Chapter 199 Asking for Rock's Help.
In the luxurious theater, Darcy sat closely next to Lawrence R. Looking at the man's perfect features, her heart fluttered with sweetness and satisfaction. Because of the incident with the photo, she had angrily called her mother the night before...
Her mother gave Darcy advice, suggesting that she go to the hospital and deal with Winnie, and also advised her,
"That despicable woman can't die yet. Just endure it. Once you get engaged to Lawrence, he won't have any thoughts for her if something happens to her.
You have to quickly secure his heart. Once you're engaged, find an opportunity to get rid of her! At that time, you will firmly sit in the position of Mrs. L. What else is there to fear?"
Her mother was right, which is why she succeeded today in getting Mr. L to agree to the engagement date. She vented her anger in front of Winnie and felt relieved.
Now, she had to accelerate her progress with Mr. L and solidify their relationship...
Darcy saw a kissing scene appear on the screen and pretended to be shy, leaning her head towards his chest...
But Lawrence's mind was not focused on the movie at all. He glanced at his phone several times.
Just as Darcy's red lips touched his refined jawline, Lawrence R suddenly snapped back to reality, sensing the woman's proximity, and instinctively moved away. He stood up, "Darcy, I'll be right back, I need to use the restroom."
"..." Darcy took a deep breath, unwillingly watching him walk away!
Lawrence R couldn't focus on anything and felt suffocated inside, so he came outside to smoke a cigarette. He circled inside the cinema twice but couldn't find the woman, his brows furrowing.
"Luke, weren't you supposed to keep an eye on her? Who allowed her to leave?" Lawrence demanded an explanation.
Luke quickly emerged from the side and silently pointed to the street across the cinema, "Miss Anderson said she needed some fresh air outside. I've been keeping an eye on her, she's right over there."
Lawrence R glanced over and murmured a frustrated response before walking towards her.
He finished smoking his cigarette and extinguished it as he approached her.
He walked to that street of life, but his expression suddenly froze. A thin woman stood in front of the door of a hot dog shop, dressed lightly.
She stared blankly, like a statue, her long hair wrapped around her face by the cold night wind, making her pale complexion even more pronounced against the dark backdrop.
Lawrence R glanced up and saw the name of the shop:
"Love Hot Dog stall." He muttered to himself.
A memory surged into his mind, suffocating his heart. It was when they made up and went on their first date.
"I really want to eat hot dogs, L!" Winnie had pleaded that day.
"The shop is called Love Hot Dog stall, and there's also a Love Hotel." The man looked at the woman beside him. "Love Hotel? We can go there later." L recalled their conversation vividly.
The unexpected sweetness, like warm needles, pricked deep inside his chest. Lawrence R's mind wandered, and he followed her gaze, just in time to see the table they had sat at the last time.
At that time, his eyes were also filled with tenderness as he wiped her mouth with a tissue. Later, she even asked for a kiss, saying she wanted to "taste something different," savoring the sweetness on his lips...
Lawrence R swallowed and his gaze became hazy. But his fist clenched by his side.
Is she also looking? Is she also wondering why everything has been ruined?
"Miss, I remember you! Last time, you came with a very handsome boyfriend to eat hot dogs. Is he not here today? Don't just stand there, come in and eat!" The shop owner kindly approached Winnie, who had been standing there for a while.
Lawrence R looked at the woman as if he were catching a thief. She hastily wiped the corners of her eyes and shook her head. "No, Madam, I'm not hungry."
"If you're not hungry, your child will be! Pregnant women should eat what they crave. When your boyfriend comes to pick you up, I'll convince him to let you have some snacks!" the owner joked.
Winnie smiled helplessly. "He won't come."
The owner's expression froze, sensing the distress within Winnie.
Winnie turned and walked away, took a few steps, but couldn't help but turn back for another glance. Her dark eye sockets were moist in the moonlight.
He glanced at her back, rubbed his forehead, and sighed, "Luke, go buy a pack of hot dogs."
Luke's mouth curved in a knowing smile. He knew it was for Mrs. L. Mr. L had softened; his emotions had always been influenced by Mrs. L.
Lawrence R lit a cigarette and saw the woman turn into another late-night snack street after turning the corner.
His long legs involuntarily followed. Standing in front of a flower bed, he flicked his cigarette butt away—
Suddenly, he saw Winnie stop in front of a car, and a man got out. Winnie checked the time and smiled. "Mr. Harrington, you're very punctual."
"Rare for you to take the initiative to find me," Rock said, looking at the cramped car on the narrow road. He gently supported her waist, afraid that as a pregnant woman, she might bump into something. "It's crowded here. Let's find a place to sit first."
Winnie scanned the area. It was full of roadside stalls, perhaps the smell of hot dogs just lingering. Her gaze was involuntarily attracted to the hot dog stall again.
"Do you want to eat hot dogs? Then let's go."
Rock noticed her pale lips, indicating that she hadn't had dinner. Winnie remained silent, yearning for that taste.
Just now...
Forget it. This is not the same place as before. Winnie walked in and politely asked, "Mr. Harrington, are you still adjusting to this place?"
"Don't underestimate me. I have experienced all kinds of lives during my years abroad."
Rock chuckled lightly and handed her utensils like a gentleman. He glanced at her belly and said,
"After leaving my house that night, have you been alright? I was really worried about you."
Winnie stiffened slightly. She couldn't say what happened at Lawrence R's apartment.
She forced a smile and said, "Both the baby and I are fine."
"But your complexion doesn't look good, and you went to the hospital today." He frowned.
Winnie was taken aback. Did he follow her?
She didn't dare touch the care in the man's gaze. Winnie took out the test tube from her pocket and went straight to the point,
"Mr. Harrington, I entrust you with this blood sample. I need you to help me with a highly confidential and accurate test. I've thought about it, and only your capabilities can assist me."
"A small matter like this, I'd be more than happy for you to bother me." Rock reassured her.
Rock reached out and discreetly received the test tube from her hand. The warmth of his hand calmed her, and his smile reassured her.
A touch of warmth passed through Winnie's heart.
"Mr. L! Mrs. L's hot dogs are ready. Are you personally delivering them to her?" Luke happily ran over, holding the packed meal box. But he saw Mr. L standing outside a hot dog stand, unmoving seemingly frozen.
The cigarette at the corner of his mouth had burned to the end, and the crimson spark shone into his cold eyes.
Lawrence R slowly took the hot dogs, looked down at them, and let out a laugh. Then he turned around and threw the hot dogs into the trash can!
Luke didn't understand his intentions, so he followed his sarcastic gaze and gasped.
Why was Mrs. L sitting with Rock at this hot dog stand??
Rock's hand had reluctantly moved away from Mrs. L's fair hand...
Damn it. Luke cursed inwardly.
Did Mr. L see everything?
Before he could react, the cold and icy man by his side stepped into the shop—
