Chapter 710 Standing Up to Mars for Her
"Mr. Anderson, chill out! We're all friends here in Trento City," Mars barged in.
'Why do all the people I don't wanna see keep popping up?' Winnie thought.
She frowned, "Friends? Melanie, you know this guy?"
"I don't know him at all!" Melanie shot Mars a wary look, remembering how shady he was at the auction that night.
Compared to Lawrence's bad behavior, Melanie despised Mars's sneaky nature even more.
Mars, acting like he didn't hear Melanie, eagerly walked to the bedside, squinting as he placed the flowers down, and smiled, "Ms. Stewart, it's okay. If you don't recognize me, I don't bite. Just mention Mars from the Peterson Group to your folks when you get home; they definitely know me. I see you’re tight with Ms. Anderson and Mr. Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins is also my friend. So that makes us friends I suppose?"
Thinking for a moment, Winnie immediately guessed that Mars was here for Bentley.
That night at the auction, Bentley showed that he cared about Melanie.
'Did Mars find out something? Is he trying to get to Bentley by using Melanie as a new angle?' Winnie thought and was speechless. 'Mars is so shameless he changes his tune all the time. He even threatened Bentley that night. When he can't get his way with force, he tries to be nice.'
Mars continued with a deceitful look, "Ms. Stewart, I didn't take a good look at you before, but now that I do, you're really a beauty. No wonder Bentley..."
"Mars, enough already." Winnie immediately cut him off.
Lawrence, who hadn't left yet, suddenly chuckled. His cold, deep voice was particularly grating.
Mars glared at him angrily and asked arrogantly, "Lawrence, what are you doing here? After your disgrace, you've been going around sucking up to everyone. Look at your current status. What right do you have to be here? Get lost."
"They didn't kick me out, so why are you so worked up? As far as I know, you've tried both coercion and bribery with Mr. Jenkins, and he ignored you. You must have seen me meet Mr. Jenkins at noon today, so you rushed here to be a lapdog? Those who crawl out of the gutter always have despicable means." Lawrence didn't even lift his eyes, and his sharp eyebrows raised. After all, his dignity couldn't fall with the Rodriguez Family. In contrast, his uprightness made Mars look bad.
Melanie was a bit confused, wondering why they were mentioning Mr. Jenkins and whether it had anything to do with her.
But Winnie understood as she thought, 'So Lawrence has met Bentley, and Mars, out of jealousy, rushes here to use Melanie like a fool tool.'
She couldn't help but mock Mars, "I heard Mr. Martin found a new girlfriend? Ishara? Ishara and Melanie are cousins. You come here in the middle of the night to praise Melanie's beauty? How sleazy are you?"
Melanie immediately remembered that Mars was involved with Ishara.
She was upset and asked angrily, "Mr. Martin, what exactly do you want?"
Mars shot a cold glance at Winnie, just about to continue his pretense when Lawrence quickly chimed in, "Ms. Stewart, Mr. Martin here is all about the money. Whenever he cozies up to someone, it's to use them. Look at what happened to the Rodriguez Family and don't give him the time of day."
Melanie was shocked, shouting, "Lawrence, shut up!"
Mars was fuming, glaring at him. He was indeed approaching Melanie for Bentley, but now wasn't the time to spill the beans. Lawrence had just blown up his spot.
Mars continued, "Ms. Stewart, don't listen to his crap. I genuinely think you're kind and lovely, and I wanted to be friends with you. I'm not like Lawrence, who loves to be two-timing with both sisters."
Winnie's face went pale.
Lawrence noticed and a cold light flashed in his eyes as he looked at Mars. He smirked, "Unlike Mr. Martin, at least I haven't called Ms. Stewart a beauty or kind and lovely, using such shady words. I'm just here to visit the patient."
Mars's face twisted with anger, his eyes glaring sinisterly at Lawrence, and he said, "Watch your mouth. Do you need me to remind you of your status?"
"And how would you remind me?" Lawrence's lips curled coldly.
Mars's face turned red with rage as he thought, 'I can't exactly say I want to have Lawrence killed, especially not here. I have to be careful with my words.'
Mars was best at being sneaky, leaving no trace on the surface.
He swallowed his anger and turned to Winnie, raising an eyebrow, "Ms. Anderson, do you need me to kick out this guy who has hurt you?"
Winnie paused as Melanie looked at her and Lawrence's deep gaze also turned to her.
Everyone in the room was waiting for her answer.
She was so frustrated that she wanted to kick Mars.
She didn't want Lawrence here, but seeing Mars's sinister arrogance and Lawrence's expectant gaze, she had no choice but to say, "Alright, can both of you leave? Melanie needs rest. We've seen enough of shows today. Please leave!"
Winnie unceremoniously kicked them out and warned Mars not to target Melanie.
Lawrence, however, slightly curled his lips because Winnie hadn't let Mars kick him out.
But Mars felt humiliated as he thought, 'I am now the top young man of Veridiania, yet Winnie still compares me to Lawrence. But I still need to use Melanie. I found out that Melanie is injured today, and Bentle urgently arranged for doctors from the Jenkins Group hospital on a business trip. There are rumors that Bentley has an illegitimate daughter. Mars had to swallow his pride and said, "Ms. Anderson, don't be mad. We won't bother you anymore."
As he left, he shot a glare at Lawrence.
Lawrence, with one hand in his pocket, looked at Winnie with deep, charming eyes and said gently, "The lobster is getting cold."
Winnie coldly watched him leave with Mars.
