Chapter 126 In everyone's eyes, she is a mistress
With the door tightly closed, Ray's tall figure pressed down on the bed, covering her. He held Laura's face with a mixture of disgust and an irresistible desire to touch her. He began to undress her and, unable to resist, continued further when he saw her smooth skin.
He thought to himself that this desire must have originated from his time at Darcy's apartment.
However, he couldn't touch Darcy, so he redirected his desires towards this woman.
He was getting ready to bite her. Laura coldly pushed him away and sarcastically remarked,
"Weren't you causing trouble for me because of Darcy? Hypocritical man, you despise me, yet you're addicted to sleeping with me? The last time we were together, you found it unforgettable, didn't you?"
Ray seemed as if she had exposed his true face. A trace of embarrassment flashed through his eyes, and he quickly seized her, coldly sneering, "Don't you know you're just a substitute? Even in this situation, she is who I think of."
"Get lost!" Laura couldn't tolerate it any longer. Her heart felt as if it were being stabbed with a sharp needle, causing a lingering ache.
"If she's so good, go find her. Didn't you say you wanted her?" Laura said sarcastically.
"If it weren't for her love for L, do you think I would have married you?" Ray responded indifferently.
So, Darcy was the one who gave her this marriage after all?
Laura let out a bitter smile deep in her heart. Her face grew colder, and she suddenly laughed, "It's a good thing L isn't as blind as you. Only you treasure this woman. She's so malicious, what do you really know!"
Ray grabbed her chin tightly, "Do you even deserve to speak ill of her? Back then, she risked her life to save me, while you didn't even bother to call for help."
Laura looked into his cold eyes and suddenly lost the desire to accuse him. Ray hated her for this reason more than any other.
Back then she had saved him and nearly froze to death, she had gone to change her clothes. But when she came back, she saw Darcy giving Ray artificial respiration and slanderously accusing her, saying that she didn't call for help.
That's when Ray's heart grew cold. She didn't know how malicious Darcy could be, targeting her like this. She had tried to explain countless times that she was the one who saved him.
But the more she explained, the more misunderstood she became. Ray deemed her a selfish woman who refused to help others in dire circumstances.
By now, she had given up and no longer bothered to explain.
She couldn't be bothered with a man's misconceptions and indifference.
Laura forcefully pushed him away, refusing to let him torment her. Suddenly, from downstairs, a cold voice echoed, "Ray, come out!"
Ray's body froze, and even he couldn't help but feel a hint of fear from that voice.
Just outside the door, Benjamin rushed downstairs, cursing, "Fuck."
"Why did he come to the house?" Laura asked angrily.
The man furrowed his brows and had to stand up to straighten his shirt. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Laura kicked him away and distanced herself.
Ray's face turned pale as he went downstairs. In the yard outside the door, there stood L with a more chilling presence, then usual. He was a domineering and formidable man who made people fear him with just a glance.
Ray exuded a bit of a gangster vibe but still fell short in terms of momentum. L walked over with an icy demeanor and kicked Ray's leg with force, coldly questioning, "Who told you to talk nonsense to Winnie?"
Ray stumbled but quickly regained his balance. He retaliated by fiercely punching L, shouting, "You're hitting your own buddy for a woman?"
"Whoever dares to meddle in my affairs is asking for trouble." L showed no mercy, drawing a clear line in the sand.
Benjamin and Jeremy, who were nearby felt a bit uneasy as L was truly furious. Ray had often targeted L because of Darcy, but L didn't care since he didn't love Darcy.
This time, Ray crossed the line involving Winnie, and L took action in order to make clear that Winnie was off limits.
Ray looked surprised and angry, saying, "Darcy is your fiancée. Have you fallen for Winnie, that woman with ulterior motives?"
"A few hundred years ago, Darcy and I had nothing to do with each other." L's voice turned icy, at the thought that now even Winnie didn't believe him.
L swung his fist at Ray, landing this shot hard he felt his anger start to subside. He then walked to the roadside to smoke, warning, "Ray, if you dare say anything to Winnie again, don't blame me for cutting ties."
Laura watched from the terrace upstairs, shocked by L's unparalleled face and revelation. Olivia had told her that Winnie married a mysterious man of unknown identity, presumably a big shot.
Laura had thought it was just one of Darcy's admirers. But now, it seemed that Winnie not only married the famous L but also captured his heart.
When thinking of Darcy, Laura felt an inexplicable satisfaction. The scene downstairs dispersed somehow, with Ray leaving in anger.
Benjamin and Jeremy, who had always felt closer to L naturally sided with him, they were smoking together on the roadside. Benjamin looked at L’s expression and said, "Winnie asked me at the banquet, and I was shocked. Why did you lie, causing me to lie for you? I knew Winnie would be very angry."
"What? She asked you too?" L's eyes turned cold.
Benjamin analyzed the situation making L see the reality of it all, "Winnie must have suspected it long ago. After all, you have such an outstanding 'sister' by your side. Which woman wouldn't be suspicious?"
"Why didn't you remind me then?" L questioned angrily.
"... Please, who dares to expose you to your wife?" Benjamin rolled his eyes.
Benjamin wondered, "Why didn't you tell Winnie the truth earlier?"
"My relationship with Darcy is complicated, and it's not easy to explain that Winnie doesn't even know I'm Lawrence R. Can you understand? Besides, I don't want to make things more complicated," L sighed in annoyance.
Ah, the consequences of male chauvinism. Now you have more troubles, don't you?
Benjamin silently rolled his eyes. "Why didn't you tell Winnie the truth tonight?"
"Is she pacified?" L’s eyes instantly turned cold, at Benjamin’s question.
Jeremy took off his glasses and sneered, "Do you think Mr. L is the type to pacify a woman on his own?"
…
Benjamin shook his head knowingly.
L's eyes shot a chilling glare. "It was her who refused to listen to my explanation and insisting she became a mistress."
Benjamin weakly replied, "Winnie's thinking isn't entirely wrong. You privately broke off the engagement with Darcy without announcing it, yet Darcy stayed in the company to balance the power of the Rodriguez family. In everyone's eyes, Winnie is just a mistress, right? You definitely pressured Winnie forcefully without explaining properly."
...L coldly glanced at them. "So, what should I do?"
Jeremy squatted down and took out his phone.
L glanced at him and saw what he was searching for on the internet, ‘I did something foolish, how to pacify a girlfriend?’
The man's extraordinarily handsome face turned dark, at the sight of this.
Benjamin chimed in, "You made a mistake, you deceived your wife. Even someone as deep and noble as you can't avoid making mistakes. It's okay, let's think of a way."
Jeremy read some suggestions online, "Buy her flowers and kneel on the ground."
Benjamin trembled at the suggestions and didn't dare to look at the man. Jeremy continued, "Kneel at her doorstep."
Jeremy added, "Chemical castration directly."
Unable to bear it anymore, Benjamin said, "These are all suggestions from female netizens! Search for some tips from male netizens."
Jeremy searched, and began reading the most recommended suggestions. "Buy her things."
"Take her straight to a hotel." This made Benjamin blush slightly.
"Buy 9,999 roses."
L, with a cold and proud face, thought deeply, "The second one is alright. The first and third are both tacky."
Benjamin and Jeremy: ... were both instantly speechless.
Jeremy stood up, patted Mr. L's shoulder, and said in a solemn tone, "I'll search for love manuals all night and give you an answer tomorrow."
"She might break up with me tomorrow, but tonight, she's mine!" The man declared emphatically.
Jeremy: Fuck...
After a sleepless night, Winnie was about to leave Olivia's apartment for work the next morning.
As soon as she opened the door, she was shocked by the countless flowers piled up at the entrance!
