Chapter 154 Acting on Christmas Eve

Rock's gaze turned cold. Lawrence R held immense power, but he didn't show any weakness.

"If that day comes, let's see who the victor will be." And then he left. Lawrence R stood in the elevator, his eagle-like gaze fixed on the back of Rock's head.

Luke could feel that the CEO's mood was even worse now.

As the elevator doors closed, Darcy's figure appeared from the side. She glanced at Mr. L going down in the elevator, then looked at Rock, lost in thought.

Rock likes Winnie so much? Darcy smirked and immediately called her assistant.

"I asked you to check on Winnie's whereabouts last night. How did it go?"

Winnie arrived at the police station this morning all wet. Mr. L was angry, so he didn't pay much attention.

Her assistant replied, "Miss Ordelia, I found out that Rock helped Winnie sneak into the hospital and revive Mr. Lancelot. Later, Rock was drugged by the enemy in the middle of the night, and Winnie went to the hotel. They were trapped there until morning."

What? Darcy's face changed. Winnie saved Mr. Lancelot?

She knew this tender offer must be related to Winnie's uncle, but she didn't expect Winnie to be helping Mr. L as well.

"You ruined the information about Winnie's time at the hospital." If Mr. L investigates later, he must not discover that Winnie helped him.

As for... Darcy's smile curled up.
"Go and see if there are any traces of photos or videos of what Rock and Winnie did at the hotel."

If Mr. L finds out, Winnie will undoubtedly be doomed.

However, Darcy is not in a hurry now. With Winnie having such an uncle, she is already on a 'dead' end.
Darcy will stay by Mr. L's side and wait for the right moment.

In the evening, Winnie returned to Lymington alone from Perugia City. She had nowhere else to go, so she could only go back to Olivia's apartment.

As soon as she entered, she collapsed on the floor, her stomach in sharp pain.

Winnie was afraid that the recurring fever would hurt the baby, so she took a bath but ended up falling asleep.

When Olivia came back at night, she saw Winnie submerged in the cold water, unconscious, holding her phone, which was still on the news page of the Kingdom Estates.

Losing the bid for the Kingdom Estates was a big news in the business world, and Olivia, being well-informed, had already heard about it.

She sighed and quickly helped Winnie up, softly waking her, "Winnie? Hurry up and get dressed so you won't catch a cold again."

Winnie opened her blurry eyes, looking somewhat vacant, and her voice was hoarse. "What time is it?"

"It's almost midnight. Sigh... I already know about the tender offer you worked on. Sometimes, mistakes in data like this can't be avoided. Don't blame yourself too much."

Winnie's eyes filled with a bitter disappointment. Olivia didn't understand the whole story, how could she not blame herself?

"L was in real danger this time. Fortunately, Mr. Lancelot is fine. He won't make things difficult for you, right?"

"Olivia saw her return to her own apartment, and she was worried about her relationship with L. Has it gotten worse?

Winnie stayed silent, unsure of how to talk to her.

Olivia helped her up and gently touched her belly. 'The baby is growing little by little. You need to think about the child that is about to be born.'
Winnie stiffened because of her uncle. There was no turning back for them.

Olivia reminded her, 'You've been living in a daze recently, not realizing that tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I have to go back to the Smith Mansion tonight. You...'

Winnie looked vacant and quickly forced a smile. 'You should hurry back and spend time with your parents. I'll be fine here.'

Hesitant, Olivia asked, 'Aren't you going back to L's villa? Tomorrow is your first Christmas together.'

Winnie's nose tingled sharply, and she bit her lip, holding back tears. Her fingers trembled as she gripped her clothes, staring at the ground. 'There's no chance...Olivia.'

Olivia noticed her unusually pale face and her heart skipped a beat. She didn't dare say anything more.
Has L not called her? Olivia didn't dare ask, fearing it would make her cry.

After spending some time with Winnie, she had to leave to attend tomorrow's morning prayers.

Winnie stayed in the bedroom, sitting alone with her knees bent until dawn.

It was Christmas Eve, and the sky was snowing, pure white, but exceptionally chilling.

Her decision not to go back to the villa was a statement. He must understand...

Ding-ling-ling, unexpectedly, her phone rang. Winnie stared blankly and saw that it was a call from the villa!

Her heart trembled; she knew it must be Madam Rodriguez calling.

Fingers trembling slightly, she quickly answered, 'Mom...'

On the other end, Madam Rodriguez's voice carried a hint of doubt and sadness. 'Winnie, on such an important day, why haven't you come back?'

Winnie bit her lip and couldn't speak.

Madam Rodriguez smiled, full of concern.

'I remember that you and L were doing well when he was in the hospital. Have you been fighting again these days? Winnie, come back soon. It's our family's first Christmas Eve. How can we be without you and the unborn baby?'

Winnie's tears fell on her knee, silently.

Madam Rodriguez said, 'There are no misunderstandings that can't be resolved. Come back quickly, let's talk things through face to face. I'll help you!'

In Winnie's heart, Madam Rodriguez had long been regarded as a second mother.

Mixed with warmth and pain in her heart, she couldn't believe that L, whom she saw as a loving man, had hurt her mother all those years ago.

'This is also what he meant. Even though he doesn't say it, we're waiting for you.' Madam Rodriguez patiently reassured her.

Is this what he meant? Did he ask her to come home?

Winnie's heart was pounding, growing increasingly uneasy.

Perhaps today would bring an end, and he was asking her to go back to break up?

Winnie thought desolately, it should be like this. She would rather stand against him with dignity.

Regardless, because of Madam Rodriguez's condition, she had to go back and act to appease her.
Maybe he meant the same thing!

Winnie took a deep breath, applied light makeup to cover her pale face, changed into different clothes, and left the house to drive.

Standing in front of the gate of the villa, the soft snow covered the fence, and the exhaled cold air formed wisps of white mist.

Winnie stood there blankly, her facial recognition had already opened the gate automatically.

She walked into the familiar living room, where the air seemed to be filled with a man's scent.

Madam Rodriguez sat on the sofa, measuring her blood pressure. Winnie's gaze wandered, as if she didn't see him?

"Winnie!" The old lady called her gently, naturally smiling at her, and pointed to the kitchen. "It's good that you're back. We're preparing Christmas Eve dinner. There aren't many people at home, so each of us will make a dish."

The atmosphere was quiet and harmonious, and Madam Rodriguez seemed to be in a good mood.

Winnie also tried to put on a fake smile. She rolled up her sleeves, washed her hands, and followed her heart into the kitchen. "What does Mom want to eat? Shall I make it?"

"I don't have much of an appetite," Madam Rodriguez, with her weak appearance due to illness, smiled and said, "Just make something that L likes."

Winnie was slightly stunned. Something that he likes? Truffle chicken soup, vegetable salad, none of them spicy, he liked light flavors.

She didn't expect to remember all these small details...

Her chest suddenly felt heavy again. She exhaled slowly and said softly, "Taylor, let's make truffle chicken soup first."

"Okay, Mr. L loves it," Taylor laughed and went to cut the chicken.

Winnie picked the truffles and wondered whether to cook them separately or put them directly into the pot.

A familiar man's scent approached from behind.

Then her slender waist silently pressed against warmth, and he said in a deep voice above her head, "You're not great at cooking."
