Chapter 956 Don't Believe Her
"Ray," Darcy's eyes widened with a mix of surprise and joy. She took a couple of steps toward him but then held back, her gentle eyes turning fearful and pitiful. "What are you doing here?"
"What's going on?" Ray's thick eyebrows furrowed as he walked over.
Winnie stepped in front of him, her slender frame blocking the tall and broad Ray.
Winnie's eyes were dark and intense, like a sharp sword. She looked at Darcy with a particularly cold gaze.
Seeing the scene, something clicked in her mind, and a mocking smile slowly curved her lips.
Without a word, she stood in front of Ray and faced the police. "So, Ms. Ordelia has finally made an appearance! What exactly happened here tonight?"
"Yeah, what's going on?" Ray echoed.
Darcy took a step back from Winnie, forcing a bitter smile. "Ray, I've been staying here temporarily. I accidentally witnessed this car kidnapping a girl and called the police. It was only when Jeremy arrived that I realized the girl seemed to be Olivia's child... It's quite a coincidence, really."
As she spoke, Olivia's attention was suddenly drawn to Mia.
Panicked, she didn't have time to question Darcy. She pushed through the crowd to find her daughter. "Officer, where is the kidnapped girl? Where is she now?"
It really was Mia...
"Olivia, over here!" Jeremy called out from a distance.
Olivia turned and saw an ambulance about fifteen feet away, with a stretcher beside it.
On the stretcher, covered with a white sheet, was a small, motionless figure.
Olivia's blood ran cold, her breath caught in her throat, and her eyes welled up.
She ran over immediately. "Is it really her?"
"It's Mia, but she's unconscious," Jeremy said, his brow furrowed deeply. He held Mia's small hand, his voice low and filled with guilt. "You should hold her."
"Mia! How did this happen..." Olivia hurried over, her heart in turmoil. "Why is she unconscious?"
Meanwhile, Winnie looked at Darcy's changed appearance with a sneer. Darcy's once elegant, long hair was now cut short to her shoulders. She was thin, almost gaunt, her cheeks sunken, but her skin was still well-maintained. Her eyes, like a lifeline, kept darting to Ray's tall figure.
Winnie's cold smile deepened. She remembered how manipulative Darcy had been, making Ray so obedient, believing only her words. During those three years, she had also made Lawrence trust her completely.
Darcy's seemingly gentle tactics were well-practiced, always ready to use on men.
Sure enough, Ray's eyes flickered with emotion as he saw Darcy's thin, disheveled face, her expensive clothes replaced by simple cotton and jeans.
In a low voice, he asked, "Darcy, when did you come back? You've been gone for almost a year, left Lymington, so why are you back and living in a place like this? If it's just a coincidence that you saved Mia..."
"Mr. Martin, hold on," Winnie interrupted, glancing at him with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. His gullibility irritated her. She said sarcastically, "The officer is still investigating! I don't believe that Ms. Ordelia, who has done so many bad things, just happened to save Mia."
Darcy's fingers stiffened at her side, but she quickly masked it.
Winnie turned to the police with a smile. "This Ms. Ordelia has a criminal record. You might not know, but she was involved in a kidnapping case. So, I have reason to suspect that Ms. Ordelia is an accomplice in Mia's kidnapping with Lynn!"
"This..." Ray frowned, confused. "Winnie, what are you talking about? She just said she came back to Lymington."
"You believe everything she says?" Winnie looked at him, exasperated.
A few feet away, Jeremy's cold, impatient voice cut in. "Ray, wake up. Winnie's suspicion isn't wrong. Darcy disappeared for almost a year. Do you really believe she'd come back to Lymington for no reason and just happen to save Mia?"
Ray looked at Darcy's increasingly fragile face, his thoughts churning, slowly falling into contemplation.
Darcy knew Ray was her only hope. People like Winnie and Jeremy would never believe her, so she had to hold on to Ray.
Tears welled up in her eyes. "Winnie, Jeremy, I know I've wronged you in the past and made some foolish mistakes. Now, no matter what I say, you won't stand by me. But I... I came back to Lymington out of desperation, with no one else to turn to. I knew you wouldn't accept me, and I was afraid of being ostracized, so I secretly stayed in this cheap, old house... If I had known, maybe I shouldn't have saved Mia, shouldn't have gotten involved."
Winnie's cold smile deepened. The same old pitiful act, the same old routine!

Her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Ms. Ordelia, don't rush to play the victim. Officer, you can investigate and find out that this once prestigious Ms. Ordelia is the heir to the Ordelia Group. Her family's business went bankrupt because they produced illegal drugs! Coincidentally, Jake was poisoned by Lynn and Sam. As far as I know, Lynn doesn't have access to pharmaceutical resources. So, who gave her the poison? And three years ago, Ms. Ordelia and Lynn were very close friends. You can investigate that too!"
The police officer frowned and looked at Darcy. "Ms. Ordelia, do you know the mastermind of this kidnapping, Lynn?"
A cold glint flashed in Darcy's eyes. She hadn't expected Winnie to suspect the antidote given to Jake.
She shook her head in denial. "I did know Lynn three years ago, but we didn't have much interaction. You can investigate that. Tonight, I really just happened to pass by, saw the car, and called the police. Whether you believe it or not, that's the truth."
"Believe it or not, it still needs to be investigated," Winnie said, crossing her arms, her smile cold. "Officer, you must take both the kidnappers in the van and Ms. Ordelia for questioning! After all, the kidnappers haven't confessed yet. Maybe they know Ms. Ordelia! And when Lynn is caught, you can interrogate her thoroughly. They say when disaster strikes, everyone looks out for themselves. I don't believe Lynn won't expose Darcy as the mastermind."
Ray listened to Winnie's words, his eyes deepening. The Ordelia Group had indeed produced illegal drugs, and they had once given them to Elliott! Could Jake's poisoning be related to Darcy?
