Chapter 780 Questioning

By the car.

Bentley called out to Winnie, rolling his eyes and teasing her, "I brought Mr. Harper over to help you, not for you to be so bold and confront him."

"You reprimanded his precious daughter Angelina tonight; he's definitely going to cause you trouble in the future. The Blanchet Group might even get into trouble because of this. You don't understand patience."

Winnie shrugged, "I couldn't back down in that situation, or else Angelina would go around saying I was having an affair with Lawrence."

"Besides, the Blanchet Group does business and has no connection with the Harper Family. I can't be bothered to flatter him; I just won't deal with him."

"You can't be bothered to flatter, but someone has to." Bentley glanced meaningfully at Rock in the car.

Winnie turned her head and saw Rock sitting in the driver's seat. She couldn't see his expression clearly, but she could tell he wasn't happy.

"I'll go now." She was afraid that standing here chatting with Bentley for too long would make Rock even more unhappy.

Winnie turned and got back into the car.

Rock started the car and turned to stare at her, "Winnie, what did Mr. Jenkins say to you?"

Winnie pretended to sigh, "He said a few things about what happened at the party."

Rock's face finally turned cold, and he immediately asked, "What exactly happened tonight? Why did Mr. Harper 'invite' us out before the party was over?"

He emphasized the word 'invite,' and Winnie could tell he was very displeased.

She sighed slightly, "Maybe because I'm Lawrence's ex-wife, Angelina kept treating me as an enemy at the party, always causing me trouble. After several incidents, I finally had a conflict with her, which made Mr. Harper unhappy."

She apologized calmly, "Sorry, Rock, for causing you trouble."

Rock silently clenched his fists.

This useless Winnie!

She had no idea how much effort he had put into pleasing Samuel, how many gifts he had given, and just when he was about to integrate into their circle, she ruined it all.

He could only suppress his anger and remain silent, afraid that speaking would reveal his emotions.

The car fell into an eerie silence.

Winnie felt uncomfortable all over. She thought for a moment, then turned her head and said quietly, "Rock, I understand you want to please Mr. Harper, but someone as scheming and vindictive as Mr. Harper is not a good person."

From the way he raised a daughter as arrogant as Angelina and favored her without regard for others' dignity, how good could he be?

"Winnie, you don't understand!" Rock interrupted her, suppressing his coldness, "People in Mr. Harper's position are never simple. It's normal for them to be high and mighty and not kind."

"Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I explained. I'll apologize to Mr. Harper on your behalf. If you don't like the Harper Family's parties, I won't take you next time to avoid making you uncomfortable."

After he finished speaking, he looked out the window and stopped communicating with her.

Winnie sensed that he was really angry, but he was holding it in.

She lowered her eyes, not wanting to argue and provoke his emotions. The reflection of her silhouette in the window glass merged with the rapidly passing neon lights outside.

In the night breeze, she slowly lost her focus.

Scenes from the bathroom earlier flashed uncontrollably in her mind.

Lawrence's hot kisses entangled her, and she had to wrap her arms around his neck, finally leaning against him.

What had happened was enough to make anyone blush and their heart race, leaving her mind in a daze.

Fortunately, after helping him a bit, she immediately had him jump out of the bathroom window.

She had anticipated that Angelina would come back when she couldn't find Lawrence.

Tonight was full of dangers, making her break out in a cold sweat, but she managed to avoid Angelina and her group and got out smoothly.

However, thinking about how she had once again gone out of her way to help Lawrence, she realized she could no longer use the excuse of treating and saving him.

She felt confused. Maybe she had really gotten used to Lawrence's body. Even though they were divorced, she didn't feel repulsed by being intimate with Lawrence, but she felt nauseous when Rock touched her.

Once again, she felt confused about her marriage with Rock.

Regardless of whether Rock had an affair with Sierra or whether he had anything to do with Olivia's disappearance, Winnie felt she couldn't continue with Rock.

She needed to find time to talk about divorce.

They returned to Rock's villa in silence.

After getting out of the car, Rock immediately took his phone and went to the study, seemingly still dealing with the issue of leaving the party early.

Winnie remained silent and went upstairs to the guest room to brush her teeth and take a shower.

When the mirror reflected Winnie's slightly flushed lips, kissed pink by Lawrence, she couldn't help but blush as she remembered Lawrence's shameless behavior.

Annoyed, she brushed her teeth thoroughly, trying to wash away Lawrence's lingering presence.

As she was struggling with herself, Lawrence called.

Winnie was startled. Seeing the number, her face filled with anger.

She hung up immediately.

But Lawrence was persistent, calling two more times. When she still didn't answer, he sent a text: [Baby, I got home safely. Thank you for tonight. I didn't expect you to help me like that. I love you so much.]

Winnie's eyes fluttered, her heart racing, and she blushed as she threw her phone aside.

How dare Lawrence say such shameless and cheesy things!

She bit her lip, quickly splashing cold water on her face, trying to cool down.

But a few seconds later, her phone beeped again with another text: [Why aren't you replying? Winnie, are you shy?]

Winnie couldn't take it anymore and shakily replied: [Get lost.]

Lawrence: [I won't get lost. I'll never leave your side because you saved me again. You're my savior for the third time, Winnie. I'll spend my life repaying you. Will you be with me?]

Winnie: [No, shut up.]

After cursing him out, Winnie's heart pounded like thunder.

She bit her lip and held her phone to her chest, still feeling her abnormal heartbeat, stirred by Lawrence.

Just then, the guest room door suddenly opened!

Seeing Rock stride in, Winnie panicked and immediately put her phone on the vanity.

At the same time, she frowned. Why did Rock keep coming in without knocking?

It seemed she needed to lock the door.

"Winnie, who are you texting? Why is your face so red?" Rock questioned coldly.
