Chapter 773 Call Me Uncle

"Ms. Harper." The maid was finally pulled out of the water, and upon seeing Angelina's displeased look, she panicked.

She immediately turned her head and pointed at Winnie, complaining, "I don't know how I offended Mrs. Harrington just now. She suddenly threw me into the pool and deliberately made me fall on Mr. Hill. Today is your party, Mrs. Harrington must be bored and doesn't want your party to go smoothly, right?" The maid hinted.

Everyone immediately looked at Winnie.

Angelina raised her eyebrows angrily and confronted Winnie, "Mrs. Harrington, what do you mean by this?"

Standing next to her, Angela chimed in sarcastically, "Angelina, what could Mrs. Harrington mean? I think she's jealous of you getting close to Mr. Rodriguez and just wants to mess up your party!"

"So Mrs. Harrington is bullying my maid? That's too much." Angelina frowned, trying to hold back her anger.

The guests, hearing Angela's words, immediately started whispering among themselves.

"So it turns out she's jealous of Ms. Harper and Lawrence dating."

"But hasn't she already married Rock?"

"You're underestimating Ms. Anderson. Many women wish their ex-husbands would still revolve around them. Besides, she might not want Lawrence to get close to the Harper family."

"Winnie looks pretty, but who knew she could be so malicious."

Those harsh words reached Lawrence's ears, and his eyes darkened with a cold aura spreading. Just as he was about to get angry, he suddenly heard Winnie chuckle lazily.

Lawrence raised an eyebrow, looking at Winnie.

Winnie crossed her arms and walked up to the maid, "Ms. Harper, don't be so quick to judge."

She asked the maid, "Are you sure I pushed you into the water?"

"If it wasn't you, then who? It was just the two of us."

Winnie sneered, "You clearly said Melanie was looking for me, so I followed you here. When we got to the edge of the pool, you suddenly turned and bumped into me, trying to push me into the water onto Mr. Hill. But you ended up falling into the water yourself."

"You're lying!" The maid panicked, seeing Winnie explain so clearly. She had lied in a hurry earlier, "I don't know any Melanie, and I didn't look for you. You brought me here to frame Ms. Harper and ruin her party."

Winnie's eyes turned cold, and she chuckled, "Did you draft your lie? Last-minute lies are easy to spot. For example, you forgot there are cameras all around the pool! Why don't we check the footage to see if you brought me here or if I pushed you?"

The maid's mind went blank, and she bit her lip, panicking and looking at Angelina.

Angelina glared at the maid. She was useless, but since Winnie mentioned checking the cameras, she had to quickly change her tune, "Mrs. Harrington, how would I know something like this would happen today? This is a private party, and I didn't have the hotel turn on the cameras."

"How convenient. Cameras always seem to be off or missing crucial footage at key moments."

Winnie smirked coldly, then spread her hands, looking aggrieved, "Well, if that's the case, there's nothing we can do. Ms. Harper, whatever you say goes. After all, you're in charge here, and I'm just a guest. I wouldn't dare say anything."

She continued, "If you want me to apologize, I'll apologize. It's your party, your maid. Only if I apologize will you be satisfied, right?"

The guests weren't fools. Hearing Winnie's words, they understood the situation.

In short, Angelina was using her status to deliberately instruct the maid to target Winnie and frame her.

Angelina was furious, gritting her teeth, but then she smiled brightly and innocently, "Mrs. Harrington, don't misunderstand. This is a private party, and I didn't want everyone to feel restrained, so I didn't turn on the cameras."

"The maid fell into the water but wasn't in any danger, so let's just forget about it. Everyone made mistakes, and no one did it on purpose. Mr. Hill, I'm sorry for disturbing your swim."

Xavier, who had been splashed, naturally didn't want to offend Angelina, quickly said, "Yeah, Mrs. Harrington, let's just forget it. It was all a misunderstanding, and no one got hurt."

Angela, standing next to Angelina, sneered, "Angelina, it's not wrong to be concerned about your maid. The champagne is about to be served. If Mrs. Harrington is scared, you can offer her a few more drinks to calm her down."

"Yes, Mr. Rodriguez, we're about to start the champagne ceremony." Angelina looked at Lawrence with affectionate eyes.

"Wait." Lawrence, who had been silently observing, suddenly spoke coldly, stopping the dispersing crowd.

Lawrence glanced coldly at Angelina and said concisely, "Everyone, listen up. No matter what you were discussing just now, I need to clarify something. I am not dating Ms. Harper, nor do I like her. I have someone I love, and everyone knows it."

After he finished speaking, his deep eyes focused intently on Winnie, the emotions in his eyes clear.

Winnie, suddenly named and stared at by him, blushed, her scalp tingling.

She was speechless.

On the other hand, Angelina's face turned pale with embarrassment. She had been so proactive in inviting him to open the champagne, and everyone at the party thought she and Lawrence were dating.

But Lawrence publicly humiliated her.

Angelina glanced at Winnie, blaming her! Her eyes burned with intense hatred.

Winnie felt Angelina's gaze and glared at Lawrence. She wanted to kick Lawrence into the pool. He was always making enemies for her.

The awkward atmosphere by the pool continued until the maid brought over the champagne tower.

Angelina had originally fantasized about holding hands with Lawrence to open the first bottle of champagne.

But after he humiliated her, she had to cancel that plan.

However, she didn't intend to let it go. After the champagne was opened, Angelina coldly smiled and handed a glass to Winnie, her face innocent, "Mrs. Harrington, my maid was rude to you just now. You're experienced and knowledgeable, please don't mind."

She was implying that Winnie was old, wasn't she?

Compared to Angelina in her twenties, Winnie did seem more mature.

But her stunning features overshadowed that.

Everyone could hear the sarcasm in Angelina's words.

Winnie smiled, not caring, and retorted, "Thank you, Ms. Harper. You and your good friend Angela are very polite young ladies. Just now, she called me an old woman. So she must have learned it from you, Ms. Harper."

Angela, suddenly named by Winnie, was stunned, her eyes flashing with anger.

Lawrence, hearing this, smirked and looked at Winnie with deep affection, "Winnie, you're my ex-wife. If they dare call you old, doesn't that make me an old man too? Ms. Harper should call me uncle!"

Winnie raised an eyebrow, looking at him with a hint of approval. That was a good comeback.
