Chapter 324 Finding the Children

Darcy grabbed Oscar by the hair and vented, "You think you're so clever, causing trouble for me multiple times, just like that vile Winnie!"

Oscar stared back at her, his gaze sharp. Suddenly, he tried to speak however was unable to make any sound because of the tape that was covering his mouth. It seemed like he really wanted to say something. Darcy frowned, leaning in to hear what he had to say. The woman looked around fearlessly, then ripped off the tape covering his mouth. She grumbled, "I can see that you're at death's door so I will allow you to say your last words."

"Phew!" A spray of saliva suddenly landed on her face. Despite the wounds and a battered face, Oscar coldly curled his lips and stared defiantly at her.

Darcy's face turned red, infuriated by the saliva that covered her face. "You're quite gutsy, you little bastard."

In the depths of Oscar's intelligent eyes, fear lingered as he observed Sidney's uneven breathing. It became evident to Oscar that Sidney was not in a better condition than him. Since meeting Sidney, Oscar couldn't shake off the self-blame, convinced that he had deprived Sidney of essential nourishment during their time inside their mother's womb, resulting in Sidney's persistent poor health.

At this moment, he knew they couldn't escape together as brothers. He was determined to find a way to protect Sidney from torture. Oscar deliberately egged on Darcy, mocking, "I possess courage, unlike you—a deceitful woman who shamelessly clings to my father, wreaking havoc on other people's families and causing harm to my mother for far too long!

"The key point is that even a child like me can see that my father doesn't like you. Why can't you understand such a simple truth, you shameless hag!"

Darcy's face flushed with rage.

Oscar narrowed his eyes coldly. "You're so slow-witted. Are you only realizing now that we are brothers? You must be scared. That's why you planned this kidnapping to get back at us. Let me tell you, our father will definitely come to rescue us, and your conspiracy will be exposed."

"Do you think I'll let him find out that both of you are still alive?" Darcy confidently replied, fury ablaze. She suddenly sneered and said, "Since your mouth is so vile, I'll make sure you can't speak, and you'll taste pain."

She signaled to the kidnappers and they threw Oscar to the ground. Darcy proceeded to search Oscar's pockets and pulled out something. "As I suspected." She chuckled softly, grasping the inhaler she found. "You have asthma?"

It was only at this moment that Oscar began to feel truly unsettled. A subtle shift in his gaze did not go unnoticed by Darcy.

Darcy continued, "Do you honestly believe you could swap the medicine without me noticing? I had discovered the inhaler earlier and sensed that something was wrong. It's surprising to find out there are two of you, twins. Winnie concealed you so effectively, Oscar. Your return after three years went unnoticed. However, now that I've uncovered this truth, only one of you will make it through tonight. Oscar, are you prepared to sacrifice yourself willingly to save Sidney?"

As she spoke, she threw the inhaler away, making it completely disappear. With a lift of her hand, one of the kidnappers immediately submerged Oscar's head into the water.

"Urgh!" Oscar endured firmly because Darcy had threatened to harm Sidney if he dared to struggle.

"Come out, Oscar!" Sidney screamed, bewildered and wide-eyed. He watched as Oscar drowned, his eyes then shifting to the inhaler that had vanished in the distance – Oscar's life-saving medication. Desperate, Sidney attempted to reach for it, but one of the kidnappers promptly stomped on his hand, forcefully kicking him aside.

Meanwhile, not far away, Darcy pulled Oscar's head out of the water, knowing well that asthma patients couldn't endure enclosed spaces, let alone drowning. Within just a minute, Oscar's face turned purple as he struggled desperately to take deep breaths. Despite his efforts, he couldn't draw in air, trembling in pain as he curled up into a ball. His attempts to open his mouth and fill his lungs were futile; it seemed as though his throat had closed off. Tears filled his big, red eyes as he continued to struggle.

"I thought you were more tenacious. Seems like you can't hold on for long," Darcy said cruelly. She was intentionally trying to trigger his asthma attack.

"Let him go! Oscar! Oscar!" Sidney shouted in despair as Oscar's head was once again submerged into the water. Sidney, who was usually cold-hearted, shed tears. He was being held by the kidnapper and couldn't struggle free. He cried uncontrollably, "Dad, why haven't you come to save us?" But Oscar cast a comforting glance at him from the corner of his eye, a faint, twinkling smile.

As Oscar's face darkened and his asthma attack worsened, Darcy directed the kidnapper to lift the little boy. Squinting, she peered into the depths of the cave and instructed, "Throw him in. There isn't much air in there, he'll die quickly."

"No! You villain!" Sidney screamed, fearing his brother's safety.

"What's the rush? You're next, Sidney." Darcy blew some dust off her hand, signaling the kidnapper in a sinister manner. The kidnapper rushed forward, beating and kicking Sidney.

The woman then sauntered up to the upper level of the cave, while Mars calmly smoked a cigarette and glanced sideways. "You're really something. I can't bear listening to the screams of these two kids."

"That's because you don't know how much trouble these two little bastards can cause," Darcy remarked. Just the thought of Oscar exposing her indifference toward Sidney at the kindergarten, making Mr. L suspicious, made her grit her teeth. "They are two big troubles. They will join forces with Winnie to come after me," she added coldly. Curious, Darcy inquired, "By the way, did Mr. L actually go north?"

"Well, what do you think about my plan to lure the tiger out of the mountain? Isn't it smart of me?" Mars smirked.

"I did a good job for you by pushing the kidnappers onto Mr. Mitchell, whom Winnie offended. You are in the clear now. Lawrence and Winnie will also have a falling out because they definitely couldn't have imagined that there were no children in the van that kidnapped you. I instructed the driver to take you north before coming here. Currently, Lawrence, who is adept at detecting surveillance, is searching frantically up north. When he gets here... Ha, it will be too late for everything." Mars let out a devilish laugh.

"By then, I will also be a victim of this kidnapping, heavily injured, and Sidney, unfortunately killed," Darcy schemed. Winnie remained unaware that she had two twin sons and couldn't recognize the difference between Sidney and Oscar. She genuinely believed there was only one son, and that son was in grave danger.

"Mars, you're always so clever." Darcy embraced him, bringing their lips together.

Winnie and Olivia found themselves disoriented at the base of the southern hills after the red dot Oscar had sent disappeared, guiding them to that location. The expansive and towering southern hills posed a challenge in deciding where to initiate their search. As the night advanced, each passing minute felt like a painful tug at Winnie's heart. Drenched in cold sweat, she grappled with a growing sense of powerlessness, on the verge of being overwhelmed. Her beloved Oscar had been missing for nearly six hours.

Her phone suddenly rang. Winnie lowered her head and clumsily pulled it out, seeing Lawrence's name on the caller ID. He had insisted on going north, and even after she had called him multiple times, begging him with a humiliated face, he heartlessly ignored her.

"Where are you in the southern hills?" he abruptly asked her through the phone.

"Huh?" Winnie failed to respond promptly.

"Come to the melting cave in the southern hills. The police dog smelled our son's clothes." The man's voice was hoarse and low, and after a second, he abruptly hung up.
