Chapter 682 Oscar Discovers the Truth About the Fetus
"Lawrence, did you seriously record us? You jerk!" Winnie's eyes were glued to the video, her face flushed with anger, shaking with humiliation. She yelled, "You scumbag, you've crossed the line. I'll never forgive you for this."
Lawrence knew he had hurt her again.
With a cold smirk, he said, "I don't care anymore. I knew a long time ago that you'd never forgive me. But I don't want you to be fooled. Do you even know what kind of people Rock is dealing with in Trento City? Don't be tricked by his sweet talk. How do you know he's not just pretending, acting all lovey-dovey while having some hidden agenda?"
"That's enough. Rock isn't the kind of person you're making him out to be. Besides, he's doing great in his career. What could he possibly want from me?"
"The Blanchet family! No matter how well the Harrington Group does, he needs the backing of a powerful family. He could also be after your feelings. Once you fall for him, he could do whatever he wants to get back at you and ruin you!"
Lawrence's words sent a chill down Winnie's spine.
But she still insisted before angrily hanging up the phone, "Lawrence, I won't let you mess things up between us."
Standing on the balcony, the night wind made her feel even colder. Winnie hugged herself and went back to the room where Sidney was already sound asleep.
She walked out to the study where Oscar was still typing away on his computer.
Winnie glanced at her phone, unable to calm her mind.
Finally, she found a bathroom, put on her headphones, and watched the video Lawrence had sent.
Within seconds, Winnie's face turned red with unbelievable anger.
In the video, the lights were off, and moonlight shone on the sea outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, spilling into the room.
The room was filled with intense romance.
She and Lawrence were wrapped in a blanket, their blurred bodies showing outlines, entangling like vines, passionately and continuously. Lawrence's perfect upper body was exposed, while she hid in his arms, her hands trembling as they held his neck.
'How can my voice be so soft and even somewhat enjoying it? How can it be! I always thought that night I was heartbroken and filled with despair. But now, the video seems to twist the facts, making it look like Lawrence and I are deeply in love, and I am enjoying it. Did Rock see such a video?' Thinking for a moment, Winnie couldn't help but shiver violently. Feeling embarrassed, she calmed down and thought any man who saw such a video couldn't remain calm.
'But after I came back, Rock didn't mention it or ask me about it. The first thing he said when he saw me was that he loved me and didn't care about my physical purity. Thinking about it now, Rock is so forgiving that it makes me uneasy. If I were Rock, seeing my wife being sweet with another man on our wedding night, I couldn't possibly stay calm. I would be angry, even hateful. Of course, it could also be because he loves me humbly, blindly, and is self-hypnotizing. If Rock is the latter, then I am really lucky. But if it is the former...' Winnie unconsciously wrapped herself tighter in the blanket, feeling inexplicably cold. 'Maybe Lawrence's warning isn't entirely to mess things up?'
The next morning, Winnie and Sidney got up, and Oscar was still curled up in bed, sleeping in.
She rubbed Oscar's head and said gently, "Oscar? What did you do last night? You usually don't sleep in."
"Ugh," Oscar groaned, rubbing his sleepy eyes. He didn't want Winnie to know he hadn't slept at all last night, so he reluctantly got up.
"What were you doing in the study last night?" Winnie asked.
Oscar scratched his head. He'd been tracking Ishara.
Ever since he saw Ishara with that shady dude Mars last night, Oscar felt something was off.
After he got back, he hacked into the auction hall's surveillance and saw Ishara and Mars having a long private chat in a box, plotting something.
Winnie had worked hard to get Ishara out of the company; Oscar didn't want her pulling another scheme.
"You know, helping Grandma..." Oscar lied and went to the study to grab his computer.
"You really like being online," Sidney commented.
Winnie rolled her eyes and said, "Isn't it because you got Oscar involved in the auction?"
"I don't understand computers as well as he does. He got all of Dad's smarts," Sidney grumbled.
Winnie was speechless and took him downstairs.
In the living room, Rock and Elliott were having a lively conversation. Rock was talking about his company's plans while Elliott listened intently.
At that moment, Winnie found herself staring at Rock.
Sunlight streamed in from the window, highlighting his elegant face, making him look handsome and gentle.
But Winnie was momentarily confused until Rock turned and called her. "Winnie, why are you staring at me? It's time for breakfast."
"Probably because you're good-looking," Olivia joked to lighten the mood.
Rock blushed, stood up with a smile, and served breakfast for her and Sidney. He was wearing a sweater and black casual pants, looking very gentlemanly, and even thoughtfully picked out the ingredients Sidney didn't eat.
His attentive and considerate manner made Winnie feel even more confused.
'He seems like a perfect husband. But can someone really act like nothing happened and not care about such a video?' she thought.
After breakfast, Winnie took Oscar and Sidney to the Blanchet family.
On the way, Oscar was munching on breakfast, still glued to his little computer.
Suddenly, at a corner, Oscar closed his computer and said to Winnie, "Mommy, I just remembered, I need to buy a doll for Mia. It's at the mall over here."
"Huh? But Olivia didn't mention it to me," Winnie said, suspicious.
"Mia was too shy to ask Olivia for money. You know how she clings to me!"
Winnie turned and saw there really was a doll store on the left, so she opened the car door and said, "I'll have the bodyguard go with you. Remember to come to my office after you buy it."
"Okay!" Oscar ignored Sidney's suspicious look and ran out of the car.
After Winnie's car left, he immediately pretended to have a stomachache and said, "Actually, I have a bit of a stomachache. I don't want to worry Mommy. Can you go buy me some medicine?"
"Mr. Anderson, you must stay here and not move. I'll be right back." As soon as the bodyguard left, Oscar stuck out his tongue and hailed a cab to leave.
He opened his little computer.
'After staking out all night, Ishara hasn't left the Blanchet family. Early this morning, she went to Leo's house! I have to go back and act now, to figure out why she's seeing Leo.' Oscar thought.
An hour later, Ishara left Leo's house, wearing sunglasses and a hat, and got into a car. The car circled the city several times before stopping at a secluded private hospital.
Oscar watched the red dot moving on the map and sneaked into the hospital.
Ishara went to the genetic testing department!
