Chapter 83 Rock Harrington

Winnie blinked away her tears and smiled bitterly with a pale face, "Misunderstand what? Like Daniel said I was vomiting in the restroom, and Daniel was just supporting me. Even if L misjudged the situation, he should have at least asked about my condition at the time. Instead of helping me, he cursed me with vulgar words. Olivia, my heart is cold. He doesn't really care about me. Maybe he lost interest as soon as I agreed to be in a relationship with him..."

She couldn't suppress her bitter thoughts.

Olivia immediately interrupted, "Don't think like that. L seems mature and dignified, unlikely to lose control so easily. Could there be something else that upset him? You said he didn't help you?"

"Daniel said he did help me. I was unconscious when I was beaten, but he did bring me to the hospital at the entrance of the police station."

Olivia pondered and muttered, "You have offended the old Mr. Harrington with this case. I know a little about his temper. Can he be persuaded so easily by Daniel?" Olivia continued "Before you rush to lose faith in L,"

Winnie blinked, full of sorrowful thoughts, "maybe I don't really understand him. He can make me laugh when we are free, but when things happen, he abandons me. Maybe this is the nature of a man with a deep and cunning character. Also, his sister, there's something more to their relationship than meets the eye."

"Miss Ordelia? Have you noticed something?" Olivia questioned.

Winnie narrowed her eyes, her voice turning cold, "Scheming bitch. It's hard for both men and women to see through her. If it weren't for their blood relation, this sister would be interesting."

Olivia could hear the icy tone in Winnie’s voice, and her own face turned cold too, "That day, I almost thought she was kind and innocent. You need to guard yourself against this woman." Olivia cautioned Winnie.

Winnie felt desolate. What else should she guard against? "We've fought like this before but this time seems different somehow. Maybe there won't be a future."

Olivia sighed and analyzed, "You've just started your relationship, and you don't really know each other. Both of you have strong personalities, and ultimately, there's a lack of trust. You complain, and he gets angry. If you both calm down, things might get better. Who knows, he might apologize and show concern for you and the child in a couple of days..."

At that moment, Olivia's assistant brought her computer in.

Winnie immediately changed the topic, "Let's talk about tonight's events. It was really dangerous for you... The Harrington family withdrawing the lawsuit was a minor issue; otherwise, it would have been a serious commercial offense. Ava is truly vicious, not hesitating to sacrifice Triton..."

Winnie had her assistant close the door and whispered with a chilly tone, "After careful consideration, this incident doesn't seem like Ava's style. It's significant. Does Ava have the ability to target the Harrington family?"

Olivia was startled. "Are you saying that it was the supporter behind Sophia and her daughter who made a move?"

"At the very least, it was his idea. Did you find anything?" Winnie asked.

"I was just about to tell you," Olivia opened her computer, "After Sophia had a big fight with Matthew, she spent the night with this person named August. He is a business tycoon in Trento City, but he is just wealthy. Do you think he can control international judges, buy design drafts at a high price, and manipulate the old Mr. Harrington? I don't believe it."

"Mr. Hill?" Winnie frowned, "Couldn't you find any connections he has with more powerful people?"

"No. I can't reach into Trento City's circle. It's filled with influential figures; the consequences would be too terrifying."

Winnie furrowed her brows. The person behind Sophia was definitely not simple. It's not just August. The leads have gone cold. She said, "Right now, all we can do is wait for Laura's news and see if we can find out who's behind the international judges."

The next day, the police came to the hospital to take Winnie's statement. Due to the Harrington family withdrawing the lawsuit, this commercial case could be significant or inconsequential.

Triton suffered a significant blow to its reputation, but it could still be salvaged. Winnie provided evidence related to Ava, but Ava had already prepared her escape route. She placed the blame for the purchase of fake gemstones on the head of the procurement manager, leaving herself with only a charge of inadequate oversight.

The procurement manager turned himself in, and the case was solved. Winnie's face turned icy, when she learned of this. It seemed that Ava had some expert guidance.

Thinking about how she had nearly been beaten to a miscarriage in the detention center, Winnie would never let Ava go.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and L still hadn't come. There wasn't a trace of her assistant.

Winnie's heart was filled with cold anxiety, but fortunately, she had caregivers taking good care of her and providing the best food. She couldn't take any medication due to the pregnancy, so Olivia bought her traditional Chinese medicine.

Winnie hid in the bathroom to apply it. The bruises were still deep, but they weren't as painful.

Restoring the company's reputation was of utmost importance. First and foremost, she needed to apologize to Mrs. Harrington; the four prestigious families were absolutely not to be offended.

After resting for another two days and with the injuries improving slightly, Winnie requested a pass-out from hospital for a few hours, from her doctor telling him there was urgent business requiring her attention, she promised to take all the necessary precautions.

Winnie led a few executives from Triton to personally visit the private hospital of the Harrington family. They waited from morning until evening before the hospital finally opened.

Winnie hurriedly entered the deluxe ward and smiled at the revered Madam of the Harrington family saying, "Mrs. Harrington, I'm truly sorry...

"I am Winnie, the General Manager of Eternity Jewelry Co., Ltd and the designer of the beloved series. The poor internal management of the company led to errors with the diamond materials, causing such great inconvenience at your birthday banquet..." Winnie tried to apologies.

"Who let you in?" Mrs. Harrington slammed her coffee cup onto the floor. "Inconvenience is all you think you caused me? My husband gave me a pigeon egg, but it turned out to be fake. You made me the laughingstock of the high society! A mere large diamond. I thought highly of your designs and purchased it from your company. You are ungrateful!"

Winnie looked apologetic and uneasy, gesturing for the executives behind her to open their precious velvet boxes. "All the mistakes, including Triton's, are to blame, Mrs. Harrington. These are globally limited designs that I created, treasured by the company. If you like them, we can compensate you with everything..." Winnie tried to appease Mrs. Harrington.

Mrs. Harrington glanced at them, her eyes showing amazement, but she grew angrier. "Do you think a few broken diamonds can compensate for the magnificence of the Harrington family name? Are you looking down on me? Security, kick her out!"

Winnie couldn't grasp Mrs. Harrington's temper and panicked for a moment.

At that moment, an elegant and pleasing voice came from outside the door, "Who made Mrs. Harrington upset?"

Mrs. Harrington turned her head, revealing a smile. "Rock, why are you here?"

Winnie looked up and saw a tall and handsome man. He was dressed in a royal blue suit, exuding an elegant nobility.

The man glanced at Winnie, his gaze gentle, then looked at the diamonds behind her and smiled. "You find them appealing with your eyes, yet belittle them with your words. This must be Triton's designer, right? Don't scare the young girl."

Winnie was slightly surprised by the man’s words but noticed the signal he gave her.

Suddenly understanding, Winnie picked up a bracelet and approached the sofa, daring to put it on the elderly lady’s wrist. "Mrs. Harrington, this is an eight-diamond bracelet. It features eight, 8-carat rubies set with original color diamonds, symbolizing good health and longevity. Your fair and noble wrist will look especially beautiful when adorned with it."

"Hey, who let you..." Mrs. Harrington was about to get angry but was captivated by the beauty of the diamonds. It had to be said that the design was exceptionally exquisite and luxurious.

"My mother's hands are truly beautiful." Rock Harrington added.

Mrs. Harrington blushed. "Go away! You're just trying to please me."

Winnie was startled. This man turned out to be Mrs. Harrington's son, and he didn't seem much older than Jason, her grandson.
