Chapter 757 Carlos Urges Cooperation
"I'm fine! Dad, are you feeling better?" Winnie walked to the bedside and helped him sit up.
"Every day is a little better than the last," Carlos sighed.
"That's good news," Rock said, his eyes glinting slightly as he spoke, seemingly unintentionally. "Dad's consciousness is really improving; he even asked about some company matters last night."
Mentioning the Blanchet Group, Carlos stared directly at Rock.
His eyes were fixed on Rock, his mind occupied with one thing. Suddenly, he called out to Winnie, "Winnie, I need to talk to you!"
Winnie was wondering why Carlos suddenly asked about the Blanchet Group. Hadn't she already brushed it off?
Carlos spoke in a deep voice, "Damn it, Patrick and Eleanor betrayed me and almost took over the Blanchet Group. The Blanchet Group has gone through such a big upheaval, and you just became the director. You might not be able to handle those shareholders. I was thinking of bringing Rock into the Blanchet Group to help you.
He added, "I asked Rock yesterday, and he said there's a big real estate project that could collaborate with the Blanchet Group. But you haven't finalized it yet. There's no need to think about it, Winnie. You two are married; you should join forces and develop the Blanchet Group and the Harrington Group together. I trust Rock, so you can just sign the contract!"
Winnie was stunned, unable to react.
How did Carlos know about Patrick and Eleanor's affair and their attempt to take over the Blanchet Group?
She thought his mental state couldn't handle it, so she kept it from him.
Instinctively, she looked at Rock with suspicion. Was he the one who told Carlos?
And did Rock mention the collaboration between the Harrington Group and the Blanchet Group last night?
Otherwise, how would Carlos know?
He had been in a coma for a long time, and upon waking up, he seemed very close to Rock.
Although Carlos had praised Rock for being young and capable before, he didn't know him that well.
"Dad, you just woke up, and you're worried about the company?" Winnie asked, puzzled.
"Do you think I'm confused?" Carlos teased, coughing slightly but remaining stubborn. "You're a girl, after all. You need a man to help you hold up the Blanchet Group.
It will take some time for me to fully recover. Once the Harrington Group and the Blanchet Group sign the collaboration, Rock can rightfully join the company to help you."
Winnie retorted, "But Dad, there are still many things to integrate between the two companies."
"It's settled! Are you not going to listen to me?" Carlos said sternly.
Winnie looked bewildered.
Rock, standing by, said nothing. He gently served Carlos some soup and smiled, "Dad, Winnie might have her considerations. I'm not insisting on the collaboration between the Harrington Group and the Blanchet Group."
"I've thought it through; the collaboration is imperative," Carlos said, his eyes vacant.
Winnie frowned, finding Carlos's stubborn attitude strange.
But since he had just started to recover, she didn't want to go against him. Maybe he was genuinely satisfied with Rock as his son-in-law.
She sighed inwardly and said, "I'll go back and start preparing for the collaboration contract. However, the funding for the real estate project is substantial, and it will take time for the company to process the transactions."
Rock squinted slightly.
Even though Carlos had pressured her as a father, she didn't immediately agree.
He concealed his dark thoughts and smiled, "I'm fine with it, Dad. I just want to do what I can for the Blanchet Group."
Carlos said, "Rock, you're good. I'm satisfied with your intentions. Winnie, you should live well with Rock."
Carlos seemed very pleased, smiling at Rock. However, a hint of confusion flashed in his eyes, as if he didn't understand what he had just said.
"Dad," Winnie observed sharply, feeling that Carlos's mental state was unstable. "Are you okay?"
Carlos replied, "I'm fine. Maybe I talked too much and got tired. I don't even remember what we were talking about."
Carlos smiled vaguely, rubbing his temples. "Let's eat. After the meal, you all go about your business, and I'll rest."
"Should we call Mark to check on you?" Winnie asked, worried.
Rock immediately held Carlos's hand, "Winnie, Dad might really be tired."
"Yes, I'm really tired," Carlos automatically echoed.
Winnie checked his forehead temperature and pulse, which were normal, though he seemed a bit anemic.
His mental state couldn't be assessed immediately. "Then you rest first. In the afternoon, I'll have the caretaker call Mark to do an MRI to check on your brain's recovery."
Rock's eyes flickered, but he said nothing.
The three of them had lunch together, and Carlos soon fell asleep.
Rock cleaned up the lunch boxes and stood up, "Winnie, let's go. Let's not disturb Dad's rest."
Winnie left the hospital and got into Rock's car, looking preoccupied.
She felt that Carlos was different from when she visited him a few days ago, very stubborn.
Regarding the collaboration between the Harrington Group and the Blanchet Group.
It seemed as though he had been bewitched, stubbornly insisting that she sign the collaboration contract.
The Blanchet Group was, after all, Carlos's company. She was just managing it on his behalf and couldn't go against his decisions.
But letting Rock into the Blanchet Group handle the real estate collaboration was a significant matter. Winnie thought for a moment and said, "Rock, for the big project collaboration, I'll still go through a shareholder vote before signing with you."
Rock gripped the steering wheel, smiling, "I didn't expect Dad to trust me so much. I'm not in a hurry, but our collaboration is truly a win-win."
"I know, but we need to follow the procedure," Winnie said gently, looking at him.
Rock sneered inwardly. If she kept dragging her feet, he would have Carlos sign it himself.
After all, with the medication, Carlos was easy to manipulate.
In any case, he needed to quickly get involved in the Blanchet Group. He wasn't blind; he saw her entangled with Lawrence at noon.
"Winnie, are you busy this afternoon?" At a red light, Rock gently took her hand.
He smiled and said, "Since we got married, I haven't taken you out to a movie. How about we give ourselves a little break this afternoon and you come with me to see a movie?"
Winnie thought that if she went back to the company and Lawrence was still in her lounge, it would be hard to deal with.
It would be better if she didn't go back; he would leave on his own.
She agreed, "Sure, let's go see a movie."
Rock affectionately ruffled her hair. "Last time, you gave me a tie. I also want to buy you some clothes and jewelry."
They watched a movie, shopped at the mall, and had dinner outside before returning to Rock's villa.
Winnie went to her guest room and smiled at Rock at the door, "I'm going to take a shower. You should rest early too."
Rock watched her walk into the bedroom, her graceful figure making his eyes narrow.
Winnie thought he would go to the study, so she didn't lock the door and went into the bathroom.
But this time, Rock didn't leave. He walked straight to her bathroom.
The sound of trickling water inflamed Rock's desire, especially since the stunning Winnie was inside.
