."
Lawrence squinted, grabbed her hand, and said seriously, "I'm just being honest. You're fooled by his looks, Winnie. Like this morning, you thought he reported the case to the cops on his own, and you think he's honest, right? But after you left, I saw Rock go see that chief. The chief was all respectful to him. Do you think their relationship is simple? I bet Rock told that chief not to look into Olivia's disappearance!"
Winnie was stunned, a flicker of shock in her eyes. "Lawrence, you better back up what you're saying. Got any proof? You say Rock reported the case in front of me but didn't investigate behind my back. Why? Does he have a grudge against Olivia?"
Winnie only remembered Olivia couldn't stand Rock in her last days, but there wasn't any deep hatred.
"That's his way of gaining your trust! And why wouldn't he investigate Olivia? Doesn't it just show he might be involved in her disappearance? He's guilty, so he can't investigate." Lawrence reminded her, seeing her shocked eyes, and said coldly, "He's a schemer, believe me. I got hurt because he sent someone to the detention center, and I ended up in the same cell. I drank some messed-up water and couldn't fight back. Otherwise, I would've had a chance."
A flash of hatred crossed Lawrence's eyes. Winnie stared at him blankly, her mind a mess.
This wasn't the first time he said this. Winnie asked, "Do you have solid proof?"
"If I did, he'd be in prison by now." Lawrence's cold eyes flashed with anger. "But I'll make him suffer the same pain sooner or later, so he can't give you long-term happiness. Leave him now."
Winnie was pissed at his last comment.
She kicked him angrily, "Do you think I married him just for sex? Do you think everyone is as shameless as you? These are all your assumptions. Why should I believe you? Besides, even if he sent someone to attack you, it's normal. You deserved it. Who told you to kidnap his wife? I wanted to cripple you on the island."
Lawrence looked at Winnie with deep resentment.
So, when they were tangled up, Winnie was thinking about crippling him?
Now she got her wish.
Seeing that she couldn't be reasoned with, he was both angry and helpless. Lawrence thought Winnie wouldn't believe the warnings until she saw the damage herself.
"Fine, you'll see what kind of person Rock is sooner or later. But if you don't believe me, wait for the police. If Olivia's case doesn't progress, ask Rock!" Lawrence said with a sneer.
Winnie frowned, "Olivia will be found. I'm done talking to you. The truth is, you're just selfish and overbearing. You can't stand to see Rock and me together, so you make up reasons to tear us apart. You're despicable."
Lawrence knew she was still very resistant to him, so he played the bad guy, "Yeah, I'm despicable. Even if you leave me, any guy you find has to pass my test to make sure he's decent."
"Dream on." Winnie couldn't take it anymore and kicked him between the legs.
Lawrence groaned in pain, his legs clamping her leg tightly, "Kick all you want. You're heartless. It's useless now anyway."
"You're shameless," Winnie snapped, her face flushing. "Let me go."
Lawrence's deep eyes locked onto hers, showing his reluctance.
Winnie was speechless, struggling constantly, but her pretty face gradually turned as red as a tomato.
Despite her countless struggles, she kept rubbing against him. The rustling of clothes, his clean and pleasant scent; despite that damned Lawrence's impotence, she was still a woman, and this kind of contact was bound to provoke a reaction in her.
She was extremely embarrassed.
Lawrence, satisfied with controlling her, his dark eyes mature, hoarse with a smile, said, "Winnie, you're sweating. Are you ovulating?"
Winnie, furious, snapped, "Go to hell. Stop talking."
Lawrence responded with a faint smile, "Okay, as you wish. Go to sleep."
"How can I fall asleep like this with you...?" He held her tightly; it was unbearable. She felt like she was going insane, wanting to punch him, but afraid of waking the peacefully sleeping Sidney beside them. "Lawrence, let go of me. Don’t make me hate you even more."
"I'm not afraid of your hatred." Lawrence smiled bitterly, his thin lips curling slightly, "Winnie, I still love you. I can't help but get close to you when I see you."
Winnie automatically interpreted this affectionate sentence as lewd.
She couldn't help but curse, "You deserve to have sexual dysfunction."
Winnie really considered him a jerk at the moment.
"Try cursing again?" Lawrence teased.
"Shameless. What if I curse you again?" Winnie cursed without any hesitation.
Lawrence continued, "You know, Winnie, even if I have sexual dysfunction, I have many ways to make you happy. Want to try?"
Winnie's face turned red with anger but suddenly quieted down.
When it came to shamelessness, she was no match for him.
She glared at him with wide eyes, her face getting hotter, and finally, she gave up struggling, her eyelids drooping, and she fell asleep just like that.
What she didn't know was that Lawrence had been watching her tenderly from anger to softness until she fell asleep.
Her face blushed with a touch of pink, looking very peaceful, lacking the sharpness of a strong woman during the day. No matter what kind of her, she was very beautiful.
After confirming her breathing was even, Lawrence sighed softly and secretly stole a kiss on her moist lips. "Winnie, forgive me."
If she hadn't married Rock, he might have given up on her.
But because it was that bastard Rock, Lawrence would never allow her to be harmed by Rock.
The next morning.
Winnie was woken up by Sidney.
She opened her eyes, groggily glanced around the big bed, and remembered this was Lawrence's house.
Turning her gaze to Sidney's cold little face, Winnie smiled, "You little rascal, you slept well and now you're teasing me?"
"Mommy, you really came last night, I'm so touched." Sidney pretended to be innocent, smiling and asking, "Did you sleep in Daddy's bed last night?"
"Maybe, I was going to leave, but then we argued and I accidentally fell asleep." Winnie said awkwardly.
Sidney pondered, feeling a surge of unilateral joy.
Winnie didn't know what he was secretly happy about, reaching out to touch his forehead, "Good, no fever. But your bandage is crooked, let me re-bandage it for you to avoid infection."
She said, getting up to find the first aid kit.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that only she and Sidney were in the bedroom, Lawrence was not there.
Winnie asked, "But where is the first aid kit?"
Sidney immediately stopped her guiltily, touching the fake wound on his head, "Mommy, it still hurts a bit, I'm afraid it will hurt more if you change the bandage now, so let's not do it!"
