Chapter 909 Let You Marry Me

"Who from the DeRoss family? I heard Jeremy came back to Lymington a few days ago. It can't be him..."

"Sam," Olivia spat out the name like it was poison.

Winnie’s eyes widened, and anger surged through her.

"Is that jerk out of his mind? He still won't leave the Smith family alone?" Winnie clenched her fists, her phone gripped tightly. "Sam's a nobody in the DeRoss family. He doesn't have much pull. I can make a few calls to the Lymington police and see if they can release your dad."

"But Winnie, your connections in Lymington..." Olivia hesitated.

Winnie smirked, "I can use Lawrence's network, can't I? And if that doesn't work, the Blanchet family from Trento City can step in."

She walked away to make the call.

Olivia waited, anxiety gnawing at her.

About ten minutes later, Winnie returned, her face tense. Olivia's heart sank. Getting help for a murder case might not be easy.

"Winnie, can my dad be released for medical treatment because of his heart condition?"

"I put pressure on the Lymington police using Lawrence and Ray's names. At first, they were scared and agreed to release your dad for treatment and re-investigate the crime scene. But a few minutes later, they called back. The Thomas family had already taken your dad to court, accusing him of intentional murder. They couldn't persuade the Thomas family, and applying pressure didn't work. The Thomas family insists on charging your dad with murder. The police said that unless the Thomas family backs down, your dad's case won't be resolved."

Winnie's tone was icy. "We've run into some powerful people."

Olivia suddenly realized the key point. The Thomas family wasn't the powerful ones; they were just pawns.

The real mastermind was Sam.

That despicable jerk.

"Olivia! Don't worry. I'll go to the Lymington police myself and make sure your dad is released." Winnie was worried about Olivia's pregnancy and didn't want to stress her out. She quickly left to drive to the police department and start negotiations.

Olivia stood still, her chest heaving, her emotions boiling over.

She turned and made a call, her voice steady. After several seconds, Sam's sinister laugh came through the line, "Olivia, is this your number?"

"Sam, you're behind all this, aren't you? Your family supports the Thomas family. You're related!

You control the Thomas family and are accusing my dad of murder!

Why are you doing this to my dad? What grudge do you have against me to destroy my family like this? Tell me! If I could, I'd kill you right now."

"You're not as dumb as I thought. You figured it out quickly," Sam said with a twisted laugh that carried a hint of admiration.

He leaned closer to the phone, his voice slimy like a snake, "Kill me? You can't.

But you can come to me and beg. Maybe I'll let your dad avoid the death penalty.

You know, all the evidence is against him. The victim was found with his ashtray. It's hard to clear his name, even with your friend Winnie's help. I've made sure the Thomas family will push for your dad's conviction."

"You have no options left. Just wait for your dad to be sentenced to death."

Olivia's heart ached, but she sensed there was more to Sam's words. He wanted her to come to him, as if this was all part of his plan. There must be something to negotiate.

She gritted her teeth, "Fine, I'll come and beg!"

She needed to understand his true intentions. What did he want from her?

Olivia, filled with confusion, took a cab to Sam's apartment. The door was wide open, and inside was a mess. Sam lounged on the couch with a woman, both disheveled, with used condoms nearby.

Olivia felt nauseous immediately. She instinctively covered her stomach and turned away. Sam pushed the woman aside, sat up, and looked at Olivia's pale face. Her sharp chin and gaunt appearance made her large, clear eyes stand out, filled with pride. Her frail body and petite frame made her seem in need of protection. And she was indeed attractive, with a slender figure and a delicate face.

No wonder Jeremy had been obsessed with her for so long. Despite having a child, she still had a pure aura, a womanly figure, and a fiery personality. She'd argue with you at the drop of a hat. Jeremy liked that?

Sam raised an eyebrow, thinking she might be fun to handle, though her pregnancy was a downer. He grinned and stood up. "Olivia, starting to feel morning sickness?"

Olivia felt even more nauseous hearing his slimy voice. She hated him deeply and kept her distance, her eyes filled with hatred, "Get that woman out of here!"

"Fine." Sam pushed the woman out, handing her some money, "Get lost."

He turned back, grinning, "Sit down, Olivia. Don't be so distant. We're old friends, after all. Let's have a chat."

"Stay away from me! Don't disgust me." Olivia waved her hand, trying to clear the air, feeling like she was on pins and needles. Her sharp eyes cut into him, "You've been plotting since Finn, using the Thomas family to imprison my dad and even killing Joshua! What's your goal? Spill it!"

"You're sharp, Olivia. Your hacking skills are better than those idiots at the police station. Yes, I set this up to get your dad in trouble. Only when your dad is in trouble will you be under my control, and you can't resist. You wouldn't risk your father's life. He needs a heart transplant, right? If he gets beaten in custody or something happens, or if he's convicted of murder, can he handle the stress? He might die from a heart attack before the death sentence is even passed."

Olivia's eyes filled with despair. He voiced all her fears! She could try to find evidence to clear Jake's name and fight Sam, but Jake couldn't wait that long. His condition was critical, and he could die from a heart attack at any moment!

Olivia had to get Jake out quickly. She bit her lip. "You want to make a deal, right? What do you want? Tell me!"

"Remember this: the Thomas family won't let your dad go, so he won't be released."

"Say it!" Olivia shouted.

Sam's sinister eyes fell on her face, his smile twisted, "Marry me."
