Chapter 232 Plotting to Make Her Give Birth Prematurely
Late at night, Winnie curled up in the windowless hospital room, her face pale and her expression absent-minded.
‘Clang’—
The door opened, and a nurse carrying food walked in, speaking kindly, "Miss Anderson, please have some food." Winnie glanced at the meal, but it was leftovers.
She quickly became suspicious and stared at the masked nurse, abruptly knocking the food over. "Are you sent by Darcy?"
A sharp hint of malice flickered in the nurse's eyes as she innocently replied, "Miss Anderson, I am just an ordinary nurse. Mr. Rodriguez asked us to take good care of you. Please don't give us a hard time."
Ignoring her, Winnie caught a glimpse of the door opening and swiftly ran out, only to be intercepted by two security guards.
"Let go of me, let me out!" she screamed, losing her remaining sanity. The nurse collected the plates and quickly left.
Less than an hour later, Winnie noticed the light on the surveillance camera in her room turned dark.
Suddenly, the door opened, and the nurse walked in with the security guards. The room was sealed, and the nurse sneered, "Miss Anderson, it's time for your infusion."
"What kind of infusion? Show me the medication list." Winnie instantly became alert.
The nurse immediately ordered the guards to restrain Winnie, and as the syringe hissed while the medication was released, she lowered her voice and laughed,
"We are all professionals in treating depression. Don't bother looking at the list! Just know that a few more injections will ensure that your child will arrive into this world soon."
What? Winnie's face changed dramatically at the thought of a premature delivery. This medication was definitely arranged by Darcy. She couldn't take it! She absolutely couldn't!
However, burdened by her cumbersome belly, she had no strength to resist and could only watch as the medication entered her bloodstream.
"No!" she shouted, her face pale and terrified. The nurse quickly withdrew the needle and left with the security guards. Winnie felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.
She desperately covered the injection site on her arm, trying to prevent the medication from circulating any further.
She rushed to the bathroom, drinking cold water and forcing herself to urinate, hoping to flush out the medication.
Afterward, tears streamed down her face as she noticed the surveillance light on the ceiling turning on again. She crouched down, supporting her knees, and even the strength to laugh coldly was gone.
Olivia and Laura waited until midnight, unable to find Winnie anywhere. They were extremely worried. They tried to contact Benjamin multiple times...
Olivia even met up with Jeremy, but neither Benjamin nor Jeremy knew where Mr. L was. Olivia called Luke multiple times, but he didn't pick up. Something didn't feel right about this situation!
Unable to contain her concern, Olivia got Luke's address from someone in the company and both her and Laura rushed over to the address to confront Luke and pressure him for answers.
After hesitating, Luke finally revealed a bit of information,
"Mrs. L bit and stabbed Mr. Rodriguez, then lost control and attacked Miss Ordelia. The family doctor came to check and said Miss Anderson had signs of depression.” He sighed and then continued.
“Taking multiple factors into consideration, Mr. Rodriguez sent her for isolation treatment overnight..."
Olivia listened in shock and anger. Locking eyes with Laura, they both knew that if Darcy was involved, she definitely must have manipulated the situation against Winnie.
"Forget about Lawrence R... Where did he send Winnie?" Olivia couldn't bear the thought of Winnie suffering especially if she wasn't ill to begin with.
Luke lowered his head in distress, "Mr. Rodriguez knew about my close relationship with Mr. DeRoss and Mr. Martin. He didn't even let me get involved. This situation with Mr. Rodriguez is far from ordinary. Anyone who asks too much ends up at a dead end. Miss Smith, please don't act recklessly."
"Damn it, Winnie is definitely in danger!" Olivia turned to Laura in frustration.
Laura was a bit calmer and asked Luke, "Do you know where they took Rock in Trento City for interrogation? What are the charges? Is it serious? Please tell us something."
"Rock was accused of corruption within the association. He's currently under investigation as well." Luke explained.
Laura understood that it meant there was a chance he could come out alright, but it would take some time.
That's exactly what Lawrence R wanted. He could divert the attention away from Winnie, creating chaos within the Harrington family and teach Rock a lesson, making him think twice before opposing him again.
Laura dragged Olivia away. Once Olivia got back into the car, she tried to track Winnie’s location of the watch, but there was no signal coming from it!
Where on earth was Winnie being held? Olivia thought feeling more helpless with every passing minute.
Before dawn Lawrence R, got out of bed unable to sleep all night, he freshened up got into the car and drove for several hours alone to this sanatorium hidden in the mountains.
He quietly entered the ward where the woman was being kept, laying in her bed she looked haggard.
Her jet-black hair clung to her tear-streaked face, pale to the point of translucency. She curled up tightly, holding her belly as though protecting her unborn child, even in her restless sleep.
He didn't know if it was the right decision to have her treated here. Perhaps he had frightened her, which was why she was so afraid.
His large hand reached out unconsciously to touch her face, then quickly withdrew as if gaining consciousness. He refused to let her vulnerability affect him.
Pity, isn't her acting enough to deceive you? Lost in his thoughts.
He sat down by the bed, staring at her protruding belly, wanting to light a cigarette but dropped the cigarette box on the floor instead...
Making a sound!
The woman on the bed suddenly woke up, opening her eyes--
At this moment, the doctor pushed the door open, followed by the nurse from last night, holding an IV bag and syringe. "Miss Anderson, it's time for your morning nutrition infusion."
"You all get out! That's not nutrition, it's meant to induce premature labor. You won't harm my child again!" Winnie struggled in fear, grabbing something by the bed and throwing it.
"Winnie!" Lawrence R said.
With a deeply furrowed brow, Lawrence R didn't understand why she acted so startled and impulsively tried to gently restrain her.
Winnie suddenly saw him and immediately lost her rationality, slapping him hard with a red gaze filled with hatred.
"Lawrence R, you're so heartless. They secretly injected me with some unknown drug last night. Your child will be killed by them. It's Darcy, she bribed the doctors for sure!"
"..." Lawrence R forcefully restrained her, expressing doubt,
"What nonsense are you talking about? Darcy has no idea about this nursing home. I arranged it myself at the last minute. How could she immediately bribe the doctors?"
Darcy appeared at the door, slightly smirking. She came prepared, knowing Winnie would have a hard time defending herself.
She indeed didn't have time to bribe the doctors last night, but she had her parents here. Using the Ordelia family's medical privileges, what couldn't be resolved?
"I'm not talking nonsense." Winnie pointed at the surveillance, "Do you know they abuse me? They serve me cold leftovers, trying to make me sick. They turned off the surveillance at one-point last night and then came in and pushed medicine on me. If you don't believe me, go check!"
"Miss Anderson, we understand your condition, but your accusations are completely unfounded. Last night, I pleaded with you to eat," the nurse argued.
Lawrence R furrowed his brow, gesturing for the hospital director to bring the surveillance footage.
According to the surveillance, the female nurse genuinely asked Winnie to eat, but Winnie knocked over the food.
Only after watching the footage did Winnie realize that the nurse intentionally turned away from the camera, making it blurry and unable to clearly see the watery soup!
The nurse pointed at the missing part of the footage and said,
"This is the time for Miss Anderson to wash up and change into clean clothes. Mr. Rodriguez, because the surveillance is monitored in real-time for security purposes, it was inconvenient for them to see Miss Anderson washing up, so we turned it off for a few minutes.” The nurse defended.
“If there's any problem, the hospital director can make arrangements for a separate 24-hour surveillance of Miss Anderson."
"They're lying!" Winnie clenched her lips. "Lawrence R, I wouldn’t lie to you. Let me out of here; staying here is dangerous for our baby. The medications they're using are all meant to induce premature labor, and Darcy is behind it all!"
The man looked at her, took a deep breath, and instructed the doctor, "Open the IV bag now and test it in front of her."
"If there's a problem with the medicine, I'll switch hospitals immediately for you," he said to Winnie.
