Chapter 938 He Protects Olivia
Now that the medical report and the recording were out in the open, Lynn knew she was in deep trouble. No matter how much she tried to argue, no one would believe her in the face of such evidence.
"Wow, Lynn is really that vicious? Olivia's family didn't do anything to her, and she framed Olivia's dad out of jealousy?"
"She's got a really twisted mind, teaming up with Sam like that."
"A woman with such deep schemes is terrifying. I wouldn't dare marry her."
"I heard from a good friend that Lynn loves going to those shady clubs. No wonder she has gynecological issues. And she had the nerve to blame Jeremy, claiming a miscarriage made her infertile? What a joke. If she's infertile, it's her own doing!"
"She's treating the DeRoss family like fools. Mr. Louis DeRoss, Mr. Jeremy DeRoss, you don't owe this woman anything!"
The murmurs turned what should have been a joyous wedding into a chaotic scene.
It was as if each word was a knife, cutting through Lynn's facade of innocence.
She was panicking. The pity people once had for her turned into hatred, and she became the target of everyone's scorn.
Her main reason for marrying Jeremy was gone. Jeremy was definitely not going to marry her today.
She knew Jeremy was eager to back out!
Lynn lost control, her eyes turning red as she glared at the person responsible for all this—Olivia.
This wretched woman had ruined her happiness with just a few words.
No wonder Olivia had said before the wedding, "Lynn, you'll get what you deserve today."
She had planned it all.
Lynn, in a fit of madness, lunged at Olivia, her hands reaching for Olivia's neck, screaming, "You wretch, are you happy now that you've ruined me? I'll take you down with me today!"
Olivia narrowed her eyes, but Lynn moved too quickly for her to dodge.
Just as Lynn's hands were about to choke her, the expected pain didn't come.
Jeremy stepped in, blocking Lynn's crazed attack with his arm, and pulled Olivia to safety, his arm around her slender waist.
Lynn's face was filled with rage and shock as she looked at Jeremy.
Her manicured nails had scratched Jeremy's hand, leaving a thin, bright line of blood.
"Jeremy... Jeremy, why are you protecting her? She ruined me!" Lynn was driven mad with jealousy seeing Olivia in Jeremy's protective embrace. Jeremy had never held her like that, never!
He only had eyes for this wretch.
She couldn't stand it and screamed, "Jeremy, how can you do this to me?"
"Why should I care about you?" Jeremy's handsome face showed a hint of disdain, his voice cold and indifferent as he looked at Lynn with contempt. "You're the one crying wolf. I think you're out of your mind.
Since you're healthy, I don't need to marry you. Besides, I never intended to marry you.
Officers, since you're here, take whoever needs to be investigated. This place needs to be cleared of some people!"
"Jeremy... what are you saying? You're having the police arrest me?" Lynn's eyes turned red, her body trembling. "We've been engaged for three years, and you have no feelings for me at all?"
Jeremy didn't even bother to respond, his eyes cold behind his glasses.
Olivia, standing under Jeremy's tall frame, frowned and spoke up, "You and Sam are accomplices. Shouldn't you be taken in for questioning?"
"Hahaha..."
Lynn looked at the two of them together, her mind on the verge of breaking. She glared at Olivia with twisted hatred, sneering, "Olivia, have you forgotten? I have something on you! If you dare to target me today, I'll make you regret it."
With that, Lynn produced half of the antidote, holding it high above her head.
Olivia's eyes sharpened, and she broke free from Jeremy, rushing towards Lynn. She had to get it. Exposing Lynn's true face was something she had to do today. She had calculated that in the ensuing chaos, she would be able to grab the antidote.
"Lynn, give me my dad's antidote!" Olivia leaped at Lynn.
"Give it to you? I'll make you regret it, wretch!" Lynn crushed the antidote in her hand, turning it to powder.
Olivia was caught off guard, her face turning cold as she tried to pry Lynn's hand open to retrieve the remnants.
But she realized the antidote had been tampered with. Once crushed, it dissolved into the liquid.
A puddle of medicine dripped from Lynn's fingers.
Lynn laughed triumphantly, her eyes fixed on Olivia. "Didn't expect that, did you? You thought you could get the antidote just by confirming it? Even if I let you try, you couldn't get it! You ruined my marriage, so I'll make sure your dad dies with me. Hahaha..."
She laughed maniacally, but Winnie dragged her up. "Officers, please take this criminal away."
The police approached, restraining the struggling Lynn. They glanced at the 'evidence' on the big screen and whispered to Winnie, "We'll take Lynn in for questioning, but the recording seems to have been made illegally. It can't be used as evidence in court. Ms. Smith should be aware of this."
Winnie frowned. She and Olivia had anticipated this.
That's why they had waited until now to release the recording, knowing it couldn't be used as legal evidence to directly prove Lynn's guilt.
Winnie raised an eyebrow. "I trust the police will conduct a thorough investigation. For now, Ms. Lynn Smith has caused a disturbance, injured Jeremy, and threatened Ms. Olivia Smith. She should be taken to the station for that, right?"
The police nodded. "Ms. Smith, please come with Mr. DeRoss to the station."
"I won't go." Lynn's eyes were still fixed on Jeremy, unwilling to give up.
Seeing Jeremy's eyes filled with affection for Olivia, Lynn broke down again, clenching her fists. "Olivia, I won't let you get away with this."
Winnie heard her and leaned in, her smile not reaching her eyes. "Your good days end today. They are a family of three. You know it, I know it. Lynn, don't test my limits!"
Lynn's face changed, realizing the implication. Winnie had practically confirmed the paternity test.
Lynn clenched her fists. She wouldn't give up until the last moment. She couldn't let the secret be revealed!
