Chapter 761 Conspiracy

The police furrowed their brows and looked at Lawrence with difficulty, "Mr. Rodriguez, this woman is indeed the mother of today's deceased, Sierra. She rushed here from Lymington and was the first to report that Sierra contacted Winnie before her death. If it's convenient, we would like Ms. Anderson to cooperate with our investigation to understand the situation of the deceased."

Winnie was shocked, even though Sierra had nothing to do with her.

But Sierra, who had called her in the afternoon, suddenly died, leaving a burden on her heart.

She voluntarily confessed, "Sierra called me, saying she had something to discuss with me. But before she came, her mother rushed in saying she was dead. This woman lost her daughter and was very emotional. I won't press charges against her."

The police nodded, "We will take her back to the station for education. Ms. Anderson, regarding Sierra's death, we may summon you at any time, please be aware."

"I will cooperate."

Winnie said absentmindedly, her brows tightly furrowed.

After the police took Lauren away, she thought for a moment and immediately called Rock, "Rock, I heard Sierra died. Did you know about this?"

"I know." Rock's calm yet regretful voice came through, "I just got the news. I'm at the funeral home now. Sierra worked at the Harrington Group, and my mother strongly recommended her back then. I have a responsibility as her superior, The Davis Family and the Harrington Family have a good relationship, so I need to handle her funeral. I didn't expect her to have an accident at such a young age."

Winnie furrowed her brows slightly, "I want to come to the funeral home. Did the Davis Family report to the police, thinking her death is related to me?"

"What happened?" On the other end, Rock's brows furrowed darkly.

After Sierra's car accident, he immediately came to handle the matter, not expecting someone from the Davis Family to go to Winnie. Damn it.

"I'll talk when I get there."

Winnie hung up.

She pinched her brows and walked straight out of the Blanchet Group company to her car.

Suddenly, her slender wrist was grabbed by Lawrence, who had followed her.

"Winnie, you seem distracted. You can't drive like this. Where are you going? I'll take you." Lawrence's deep brows were tinged with worry.

He had just arrived and heard a bit; that Sierra seemed to be Rock's secretary.

"Forget it, I can drive myself."

Winnie wanted to refuse him, seeing his clean and neat white shirt and trousers, clearly having rushed over from the Rodriguez Group.

She didn't know who had notified him.

She looked at his delicate features, her eyes flickering slightly, "Lawrence, thank you for protecting me earlier."

"I wish I could protect you all the time." He said seriously in a low voice.

Winnie frowned, "But your presence here is inconvenient. You should go."

"Where are you going?" He asked again, clearly with a hint of coldness.

Winnie checked the route to the funeral home; it was quite far.

Her mind was indeed very chaotic, not suitable for driving.

In the end, she had to hand him the car keys.

Lawrence led her to the passenger seat, helped her sit down, fastened her seatbelt, and then went to drive.

His unhurried, gentlemanly, and efficient actions gradually calmed Winnie down.

On the way, she thought about the cause of Sierra's death and the phone call Sierra had made to her.

An hour later, they arrived at the funeral home.

Winnie unfastened her seatbelt and glanced at the handsome silhouette of Lawrence beside her, "Rock is in the funeral home."

"Okay, I won't show up." Lawrence sensibly handed her the car keys but reminded her in a low voice, "If Sierra's family dares to bully you, call me immediately."

Winnie wouldn't call him.

But she had no time to explain and nodded casually.

After entering the funeral home hall, she saw unfamiliar members of the Davis Family. They all seemed to recognize her, casting hateful glances her way.

Sierra's father, Nicholas Davis, rushed over, raising his hand, "You must be Winnie. If Sierra hadn't gone to see you, she might not have died."

"Nicholas!" Rock immediately appeared, blocking that slap and shielding Winnie, sternly saying, "Why are you blaming Winnie? Didn't the police just clarify everything? The car was a new electric model, and the brake system malfunctioned, causing Sierra's crash and death. We should hold the car manufacturer accountable."

"Brake system malfunction?" Winnie was puzzled.

Rock nodded, "The police investigated the surveillance; the car suddenly lost control midway and crashed into the steel bars at a construction site. It was a complete accident. Nicholas, even if Sierra hadn't gone to see Winnie, as long as she drove that faulty car, today would have... My condolences."

Nicholas was full of grief, covering his eyes and crying out loud, "But why would Sierra go to see Winnie? If it weren't for Winnie's strong jealousy, not tolerating a female secretary around you..."

Rock's eyes darkened, and he sighed, looking at Winnie, "This was my oversight. Last night, I had a fight with Winnie, and this morning, Sierra saw I was unhappy when she came to resign, so she might have wanted to talk to Winnie out of goodwill. After all, during work, Sierra and I were good partners, and we were friends outside of work too. Nicholas, if you must blame someone, blame me. It's not Winnie's fault."

The Davises clenched their fists secretly. The current Rock was not the same as before, and they knew they couldn't make a scene.

Nicholas glared at Winnie fiercely but ultimately had to accept it.

Winnie was slightly stunned by Rock's words.

Was Sierra calling to mediate between her and Rock? Indeed, they had a disagreement last night.

But Sierra didn't seem like such a kind person to her.

Moreover, the tone of Sierra's call didn't sound like she was mediating; it was urgent and strange.

Winnie was puzzled.

Sierra's death was quickly classified as an accident caused by a car system malfunction and explosion.

Her charred body was turned into ashes and taken away by the Davis Family that night.

The Davis Family didn't sue Winnie, seemingly suppressed by Rock.

But this matter lingered in Winnie's mind.

The next day, she suddenly received a call from an unknown number on her phone.

"Ms. Anderson, I'm Sierra's brother, Ulysses Davis."

"Mr. Davis?" Winnie was puzzled.

"I want to meet with you, but don't alert anyone, especially Rock." Ulysses said in a low voice.

Winnie was stunned, not to tell Rock?

She instinctively felt that what Ulysses wanted to say might be related to Rock.

But what he wanted to talk about could only be Sierra's death. Could there be a connection between the two?

Lost in thought, Winnie quickly arrived at the agreed coffee shop.

"Mr. Davis, what do you want?"

Ulysses sat in a corner, wearing sunglasses and a hat. He directly took out his phone and showed a picture, "Look at this screenshot."

Winnie took it and opened it. It was an unsent message: [Rock is...]

And the recipient of this message was Winnie!

She was extremely surprised, "What does this mean?"
