Chapter 234 Winnie Escapes.
She couldn't let Winnie win. If Mr. L discovered that she was the one behind Madame Rodriguez's downfall, she would be utterly done for...
There was no donating secrets! But as evening approached, Jeffery couldn't find any trace of the girl. Olivia hid people too well!
Darcy grew increasingly annoyed. After some thought, she immediately changed her clothes and headed to the Island Electronics building.
Lawrence R was working in the CEO's office, and Darcy secretly glanced at him before calming herself down.
She turned her head, pretending to casually ask the secretary, "Has anyone come to see the CEO this afternoon?"
"In fact, Darcy, apart from the manager of our partner company, Mr. Rodriguez hasn't seen anyone else." The female secretary honestly replied.
Why didn't Olivia bring that girl straight to Mr. L to expose everything? It seems she believes that Mr. L wouldn't easily trust her. Or maybe something is missing?
Darcy pondered darkly, tightly twisting her nails, filled with unease. She had to come up with a plan to distract Mr. L immediately. She couldn't let Olivia have an opportunity in Lymington!
While the staff in the secretary's office went downstairs for their lunch break, she immediately adjusted her schedule.
Then she went to a secluded terrace and made several phone calls, going through a series of arrangements to create problems at the collaborating factory.
Luke received a call from the chip manufacturing company and entered the CEO's office. "Mr. Rodriguez, there has been an error in the production process at the factory. The senior engineers couldn't solve it. They mentioned that you're one of the developers of the Golden Peace chip and suggested you go take a look overnight."
Lawrence R furrowed his brow and sharply asked, "Why is there suddenly such a significant issue? Wasn't it checked?"
"I have someone investigating this, but with the large number of chip orders, every hour of production stoppage results in a loss of up to fifty million," Luke hesitated. "If you go to rebuild the chip program, it can be set up quickly."
The man shifted his posture, looking outside as the evening gradually darkened, his eyebrows tightly knitted.
Thinking about the woman at the sanatorium who was uncooperative with treatment and about to give birth, although he was angry, he had decided not to visit her recently.
However, he also didn't want to be too far away from her. The manufacturer was in the southern region, so going there and handling the situation would take three to four days.
He couldn't completely set his mind at ease.
"Let's discuss it tomorrow!" was Lawrence’s final decision.
Darcy was extremely anxious upon hearing this news and immediately contacted Mr. Ordelia, discreetly making some arrangements with a few chip demand companies.
Within an hour, the secretary's office received urgent phone calls from those companies. "I heard that the Golden Peace manufacturer is facing issues. Will Mr. Rodriguez come forward to resolve it? Will the chips be supplied on time? My unmanned car's launch can't be delayed!"
Luke also understood Mr. Rodriguez's reluctance to leave Lymington at the moment.
"Mr. Rodriguez, Island Electronics needs stability with these major orders. You have pushed Imperial Financial Group to the edge." Luke reminded Lawrence.
The market value has shrunk by billions of dollars, and Alan's car project cannot be launched now. We can't afford any mishaps."
It may not be a big deal, but Island Electronics must proceed cautiously with every step.
"Mr. L, I heard that the manufacturer is having issues. You should go and check it out," one of the collaborators suggested over the phone.
Darcy entered, acting as if nothing was wrong, "If you're worried about Miss Anderson's child, I can keep an eye on the situation at the sanatorium. Besides, you can monitor her ward during your journey."
Lawrence R stood up, "Darcy, come with me. We can handle the situation faster together."
Darcy's expression immediately changed, and she suddenly held her stomach, pretending to be weak. "I want to go too, but I had some bad food today, which might worsen the burden on my kidneys. I'm afraid I'll be a hindrance on the plane."
Lawrence R didn't think too much about it; he just wanted to come back quickly. Not wanting to force her, he showed concern and gently patted her shoulder, "Have the doctor in the villa take a look at you."
"Mr. Rodriguez, another partner called complaining about chip issues!" the secretary reported, entering the room.
Lawrence R furrowed his brow. The matter needed urgent resolution. He grabbed his coat and asked Luke to prepare the private plane.
Unable to shake off his worries about their unborn children, and their mother who was in poor health as he believed. "Luke, connect my computer to the monitoring system at the sanatorium!"
If he could keep an eye on her, everything should be fine. But for some reason, tonight, his mind was elsewhere...
Finally, as the man boarded the plane, Darcy turned around in the darkness and headed back to the car.
She called Jeffery but he still couldn't manage to find that girl!
Darcy became irritable and screamed at Jeffery. "Olivia, can't you find her either? A bunch of useless people!"
She paused, her eyes suddenly flickering. Winnie was the schemer behind this, and Olivia found the girl but kept it a secret. What would she do next?
Darcy suddenly thought of something, her eyes glinting coldly. She quickly hung up the phone and instructed the driver, "Go to the sanatorium up in the mountains!"
Before Darcy could reach the sanatorium, the corrupted director called with information, "Miss Ordelia, Mr. Rodriguez's side has requested immediate transmission of Winnie's ward surveillance. Should I transmit it or not?"
Darcy checked the time. Mr. L was currently on the plane with no internet access.
"Delay it for now, and cut off any unnecessary footage later. What is Winnie doing now?" Darcy asked apprehensively.
"The nurse said she has been in the restroom for quite some time..." the director was reporting to Darcy, when suddenly there was a commotion on the other end of the line.
The head nurse entered the directors’ office in a panic, "Director, someone opened the door to Winnie's ward. It's chaos inside, with three or four nurses sprawled everywhere. Winnie is gone!"
Darcy heard this over the phone and her face immediately changed. "It must be Olivia who saved her. Find them quickly!" Her prediction was spot-on! Damn it, how did they team up?
Safely out of the ward and in the car Olivia turned to ask Winnie,
"What happened, Winnie? Is the baby okay?" Olivia started the car anxiously.
"Just go... quickly," Winnie weakly caressed her stomach, "They injected me with a premature birth medicine, the baby absorbed some of it."
"Damn it, they won't get away with this," Olivia muttered as she drove away.
"Olivia, it's fine. Let's go find that girl and then confront Lawrence R with all the evidence we have!" The car raced downhill as Olivia tried to get them as far away from the sanatorium as possible.
Laura called Olivia, "Olivia, did Winnie make it? I have some bad news. I heard Lawrence R suddenly went on a business trip tonight. Something happened at the company, and he went to a city in the south. What should we do?"
Olivia was taken aback. Winnie calmed down reluctantly and said, "It's alright. We can take the girl to the south. It might be better if he's not in Lymington."
Olivia knew Winnie was worried about Darcy causing trouble. "You can't exert yourself too much. We need to hurry. I'll hide the girl nearby because I'm afraid something unexpected might happen to you."
