Chapter 691 Go See Your Daddy

"Hey, Winnie," Lawrence called out, his voice low and shaky, clutching his phone like it was a lifeline. "Did you see everything?"

Winnie felt a wave of awkwardness hit her like a ton of bricks; she really wanted to say no.

Her pale fingers trembled a bit, and she had to bite the bullet, saying, "Look, as a doctor, I don't have any other thoughts. It's not like I caused it. You don't need to ask me, right?"

Lawrence felt a dull ache in his chest, thinking, 'She's so calm, saying it's not her fault, talking like she doesn't care at all.'

"I'm not blaming you," Lawrence said, forcing a tight smile. "Since you know, I guess I have no place in your life anymore."

Winnie, super surprised, thought, 'Given his past personality, he would've blown up and never let me go. Could it be that his injury messed him up so bad that even his once arrogant personality has mellowed out? I actually want to ask how he ended up like this, wondering if someone at the police station hurt him. But the words are stuck in my throat, afraid he'll misunderstand my concern. Besides, I think it'll be rubbing salt in his wound.'

"Winnie, I just wanted to warn you. Do you know who hurt me?"

"Are you trying to say it was Rock?" Winnie blurted out, her voice turning a bit cold at his tone.

Lawrence froze, the words catching in his throat.

Maybe he had said too many bad things about Rock, and she didn't believe him anymore.

He also guessed that the more he warned her, the more she'd think he was trying to stir up trouble.

But he'd get the evidence sooner or later.

Lawrence mocked himself, "Whether it was him or not, everything will come out. I know you'll doubt what I say. Let's not talk about this. I'll handle my own stuff. I just called to say thanks. Goodbye, Winnie. I won't bother you again."

He hung up after saying that.

Winnie stood there, dazed, listening to the busy tone, a wave of mixed emotions flashing through her heart.

He said 'goodbye' and 'won't bother her again,' which was totally out of character for Lawrence.

And his voice sounded so heartbroken, soft, and cautious, making her feel all sorts of complicated.

She was used to his previous arrogance, his domineering and cold demeanor.

He suddenly became bitter and disheartened, like he didn't care about his body anymore.

Even if she hated him, she didn't want to see him like this.

After all, in the kids' eyes, he was still an unshakable figure.

Winnie crossed her arms, feeling absent-minded in her office. She knew she shouldn't care about him anymore, but she couldn't help it.

She made a call, "Olivia, are you at home? Can you bring Sidney to my office? I need to talk to him."

"What about Oscar?" Olivia asked.

Winnie thought for a moment, 'Oscar doesn't have good feelings towards Lawrence, so it's better not to involve him in this.'

"No need to bring Oscar, just Sidney," Winnie said.

"Alright!"

After hanging up, Winnie grabbed her coat and headed straight to a nearby hospital's urology department.

She quickly did some research and got a doctor's contact info.

Then she went to the pharmacy and personally picked out some appropriate meds.

When she got back to her office, Sidney was already waiting on the sofa.

"Mommy! Need something from me?" Sidney ran over, all excited.

Winnie stuffed the meds into his little backpack and squatted down, trying to find the right words. "Lawrence is hurt, pretty bad. If you're worried, you can go see him."

"How did Daddy get hurt? Where's he hurt? Ray didn't tell me anything!" Sidney asked, all concerned.

"Don't worry, he's still kicking. Just a bit down. I got some meds here. If you wanna take 'em to him, go ahead. I won't stop you," Winnie said.

Sidney looked at the bulging backpack, his usually slow brain finally catching on.

His eyes widened, and he pouted, "Mommy, did you get all this medicine? I haven't forgotten you're a doctor. Actually, are you..."

"I'm not! It's just a doctor's instinct. Besides, he's got his own issues. If you go and give him a piece of your mind, maybe he'll snap out of it. Whether he takes care of himself or not is up to him."

"Okay, Mommy! Thanks for being so nice. I'll go right now! I've been wanting to see Daddy, but I was afraid you'd be upset," Sidney pouted.

"Go ahead," Winnie nodded.

Sidney immediately ran out and said, "Olivia, Mommy said you should take me."

"Where are you going?" Olivia asked as she started the car.

"Ray's villa."

Soon, Olivia dropped Sidney off at Ray's villa. Only after getting out of the car did she realize that Lawrence was also there.

She got back in the car and immediately called Winnie. "Winnie, what's the deal? Why'd you send Sidney to see Lawrence?"

Winnie replied calmly, "Lawrence is seriously hurt. I can't be too heartless, can I? People should be kind."

"Is that really all? Just kindness, not wanting Sidney to miss seeing Lawrence?" Olivia asked.

"Really."

"Aren't you afraid Rock will find out and get jealous?"

Winnie rolled her eyes and said coldly, "I have a clear conscience, and please, shut up."

Olivia, exasperated, said, "Fine, I can't argue with you. It's still early. I'll drive to the factory."

Winnie said, "The police have shut down the factory. Jeremy might not be there anymore."

"I know," Olivia chuckled bitterly, "But Mia keeps insisting on finding him. She relies on him a lot."

"Have Sam and Lynn been bothering you these past few days?" Winnie asked.

"Sam? He's probably living it up with Mars, not really caring about Jeremy. As for Lynn, she stopped looking for him as soon as she heard Jeremy was dead. She's probably looking for her next man."

"Back then, Lynn and Darcy were close, so they're all cut from the same cloth."

Olivia snorted, "But Lynn is still Jeremy's fiancée. Now that Jeremy's whereabouts are unknown, she doesn't have to do any more bad things."

Olivia hung up and drove off. Passing by the city center square, she got out to buy some snacks for Mia.

Mia had a special love for sweets. Though it was unclear who she inherited it from, Olivia herself didn't like sweets.

There was a commercial center in Trento City in the square, with many companies having been established there, including the Harrington Group.

Looking at the Harrington Group building, Olivia felt a bit shocked. She didn't know when the Harrington Group had risen to become the leading enterprise in Trento City.

Then she saw Rock walking out of the Harrington Group lobby. She was about to go over and say hello when a sexy woman walked out beside Rock, linking arms with him intimately.
