Chapter 70 Pretending to be Harmless

Winnie never expected Sophia to be so cruel as to cut off a six-year-old child's finger.

The Anderson family was in chaos. Sophia and Matthew had completely fallen apart, which was what she wanted, but releasing the video of the illegitimate child was her doing after all.

After the child was kidnapped by Sophia, Winnie immediately notified the Anderson family's grandmother, who rescued the child in time, allowing the finger to be reattached.

Today, Winnie confirmed the situation at the hospital before leaving with Olivia.
"Your dad wishes you dead, and you're still thinking about his illegitimate child," Olivia complained.

"It's unrelated. It's just a six-year-old child," Winnie said and subconsciously looked at her own belly.

"When will you start showing? Have you asked L if he wants a boy or a girl?"

Winnie blinked her almond eyes, their conversation

I haven't chatted with children before... we weren't familiar, but now we are.

Winnie immediately forwarded Olivia's original message.

On the messaging app, a certain man replied with a question mark.

He must have been surprised by her message.

Winnie smiled, seeing that he replied with a few more words: "If the trial marriage goes smoothly, both the man and the woman should have it, preferably enough for a whole soccer team."

"..." Winnie was speechless.

"Am I a pig?" Winnie rolled her eyes.

"I think your description is not accurate enough, little sow, isn't that right?"

"..." Winnie bit her lip and was about to say something when Olivia looked over.
"Hmph, having fun chatting with L? Winnie, I've noticed that your relationship has progressed by leaps and bounds since coming back from the hot springs. Were you two able to flirt through messages before? Come clean, was it that night?"

Looking at her teasing gaze, Winnie was speechless.

Come on, they only exchanged a few sentences.

"You send a message, and he replies instantly. L is also a CEO, right? He's so busy, but you guys act like you're in a romantic relationship." Olivia in detective mode.

Winnie sighed helplessly and blushed as she explained everything.

Olivia exclaimed, "Wow, so you actually did it, fuck. Who was the one who pledged a marriage in the beginning? And now you want to talk about love with L."

"It's just a trial marriage," Winnie covered her face, her watery eyes shimmering.

"It's just to see how things go. He wants a stable marriage, and I understand that. Businessmen rarely consider marriage as love. Besides, as for my feelings, it's far from liking and loving. I want to see how serious he is about me."

"A proud man like L wouldn't pursue you if he wasn't satisfied both inside and out. As for you... well, I feel like you're already halfway in the liking camp. Marrying first and then falling in love, it's like tinder and kindling, and a man like him, you can't resist him."

"What's there to resist? He only has a good physique, and there's a scar on his face."

Olivia widened her eyes, "Have you seen L's true appearance?!"

"No, I only saw a glimpse before he stopped me."

Olivia coughed and immediately comforted her, "Having a scar is great! That's what you call a manly charm! Actually, perfect men like L are rare in this world. L is more approachable, don't you think, Winnie?"

Winnie looked at her, speechless.

Her phone rang, it was an unknown number.

Winnie answered, and to her surprise, it was Darcy.
She squinted her eyes slightly and smiled faintly, "Darcy, do you need something?"

"Mrs. L, well, I want to give your baby a few sets of clothes. Mr. L saved me the other day, and I want to express my gratitude. After thinking it over, I thought it would be best to thank Mrs. L directly."

Darcy's tone was sweet and familiar, bringing their relationship closer, while also expressing the intention to keep a distance from L.

Winnie understood everything.

She nodded with a slight smile, "Alright, where shall we meet?"

"How about Queen's Square?" Darcy said happily.

Winnie hung up and told Olivia the address. Olivia drove them there, and Winnie pulled her along.

"Since you have nothing to do, come and meet her with me."

"Who is it?"

Olivia was asking as Darcy walked in from the entrance. The woman was wearing a fitted professional attire, with long hair cascading down in soft curls. Her face was extraordinarily beautiful, exuding an elegant charm as she moved gracefully, emanating a subtle air of nobility.

Winnie observed quietly, and Olivia seemed somewhat stupefied. This woman was strikingly comparable to Winnie when it came to physical beauty.

As Darcy approached, she playfully winked and said, "Hey, Mrs. L, is this your friend?"

"Miss Ordelia, her name is Olivia," Winnie replied with a gentle smile.

"Hello, Olivia!" Darcy waved her hand and smiled back.

"I'm sorry for the intrusion, Mrs. L. You must have had a tiring day. Let's take a seat and chat," Darcy said, holding a delicate logo bag in her hand that didn't appear to be a luxury item, but rather a handmade piece.

Winnie caught a glimpse of her wristwatch, subtly guessing its price to be worth millions of dollars.

They ordered hot tea, and Olivia, being curious about everything, laughed and asked, "Miss Ordelia, where are you from? I know Lymington well, but I've never seen such a beautiful lady like you before."

"Oh, Olivia, you flatter me. I'm from Trento City and working at Mr. L's company, diligently carrying out my duties as an employee," Darcy half-jokingly replied.

Winnie glanced at her watch again. Trento City? Could she be from the famous century-old pharmaceutical dynasty, the Ordelia family of Trento City?

Trento City was a metropolis that Winnie wasn't familiar with when it came to prominent influential families, but if there was one connection... Winnie vaguely recalled in her childhood, hearing the servants mention that her mother and grandfather also came from Trento City, seemingly arriving abruptly in Lymington...

Snapping back from her distracted thoughts, Winnie thought that Darcy was indeed a debutante, her refined demeanor revealing hints of her background.

"All these little clothes are made with the finest natural fabrics. They can be worn once the little baby is born, even though it might be a little early. Mrs. L, take good care of yourself and let Mr. L spoil you. You'll give birth effortlessly when the time comes," Darcy said with a smile and a playful wink.

At that moment, the desserts arrived, and Darcy stood up to fetch them and proactively handed them to Winnie and Olivia. She didn't put on any airs.

Olivia couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed.

The three of them chatted for a while until Darcy received a call from her company.
She stood up, apologizing with a sincere smile, and earnestly shook Winnie's hand. "Mrs. L, I hope we can become great friends. Can we? Let's spend more time together."

"Sure," Winnie replied with a smile.

With the items delivered, Darcy happily left.

Winnie watched her disappear into the elevator with a smiling gaze, lost in thought.

Munching on her dessert, Olivia asked, "Is she your new friend? L's sister? I heard her calling you Mrs. L."

"What do you think of this girl?" Winnie asked with a hint of a smile.

"Enthusiastic, gentle, and quite kind, isn't she? She proactively helped us get desserts without any airs of being a Miss. It's rare to come across such a down-to-earth girl," Olivia laughed.

She has great senses.

Winnie smiled, squinting her eyes, "That watch of hers, I think it's worth a million dollars. What if I told you she's not ordinary? She's the manager of the L branch. What do you think?"

Olivia was taken aback and slowly furrowed her brows.

Winnie smiled subtly, "Isn't it a bit strange? Female vice presidents usually exude an aura; their speech is sharp and concise. But she is too approachable and warm, like a little girl with no hidden agenda. It contradicts her profession."

Olivia frowned, starting to understand. A person's work and personal characteristics can be separate, but not to this extent.

"Are you saying she's not a good person? Purposefully making friends with you to deceive you?" Olivia asked.

Winnie shrugged, squinting her eyes. "I don't start off being hostile to people, but if someone is hostile towards me, I can definitely tell."

And I will observe how things unfold.

What intrigued her now was how a wealthy young lady could be working for L’s company. How deep was this sister's affection for her brother... or is the L Company truly powerful?

Winnie returned to the villa with the baby clothes—
