Chapter 30 Daniel asks her out

He is clearly a skilled expert, wealthy, and surrounded by many women. Winnie felt as if she had been doused with cold water, becoming clear-headed.

She recounted the events that took place in the chaos last night. She wondered if perhaps he had saved her twice to make her believe that he was a good person.

Men had given her enough despair. After experiencing despair, one should never give anyone else the opportunity to make oneself despair again. Despair had became a bitter teacher, instructing Winnie to safeguard her spirit from echoing wounds hence, her heart should remain tightly sealed. Winnie lowered her eyes and calmed herself down.

Yes, their relationship is just a transaction, she convinced herself. Her phone chimed suddenly.

It was Mr. L.

"I don't want to see any more danger involving the Anderson family like last night. Don't go out alone from now on. Call me if anything happens, my pregnant kitten."

His voice, a harsh grating against her resolve, laced with the poisonous promise of control. But Winnie was already clear-headed, realizing that he only cared about her pregnancy. She chose silence, refusing to play into his game.

Winnie searched for information at home, preparing for the upcoming provincial design competition.

Madam Rodriguez did everything she could to nourish her. Winnie liked this family. She had lost her loved ones at an early age and hadn't felt this kind of pure warmth in a long time.

"Winnie, why does your face look a little pale?"

Winnie's eyes flickered, and she shook her head with a smile. "I am fine."

At that moment, her phone rang. Winnie's gaze turned cold when she saw the caller ID, and she quietly got up and walked away.

She didn't answer, but Daniel persisted. Winnie answered with a cold face. Daniel's hoarse voice sounded somewhat strangely gentle.

"Winnie, I've been thinking a lot these past few days. I still can't let you go. Let's meet."

"Hmph." Winnie replied coldly, "Daniel, if you say something like that again, I'll forward it to Ava. As for meeting, in this lifetime, I will only see you in prison or at the cemetery. When you end up in either of those places, you'll naturally see me."

"Winnie!"

Winnie coldly hung up. It seemed like Daniel knew she would hang up, and he immediately sent a text message. Winnie immediately wanted to delete it, but her gaze froze when she skimmed over it.

"I know you won't willingly come out, so I have leverage, Winnie. I have a copy of your grandfather's contact book before he died. These past few years, haven't you always wanted to investigate the accident from back then? Are you sure you don't want it?"

Daniel knew her too well, holding her by the most vulnerable spot. According to Matthew, her mother and grandfather died in a major accident back then.

She was too young at the time and was sent abroad to study in middle school. When she returned, she was told that her mother and grandfather were gone and that they had suddenly passed away.

After their deaths, all the information about her mother and grandfather's lives also disappeared as if a powerful force had wiped away everything.

Winnie had never learned anything about the accident.

Inside the crystal pub's private room, Daniel stood tall in front of Winnie. His eyes gazing at her intently. "Please have a seat, Winnie," he said softly.

Winnie stood cautiously by the door, sensing the heavy scent of alcohol emanating from him and coldly said, "What is it? Speak quickly."

Daniel looked at her slender figure hidden beneath ordinary clothes. She had always been stunningly beautiful with a stunning face and delicate features. She used to be admired by countless gentlemen in Lymington.

She possessed a noble temperament and graceful figure yet was not vulgar. Occasionally, she would reveal an expression that was both naive and animated, like a little girl.

No man could resist such a beauty.

"Is the child you're carrying that hoodlum's?" he asked. Perhaps it was the ambiguous lighting, but Daniel's gaze was deep and fervent.

Winnie leaned against the door. "That is none of your concern, Mr. Daniel."

"Why can't I be concerned? You and your body were supposed to be mine." Daniel approached forcefully.

Winnie clenched her fists, feeling a chill deep in her heart, and sneered.

"Has your pride taken such a deep blow that you're unwilling to accept it? Did you not think for a second about who will bear the brunt of this family mess? Did you realize that I would be the discarded one from the Anderson family?

"You played your game, used me as your pawn to launch your company then discarded me like yesterday's news when Ava's allure proved more enticing. The Anderson family could give you inheritance rights despite being from the Davis family and I don't stand a chance to compete, right?"

Her penetrating words stripped Daniel of his dignity, tearing away his disguise. He grabbed Winnie's shoulders. "It's not like that. I have you in my heart!"

"Can you escape Ava's seduction?" Winnie mocked mercilessly.

"What right do you have to say that? You're just a slut. You've slept with so many men. I can do it too!"

His madness shocked Winnie. For a long time, she couldn't regain her composure, staring at him. Even if his appearance changed completely, she never expected him to become like this.

Winnie's heart trembled with coldness, and her eyes became icy. "What do you want, Daniel?"

"Don't be with that hoodlum. Be with me instead. I don't want to see you using your body as a bargaining chip. You were mine to begin with." His intoxicated gaze locked onto her.

Winnie laughed coldly. "So you're unwilling to have me as your clandestine lover? Daniel, you're shameless, and now you've gone insane!"

At that moment, her phone vibrated. She discreetly glanced at it, and her expression recovered momentarily. She coldly declared, "Forget it. I don't need the contact book. I won't accompany you."

She proceeded to open the door so hard it made a loud bang. Daniel suddenly rushed forward and closed the door.

Winnie was astonished. Her face turned cold. "I've already rejected you, Daniel."

"Heh." Daniel touched her shoulder and lowered his head to smell her hair.

"Do you think I don't know how clever you are? These tactics of yours may work against Ava, but I understand you well, Winnie. I know you're just stalling for time. My people have already detained the thief you sent to my house."

Winnie suddenly stopped and turned around. She had Olivia find a skilled thief to steal things from the apartment while Daniel was out meeting her.

But she didn't expect Daniel to be too aware of her tactics, and Daniel's people had actually caught the thief.

"I have the contact book back now, and I am not considering trading with you anymore. Anyway, you can't leave tonight."

He abruptly lifted her up, brought her over to the couch and restrained her.

"What are you going to do?" Winnie's face immediately changed, but she dared not struggle too much, afraid of hurting her stomach.

He forcefully pushed her to the ground. Daniel's eyes glowed with intense desire as he bent down to rip apart her clothing.

"You forced me to do this, and today I will have you."

"You're crazy!" Winnie subtly reached for her sewing kit, but her hand was suddenly caught by him.

Daniel sneered. "I know you're cunning, so don't even think about playing tricks."

"Let me go, Daniel!"

With his eyes closed, he forcefully kissed her.

"No!" Winnie tightly grabbed onto her clothes, feeling scared.

At this moment, the door suddenly burst opened with a bang.
