Chapter 135 Removing Darcy's Influence
Daniel turned his face away, buried in the shadows, staring at her blankly. Panic crossed his mind at that moment.
"That's your grandpa's only heirloom. If I gave it to you, you would push me away, Winnie... I admit, it's too late for me to reflect. I only just realized that I deeply love you, not Ava. Can't you give me another chance?"
He approached, attempting to grab her hand. Winnie coldly evaded his entanglement and looked up at him with a hint of mockery.
"I'm sure that the person you love now is not me because you haven't recovered Triton. After Ava's failure, your emotions changed so quickly. Now you say you love me, but your blind date is Miss Turner."
Suddenly, Daniel thought about the encounter with Miss Turner at the Dazzling Banquet, which Winnie witnessed.
He held his head in pain and said, "It was my mom who forced me. I had no choice because of the inheritance rights. I was wrong, Winnie. I believed in Ava's hypocrisy in the past, which made me treat you badly. But Miss Turner was just an excuse. Give me some time. And you should leave that mysterious man by your side. You don't even know his true identity. How can you follow such a dangerous man? Come back to me..." Daniel pleaded.
Winnie regarded him as utterly shameless and didn't want to listen to his pleading. She stood up and said, "So you won't give me the contact book?"
"I will if you come back to me!" Daniel became stubborn.
"Winnie, tomorrow is the deadline," Winnie's eyes filled with coldness as she turned and left.
After getting into the car, she frowned and called Triton's trustworthy manager. "Contact Leonard Davis and Eudora Davis tonight. Tell them that Daniel has been voted out by Triton's board of directors and that Triton intends to cooperate with Leonard's company. Invite them to the company tomorrow."
The manager was stunned, but he understood that Winnie was planning to deal with Daniel by joining forces with the Davis family. He immediately went to do as he was instructed.
Winnie also sent a text message to Olivia, "Can you get Miss Turner's phone number?"
Olivia was taken aback. Wasn't Miss Turner the person Daniel recently went on a blind date with? She immediately asked, "Winnie, what are you up to again?"
Rubbing her temples, Winnie wasn't up to mischief. She was desperate to get her hands on the contact book to contact her uncle, her only relative.
The next day, Winnie got up early and went to the Kingdom Estates. She waited in the office early in the morning.
L didn't come back last night, but Winnie had already contacted Luke in the morning. Luke said the CEO would return to the Kingdom Estates this morning.
Winnie asked for their flight time, calculating when L would arrive. After nine o'clock, the office door was suddenly burst open.
Manager Baker stormed in with anger, his face scratched with bruises. He pointed at Winnie and questioned furiously, "Did you release the video yesterday? I just asked you to go up on stage and speak, but everything went wrong. Later, my wife came, and I couldn't find you anywhere. Were you hiding?"
He was furious. It took a long time for him to calm down after going home, and he came to confront Winnie in anger early this morning. Winnie stood behind the desk, composed, and gave Milly a signal.
Milly immediately sent the video that caused a commotion in the company yesterday to Ms. Anderson's friends.
Winnie, with an innocent yet indignant look on her face, said, "Manager Baker, what are you saying? Your extramarital affair has spread throughout the company, causing a bad influence. The company's reputation is being dragged down by you."
"Don't play the victim! I know what you did. You pushed Darcy out, and now you want to come after me? I won't be so easily dealt with!" Manager Baker said angrily, getting ready to charge forward.
Milly immediately stepped in front of Winnie. Wanting to protect her But Winnie secretly gestured for her to step aside.
Manager Baker, full of rage, grabbed Winnie's arm.
Just then, the door suddenly opened. Luke stepped aside, revealing a tall and imposing figure behind him.
"Manager Baker, what are you doing?" L asked, his voice cold and sharp.
Manager Baker turned around and saw the intimidating CEO. His legs went weak, and he hastily retreated away from Winnie.
The tall man walked to Winnie's side, furrowed his brows and looked her over to confirm that she was okay, and then turned back to confront Manager Baker with a cold expression. "What else do you want to do to my Mrs. L?"
"I'm innocent! CEO!" Manager Baker trembled all over.
He carefully presented his complaint, "You don't know, Mrs. L deliberately released my personal video during the meeting yesterday. She humiliated me, caused damage to my reputation, and even delayed the hotel group's project. That's why I came here to reason with her."
L remained silent. The man's imposing aura filled the silent office.
His face turned cold, and he drew a circle on the woman's face. Manager Baker's affair was known to the entire company, how could he not have heard about it?
Winnie was probably waiting for him to come back today.
His sharp black eyes made Winnie uneasy as well. After all, she was stirring up trouble under his name, causing a disturbance in his company.
Observing the expressions and reactions, Winnie denied, "Manager Baker, you claim that I've harmed you, but where is the evidence? You have none. You're simply framing me without any basis."
"You!" Manager Baker threatened Winnie again.
"That's enough." L interrupted sharply. Leaning against the desk, his long legs were captivating, and his presence was intimidating. "Manager Baker, you're fired."
"CEO! Why?" Manager Baker's face turned pale as he trembled with discontent. "You usually don't manage the Kingdom Estates personally. I know I'm just a small manager, but I have made many contributions to the company. My personal life is not related to my job. Please show me some leniency!"
At this moment, Winnie spoke softly, "You have caused damage to the company's image, Manager..."
"Manager Baker, this is closely related." Winnie said.
"Only the company knows about this. CEO, I can guarantee it won't be leaked and won't affect the company!" Manager Baker pleaded persistently.
"Manager Baker, your scandal has gone viral on the internet. Numerous women betrayed by their husbands have seen you assaulting your wife and are furious, doxing you. You are now completely famous," Milly said mockingly, taking out a tablet and displaying the news.
Manager Baker saw the news and collapsed in disbelief. "It's impossible. How could this happen... is it you, Ms. Anderson?"
Winnie didn't even bother responding to him. She directly handed a recording device to L and said, "CEO, here is a recording I have. You might want to listen."
L looked at her solemnly, and the recording played the joint defamation from Manager Baker and his secretary about Winnie that happened in the restaurant yesterday.
After listening, L's face turned cold, and he said, "Luke, bring in those who spoke in the recording, especially Manager Baker's secretary."
Just at that moment, Milly took out the receipt from yesterday's takeout and spoke up for Winnie, "CEO, Manager Baker made Vice President have to order takeout upstairs yesterday. The restaurant supervisor refused to serve Vice President."
Winnie left behind the receipt. At this moment, she looked a bit wronged and rubbed her belly. L's gaze turned stern, and he immediately commanded, "Someone, throw Manager Baker out, and fire the restaurant supervisor!"
"CEO..." Manager Baker collapsed completely, pale-faced. This time, when he looked at Winnie, his eyes showed a faint fear. He didn't expect that this woman had recorded their conversations yesterday, leaving evidence of all their misdeeds.
Today, she used it against him in front of the CEO. Winnie remained calm, watching Manager Baker being kicked out.
This was Darcy's biggest insider at the Kingdom Estates, eliminating him meant eliminating the remnants of Darcy's influence in the company.
