Chapter 872 Get Me a Cigarette

Winnie stared blankly at her normal-length skirt that reached her knees.

She was too shocked to speak.

Was he out of his mind?

"Lawrence, if you're sick, go get treated. Don't control me."

Winnie, furious, snapped at him, her earlobes turning red. "All the women in the company dress like this. Why is it a problem when I do? Are you just looking for trouble?"

She felt he was deliberately making things difficult for her.

Lawrence's true nature was revealed. He hadn't even won her back yet and was already making demands?

Lawrence gazed deeply into her innocent yet angry eyes.

Winnie was really clueless, still not understanding what he was upset about.

Damn it, he looked at her shapely hips, his eyes heating up, furrowing his deep brows, restraining his large hand from touching her, and reminded her in a low voice, "Can you be like other women? Your legs are long and slender. A skirt that reaches the knees on other women looks shorter on you. And you let Sidney hug your leg. Do you know how many men were looking at you in the restaurant just now?"

His eyes scanned the surroundings.

Some men's gazes indeed quickly retracted, seemingly intimidated by him.

Winnie belatedly looked around, her cheeks turning red from his words.

Was he complimenting her or criticizing her?

She felt a warmth on her lower back, the scorching heat of Lawrence's large hand pressing against her.

Her waist trembled, fearing his hand would slide under her jacket. She quickly stepped aside, her breath unsteady. "Stop talking nonsense. I'm just dressed normally. What's wrong with a pencil skirt? What does it have to do with you?"

"Are you trying to attract men?" He instantly became unhappy.

His handsome face was clouded with jealousy.

Winnie looked at him, initially a bit scared, but seeing his aggrieved thin lips, she found it amusing and said, "So what if I am? I'll soon be single again."

Lawrence's eyes turned red. "I helped you become single so you could marry another man?"

He was furious, deeply feeling he had harmed himself, his gaze dangerous.

Winnie realized she couldn't tease him. If Lawrence really believed she was looking for another man, who knew what he might do to her with his methods?

She shrank her neck, not backing down but clearly showing weakness in her actions. "Don't be so fierce. The kids are right there."

"You can't treat me like this, Winnie."

Lawrence was genuinely angry, his gaze icy.

Winnie coughed lightly, shrugged, and said, "Rock and I are bound to divorce, with or without your help. It's just a matter of time. Besides, you forced Rock to divorce me out of your own selfishness."

Lawrence wouldn't let her divorce and then get involved with other men. Although there were no other men around her now, he already felt the threat.

Lawrence grabbed her hand tightly and said, "I'll have the court file for divorce tomorrow. It won't be hard for you to get divorced! But if you think about meeting other men after the divorce, forget it."

"Lawrence, what I hate most is your domineering and overbearing attitude." Winnie said angrily, pouting, "Just because you helped me once, does that mean I have to marry you? Do you think no other man would want me?"

"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have married Rock in the first place. Aren't you doing all this now to atone for your sins for the sake of our two sons?""

Seeing her aggrieved expression, Lawrence's arrogance deflated. He had been feeling smug, thinking that meeting her more often recently and helping her a lot would make Winnie grateful to him.

Maybe Winnie kept rejecting reconciliation verbally, but deep down, she might feel the opposite.

But she didn't. Her hurt and grievances wouldn't disappear so quickly.

And she was right. Everything he was doing now was to atone for his sins.

If he hadn't trusted Ishara back then, things wouldn't have gone downhill.

"Alright." He softened his tone, not wanting to upset Winnie anymore. "I'm atoning for my sins. I have to find ways to be good to you and our sons, to make up for my absence these three years."

He added, "I won't force you. But I will drive away all the men around you! That's my own ability, and you can't control it. I don't believe anyone would dare approach you with my name out there."

Winnie pursed her lips, not wanting to talk to him anymore.

After all that, he hadn't changed a bit and wouldn't compromise.

He was domineering and unreasonable.

She shook off his large hand and walked away, sitting down next to their sons.

"Go get some food for Mommy. She loves desserts." Lawrence also walked over and sat down, crossing his long legs elegantly and warmly.

Winnie ignored him, thinking he was just putting on a show in front of the kids.

Oscar looked up at the angry Winnie, thoughtful, "Why should we get the food? You should get it for Mommy. Isn't that what you should do?"

Lawrence just wanted to send the kids away so he could continue coaxing Winnie.

He coughed and turned to Sidney, "Don't you want to be good to Mommy? Go with Oscar."

"Oscar, let's go get some food!" Sidney was happy, whispering to Oscar, "This way, I can sneak some ice cream."

Oscar had no choice but to get up, climb out of his chair, and go get food with Sidney.

At this moment, Lawrence sat up straight, a smirk on his lips as he glanced at Winnie, "Help me get a cigarette from my suit pocket."

Winnie frowned, impatiently reaching into his suit.

She fumbled for a while but didn't find the cigarette box. Instead, she felt a soft velvet box.

Her fingertips explored it, and she glanced at Lawrence's deep eyes, feeling a bit flustered, unwilling to take the item out.

"Did you find the cigarette?" Lawrence leaned closer, his tall body like a warm wall pressing against her.

His breath brushed against Winnie's neck, making her feel ticklish.

She dodged, her hand leaving the box, trying to pull it out. Lawrence's large hand wrapped around her waist, grabbing her hand, and with a smirk, he said, "I think you found the cigarette. Take it out, Winnie."

"No." Winnie resisted, not knowing what he was trying to do.

But she couldn't match his strength. He held her hand and took out the box.

The blue velvet box looked noble. She feared it was a wedding ring and blurted out, "Lawrence, I won't accept it!"

The box opened, revealing a beautiful sapphire necklace.

Seeing her stiff face, Lawrence couldn't help but smile wickedly and said, "Oh? What did you think it was? It's just a sapphire necklace, designed by me. Winnie, did you think I was going to give you..."

Winnie said, "Stop talking!"
