Chapter 683 Investigating Rock
Oscar furrowed his brows, quickly checked, and realized this was the spot for an amniocentesis!
He took a deep breath. "I've always wanted to get the amniotic fluid DNA from Ishara's belly. Unexpectedly, she comes to do it herself. But why is she doing a paternity test?"
While he couldn't figure it out, Oscar didn't just sit around. He noted the time Ishara went in and quickly hit up the dark web, bribing a nurse from the hospital's genetics department.
An hour later, Ishara came out holding a document, flanked by bodyguards.
Oscar got the test results from the nurse on his computer.
He stared in utter shock!
The document stated the mother's name: Winnie.
And the DNA comparison between the amniotic fluid and Winnie's DNA was 99%.
Oscar slumped to the ground. He hugged his computer, his heart pounding like a drum.
His eyes turned bloodshot.
He didn't know if this was an unexpected joy or a bolt from the blue.
The child in Ishara's belly was indeed Winnie's embryo.
It was Winnie and Lawrence's child!
He had guessed correctly. Ishara had gone to Leo to get Winnie's DNA. They must have preserved the sample during Winnie's surgery!
His guess had always been right! At the same time, he felt a heavy weight pressing down on his heart.
'Neither Lawrence nor Winnie knows about this baby. And who is Ishara making this DNA report for? Is it for Mars? They had a long private conversation last night. Are they planning to use this baby for some kind of deal? How can I protect this baby?' Oscar thought as his eyes turned sharp, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
On the other side, Winnie drove to the Blanchet Group's headquarters and immediately went to the morning meeting.
After the meeting, Lysander said that Melanie had taken Sidney to the employee children's center to play.
He pointed to the office and said, "Ms. Anderson, Mr. Jenkins said he wants to discuss a collaboration with you."
Winnie turned and saw Bentley, thinking he had other motives and rolling her eyes internally.
"Mr. Jenkins, is your plan just to keep coming to my company?" Winnie asked.
Bentley turned around, stretching his long legs, and said, "I am just about to ask you, where did Melanie go?"
Winnie asked, incredulous, "You still haven't gotten her Facebook by now?"
"I have, but I don't dare to message her frequently, afraid she'll think I'm harassing her," Bentley explained.
Winnie gave him a look that indicated he was indeed harassing her and said, "She took Sidney to play."
Bentley sighed dramatically, "When will she take her biological daughter to play?"
"That's up to you," Winnie said.
Bentley smiled bitterly, resting his handsome face on one hand, looking at Winnie, "It's frustrating. I'm at this age and still not married, but I can't rush it! You know, only when I get to know her slowly and she lets her guard down, will I have the chance to take her for a check-up to see what's wrong with her, knowing why she doesn't recognize me. Ms. Anderson, have you really not considered helping me gain her trust?"
Winnie snapped the file shut and said, "You're trying to brainwash me again. Do you know that remembering something could bring her terrible distress and possibly hurt her?"
Bentley was also concerned about this. He didn't know what had happened to her during her studies abroad that caused her to lose her memory and whether it was related to Ishara.
He shrugged dejectedly and said, "You're so heartless. You're married and don't care about others?"
'Who says my marriage is happy?' Thinking of Rock, Winnie felt lost.
She didn't have any male friends around her. She used to be able to ask Jeremy or Alan.
Suddenly, Winnie looked at Bentley who could be considered a friend.
Winnie cleared her throat and asked, "Mr. Jenkins, since we're chatting, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, go ahead." Bentley leaned in curiously.
Winnie warned him, "Don't tell anyone. It's a question from my friend. If you saw a video of your wife cheating with another man on your wedding night, how would you react?"
Bentley was stunned, then looked at her oddly, rubbing his nose with a smile, "Ms. Anderson, you're so cute."
'Does he guess it?' Winnie thought awkwardly. 'Of course, everyone knows about me being taken away by Lawrence on my wedding day.'
Winnie blushed and lowered her voice, "Yes, it is me."
Seeing her deathly glare, Bentley quickly said seriously, "I deeply sympathize with your situation. But if it were me, I'd be so angry that I'd want to kill the adulterer."
"And would you hate your wife?" Winnie asked.
"That depends on what the video shows. If she was pitifully forced and resisted the whole time, I'd feel heartbroken and guilty," Bentley said with a strange look, "But if she didn't struggle at all and even enjoyed it, any man would want to kill such a woman. At least, I'd think she's two-faced, or even..."
"What?"
"Promiscuous, having feelings for the adulterer." Bentley awkwardly told the truth, "I definitely wouldn't forgive such a woman and would teach her a lesson."
Winnie felt cold inside and out.
Bentley represented the attitude of most men. Her mind was in chaos, lost in thought.
Bentley leaned in, unusually serious, "You're actually asking about Rock's reaction, right? Is something wrong with him?"
"Rock doesn't blame me," she said.
"Huh? He can tolerate that? A video of kissing, who can stand that? Is there something wrong with him?"
Winnie felt even more confused by his words and snapped, "Stop adding to the confusion."
"Alright, it was you who asked me." Bentley snorted.
After a while, Winnie looked up, staring at Bentley for a moment, and said, "Mr. Jenkins, you must have connections in Trento City. Can you help me investigate Rock, but don't alert anyone."
"Come on! Winnie, you..." Bentley was quite shocked.
"Help me, and I'll consider helping you." Winnie said and frowned. She didn't hope Rock to have any issues either.
Five days later, Ray handled Lawrence's discharge procedures.
When Lawrence came out, he learned that the Rodriguez Estate had been auctioned off for a hundred billion dollars.
Bob had taken Leah, Anday, and Betty away from the Rodriguez Estate and moved into another villa owned by the Rodriguez Group.
Although it couldn't compare to the grandeur of the Rodriguez Estate, the villa community was clean and spacious.
When Lawrence arrived, Bob was resting in the yard with Leah.
Anday let go of the dazed Sean and brought over a chair, "Lawrence, have a seat."
Lawrence looked at Bob, who wasn't in a wheelchair anymore.
But Leah needed a wheelchair now; she was very weak.
"Dad, Grandma, are you both feeling better?" Lawrence's eyes were dark and filled with guilt as he asked.
