Chapter 106 Lawrence saves her

Winnie snapped out of her daze, realizing she had just called Olivia with a borrowed phone, but the call had gone unanswered- Olivia might be occupied.

She knew the way, Winnie declined the passerby’s offer and continued down the small road with her scooter. The cold air nipped at her, prompting her to accelerate.

Suddenly, three motorcycles sped past from behind, charging straight towards her. Winnie tried to veer to the side, but failed to do so in time. She quickly got off the scooter, sensing that those three individuals had malicious intentions. She skited around a construction site, knowing that Olivia's house was just behind the villas.

Winnie walked along the road next to the construction site for a while, it was dark, and without navigation on her phone, she quickly got lost.

When she looked up again, she suddenly realized she was being cornered by those three motorcycles in the middle of the construction site.

A helicopter flew north across Lymington city.

In a somber tone, Luke reported, "Imperial Jewelry's CEO, the villa's bodyguard said Mrs. L fled on an electric scooter..."

"A bunch of useless people. Can't they even monitor a woman. Was the scooters’ location not tracked?" Mr. L's forehead throbbed continuously, filled with anger.

Luke believed he was intimidating too. He didn't expect Imperial Jewelry's CEO to ignore the old lady and come straight for Mrs. L.

It was evident that Mrs. L held a significant position in the heart of Imperial Jewelry's CEO... It is feared that if caught, he would tear her apart.

"It takes some time to activate the electric scooter's location," Luke added anxiously.

The helicopter flew in circles, unsure of where to find the person.

Suddenly, Mr. L’s phone rang. It was Olivia calling, her tone filled with urgency. "Mr. L? What’s happening with Winnie? She called me from a stranger's phone just now. I missed the call, but when I called back, the stranger said she had left, appearing disoriented. I'm concerned for her safety…”

"In which location is the stranger?" Mr. L asked coldly.

"At the bank on South Street."

"Go there and land!" Mr. L commanded the pilot.

The helicopter descended rapidly onto South Street, and Mr. L disembarked, striding purposefully. A few hundred meters away, he spotted the electric scooter parked on the roadside.

Yet, she was nowhere to be seen.

With anger flashing in his cold eyes, he scanned his surroundings but only noticed a large building across the road on the left.

His brow twitched inexplicably.

Damn woman, she had driven the electric scooter this far to escape him. How could she abandon it now? She was defenseless and shrouded in darkness...

Luke pointed to the right and said, "Mrs. L, wouldn't likely venture towards the construction site. There's a supermarket on the right, she might have sought refuge there."

Mr. L glanced towards the supermarket, his gaze turning serious.

Winnie stood in the darkness, and the three motorcycles were out of sight.

The deserted building under construction was somewhat eerie.

Stranded without a phone, she couldn't illuminate the area and could not decide the direction. In that moment, there was a sound of steel pipes coming from upstairs.

Startled, every hair on her body stood on end. Was there someone upstairs?

She quickly gathered her wits and was about to run forward when an eerie laugh echoed from above. There really was someone!

In the pitch-black, the familiar voice carried and almost divine quality. “Winnie”

Mr. L? How did he end up here?

Before she could think any further, the man shouted at her, "Get out of the way!"

Winnie was stunned, unable to see, and then something crashed down from above!

Looking up, she vaguely saw a piece of glass falling from a three-story building. Petrified, she was unable to move.

In that instant, a man rushed towards her unexpectedly.

Winnie was protected by familiar warmth. Mr. L hadn't let her fall. She only heard a dull thump above her.

Soon after, drops of blood splattered onto her face.

Winnie panicked, "Mr. L... you're bleeding...!"

"Haha," a chilling laughter from upstairs suddenly descended rapidly.

A flash of cold light, and chaos ensued. Winnie only knew that she didn't move, nor was she thrown and fell to the ground. There were probably two sounds of a knife piercing into a body, as Mr. L protected her fiercely like an immovable rock.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Mr. L, are you injured? Tell me!"

He didn't dodge the attack to protect their unborn child. He shielded both mother and child, motionless.

Finally, when he gently pulled her away, he said, "Be careful and run."

Winnie endured, uncertain of what lay ahead.

Running with a white face, Winnie turned her head and saw a man with a knife attacking ferociously in the darkness, aiming to take his life at every swing...

"Mr. L! Damn it!" Luke burst in with his bodyguards.

In an instant, the man with the knife fled.

Winnie ran towards him. He stood motionless, blood in the air.

He was wearing a black suit, tall and imposing. Winnie couldn't see where he was injured at all. Her voice trembled, "Oh my... Are you okay?"

"Just a minor injury, don't cry!" he sternly reprimanded her, swiftly picking her. "Let's go."

"Call an ambulance, hurry!" Luke's voice sounded grave, and Winnie heard it.

In the office, after receiving the call, Darcy stood up shocked. "What? Mr. L saved Winnie and got stabbed by the attacker?"

How was that possible? She arranged everything, and Mr. L was far away in the northern district. How did he find Winnie so fast?

The assistant was at a loss. "Imperial Jewelry's CEO finished the meeting early and received a call from the villa. As for how he found Winnie so quickly, no one knows."

Darcy's face darkened. Her calculated plans could never outwit Winnie's luck, that wretched woman. Now she implicated Mr. L!

She didn't expect to harm herself at this time.

Darcy forcefully swept the files off the table and walked out. "Which hospital was Mr. L taken to?"

Outside the operating room, Winnie held his personal belongings, anxiously waiting.

She remembered his back covered in blood when he was carried in... It was shocking.

He had lost so much blood, yet he didn't say a word as he carried her out of the construction site, not stopping until the ambulance arrived. His imposing figure leaned motionless on the stretcher... Who exactly is this man? Winnie couldn't figure him out. He was both magnificent and powerful, domineering and ruthless, yet he fought for her without a second thought.

If it weren't for him, she would have died.

Fear and regret filled her face.

Soon, Benjamin and Jeremy arrived.

The surgery was quick, and two hours later, he was wheeled out.

Benjamin and Jeremy rushed over to speak with the doctor.

Winnie suddenly stood up. Olivia saw his pale handsome face lying there with closed eyes, covered in bandages on his head and body.

Winnie walked over slowly, after Benjamin finished talking with the doctor and turned around to look at her.

His eyes flickered, and he sighed heavily, "How did it come to this?"

Winnie's heart skipped a beat. She looked up at him?

Benjamin, in anguish, covered his eyes. "Mrs. L, the doctor said Mr. L is in critical condition! That's why he was brought out so quickly. A glass hit his head, causing severe intracranial hemorrhage. He might not make it through tonight... well, if you have anything to say to Mr. L, now's the time. Perhaps this is your last chance."

"What?" Winnie felt like she was standing on thin ice and could hardly maintain her balance.
