Chapter 249 Meeting with her son.
He quickly replied, ‘Did you meet your patient?’
’What kind of trick are you playing?’ Winnie replied.
Alan burst into laughter, ‘Why are you painting me in such a bad light? Winnie, I know what you're planning now, I'm helping you, think about it carefully. My elder brother's strange illness, I heard that no renowned doctor was able to cure him, has your treatment taken effect today?’
Alan provoked her. "..."
Winnie didn't want to recall the scene just now. ‘Are you are afraid of chaos!’
Alan called directly, his mood good, his tone deep, "Winnie, it's time for you to repay the favor from three years ago. Remember what you promised me back then, come back to Lymington..."
After leaving the room, Winnie locked her brows and changed her clothes, saying, "I won't deny the contract. Where should we meet?"
Alan gave her an address, and Winnie hung up and walked out with her bag. As a part-time doctor Winnie had a lot of free time, it seemed like Alan's plan had worked.
She went downstairs, to the corridor of the hospital.
"Lawrence R!" a sweet and cold voice called out.
Lawrence R and Luke had just walked to the Bentley when they saw his son running towards them, accompanied by a bodyguard, with an unhappy expression on his face.
With his short legs, and his delicate features, he attracted the attention of the nurses in the corridor, who wondered who this little boy could be, so handsome and charming.
When the nurses saw his father, the handsome and tall man, they instantly understood, and whispered sounds of envy filled the air.
Lawrence R turned around, frowned, and walked back quickly, his face darkening. "Why did you follow me instead of going to school?"
"I didn't follow you. The food at the kindergarten for lunch is terrible. You make it for me!" Sidney was carrying a heavy backpack, held his arms and spoke impudently to his father.
Lawrence R lifted him up with one arm, walked towards the car, and helplessly furrowed his brows. "How do you survive with such a snappy mouth?"
"If you don't make it, then I won't eat. It's up to you." The son was aloof, pushing his father’s arm away, wanting to get down.
"..." Lawrence R sighed.
Luke quickly intervened, "Hehe, Sidney is Mr. Rodriguez's number one fan in cooking. Mr. Rodriguez, could you make a meal for Sidney before we head to the company?"
Lawrence R didn't speak, and the little guy pursed his lips. When nobody was paying attention, he quickly glanced at his dad.
When his dad looked over, he pouted and didn't admit anything. Lawrence R smiled with half-curved eyebrows, reaching out to pull him up. "Let's go."
"I'm not that hungry. Take your time." Sidney muttered.
In reality, Lawrence R was thinking about the heartless woman upstairs. If she saw that he had another son, with her wicked ways, it would definitely complicate things.
He would never let Sidney come into contact with such a low-quality woman who didn't deserve to be a mother.
Thinking of his other son in the cemetery, Lawrence R felt a chill. All the ambiguous moments from upstairs disappeared in an instant. He lifted his son and threw him into the car. After closing the car door, he sped away.
Winnie's footsteps halted at the stairway. Did she just hear a childish voice call out 'Lawrence R'?
What's more, that voice sounded a lot like her own son, Oscar!
After being lost in thought, she quickly ran downstairs. The nurses' eyes, brimming with admiration, were all focused on the parking lot.
Winnie walked over, feeling as if she was being pulled by something, and suddenly saw that inconspicuous Bentley. The car passed right in front of her, at a fast speed.
In a flash, it was gone.
The moment passed, and Winnie blinked as she noticed a glimpse of a young boy in the rear car window, his side profile resembling Oscar. She stared at the back of the car, unsure if it was just her imagination.
Her heart throbbed unexpectedly, causing her discomfort. Clutching her clothes, she took a deep breath and furrowed her brow. Was that Bentley Lawrence R's? The license plate was different from three years ago.
Could it be that she mistook the child in the car? Feeling uneasy, she went back to the hallway and immediately dialed for a video call overseas. She wanted to see her son.
The video call connected quickly, and Lena's voice came through. "Winnie, it's daytime in China right now. Why are you calling at lunchtime?"
"Where's Oscar?" Winnie asked.
"Oh, so Mommy remembers that she has a precious baby like me. You secretly went back to China without telling me. I'm a little upset, you know," Oscar said, his voice warm.
Despite being upset, Oscar's brows curved when he spoke, and when he smiled, he looked a lot like that man. He was exquisite, like a painting. It was hard to imagine how many girls he would charm when he grew up.
Winnie helplessly pursed her lips and said, "I had to come back because I had a patient to take care of."
"So, it's not revenge on that deadbeat dad that brought you back? The patient isn't my deadbeat dad, is it?" Oscar calmly joked.
Winnie stared at him in disbelief. This little guy, is he out of his mind?
Seeing that there was a change in his mother's eyes, Oscar slyly changed the subject, "I was just kidding. Dad died a long time ago, remember? You said he got struck by lightning because he did so many bad things."
"Yeah, he got struck a long time ago. After Mommy finishes this phase of work, she will come and get you. It's still unstable right now. Behave yourself, okay?"
Oscar naturally understood what his mother meant by ‘unstable.’
He smiled innocently, "I am Mommy's most obedient treasure. I won't cause any trouble for you." Then he turned to Lena and gave her a kiss,
"Beautiful aunt, I'm going back to my room for a nap!" Once he returned to his room, the little guy took out a modified notebook from under the bed and calmly booked the fastest flight to china he could find...
He also contacted some hacker friends in China. With his sparkling eyes, even at three and a half years old, he was sharp as a tack.
After hanging up the phone, Winnie sighed. Her Oscar was fine overseas. The figure in the car earlier must have been her imagination. If there really was a child, as the gossip that Rock had heard went, it must've been his and Darcy's child, right?
But didn't he...? Could it be through in vitro fertilization...? Winnie halted her thoughts.
She had long been emotionally dead, so why bother thinking about these things? A coldness crept over her lips as she pursed them and got into the car, driving towards the destination Alan mentioned.
In the backseat of the Bentley, the little guy's head kept turning to look out the window. Lawrence R finished dealing with the documents and snapped out of his thoughts.
Frowning, he asked, "What are you staring at outside? It's cold out there. Do you know you can catch a cold?" Lawrence R asked his son.
"You're the old man, don't you know?" Sidney retorted. Lawrence R remained silent, not wanting to argue with him due to his illness.
"I've had enough already," Sidney said, turning his head. His dark almond eyes blinked, revealing a long row of eyelashes. He bit his lip and said,
"After the car drove away, there was a woman standing behind who kept staring at me!"
Lawrence R paused, his gaze turning cold. Suddenly, his son asked, "That woman, is she..."
"Nobody!" His tone was icy as he picked up his son and made him face forward.
"There are many human traffickers out there! The prettier the woman, the more wicked their hearts. Always remember to stay away from them!"
