Chapter 218 Rock is Truly Despicable

He pinched the space between his eyebrows, thinking about everything she had done for him. His tone softened, "It's alright, I promise we'll have a grand celebration, and I'll make it happen."

"Mr. L, you're so kind!" Darcy affectionately rubbed his shoulder.

With his employees present, Lawrence R managed to restrain the urge to shrug off her touch. He didn’t want to cause her embarrassment despite his feelings of discomfort.

But his dark eyes slightly narrowed, feeling momentarily unfamiliar with the current situation.
What was originally a fake engagement, planned to annoy Winnie, had gradually became real.
He told himself to suppress his thoughts.

He had a lifelong responsibility to take care of Darcy, and besides, he had promised her parents to get engaged. He shouldn't entertain the foolish idea, he once had, of cancelling the engagement for Winnie, she didn't deserve it.

Suppressing the restlessness in his chest, Lawrence R calmly looked up, "Darcy, can you leave now. I still have work to do."

"Okay, I'll go to the Third Hospital for scar revision surgery and then come back to make lunch for you in the lounge. We'll eat together." Darcy pouted lightly.

Only Darcy’s voice could be hear from the office, by the employees, who was concerned that they didn’t know she would soon be the wife of the CEO of Imperial Jewelry. So, Luke quietly waited for Darcy to come out before he walked in, holding the information he had found.

Leaned back in his large chair, Lawrence R furrowed his brows, "What's going on now? What's the matter?"

"It's me, Mr. L." Luke steadied himself and walked over. The entire company had been enduring Mr. L’s extraordinary fury these past few days, so it was with caution that Luke approached.

"You were drunk last night and asked me to check online for information about the Rock attack incident. I found out that this Rock is a schemer. Two days ago, Triton Tower was suddenly auctioned off by the shareholders.”

Luke paused, trying to gauge how Lawrence would react to the next piece of information. “Rock first loaned money to Miss Anderson, and then secretly bribed paid posters to attack him, creating a false image of him being trapped. It was like setting a trap to deceive Miss Anderson into getting engaged, Mr. L.”

“Maybe Miss Anderson doesn't even know about Rock's ambitions? He's truly a selfish person willing to snatch someone else's love!" He finished.

Luke realized yesterday that Lawrence R, didn't want to terminate the pregnancy. So, when he left, he didn't provide any further information about the child. He thought that maybe Mr. L, the Imperial Jewelry's CEO, misunderstood. Thinking that Miss Anderson had cheated on him and then got engaged.

It was because of this, his resentment reached its peak. Luke thought, maybe the CEO could understand that Miss Anderson might have been deceived as well. Could there be room for a reversal? He wondered.

Lawrence R stared at the information; his gaze replaced by a chilling shiver. "Daring to plot against me, being noble appearance yet a despicable person. That foolish woman actually believes him!”

Lawrence R questioned Luke, “Why are you showing me these? Do I care about their trivial affairs? Maybe she willingly fell into this trap just to be with her lover!" but Luke felt that Miss Anderson wasn’t like that.

Lawrence R enraged, he wasn’t rational when it came to Winnie. Luke felt like he had nothing to lose on the subject, "I think Miss Anderson separating from you is your own business, but for Rock to snatch her away is just not right. Are you willing to let that happen?"

Lawrence R's gaze darkened, and he smirked coldly, "I can give up a person, but I won't let him steal her away. They will want to live a good life, but it's nothing but a dream."

He was unwilling to let it go, as a result Luke breathed a sigh of relief. He now knew that Mr. L wouldn't just ‘give up’ on Miss Anderson, otherwise, something would be amiss.

In Lymington Hospital, Olivia, dressed in a nurse uniform and wearing a mask, infiltrated various offices within the renal department. She retrieved all the patient information from the day of the kidney transplant surgeries, as instructed by Winnie, and investigated the patients' details.

But she found no mistakes. That day, there were a total of five kidney transplant patients, including Madam Rodriguez. Two donors and two recipients, all the surgeries were successfully completed.

Winnie had suspected that Darcy had deceived them, and so Olivia continued with her investigation. She let herself into the director's office, wanting to retrieve the data on today’s kidney sample. Just as she reached the back of the curtain, someone suddenly entered the room.

"The world is small," came Darcy's casual voice. "My scars must be completely removed, there mustn’t be a mark left. It’s so obvious, and I want my stomach to look perfect. I am about to get engaged and I want my body to be flawless for that night."

Olivia held her breath, hiding below the curtain, gritting her teeth, and rolling her eyes. Clearly, Darcy was still delusional about, seducing Lawrence R, that shameless green tea bitch.

"Miss Ordelia, please rest assured. The scar is shallow. We can have a prominent expert, from the cosmetic department, use laser treatment three to five times to remove it for you"

The voice of the male doctor was familiar to Olivia. Wasn't he one of the surgeons she investigated for the transplantation surgery for Madam Rodriguez?

Barbara coldly reminded the doctor, "Miss Ordelia's scars are from a kidney transplant surgery. They are not simply shallow? Mr. Gonzalez, please use the correct words."

The doctor glanced at the door, coughed heavily, and quickly changed his words, "Yes, yes, of course. Miss Ordelia did donate a kidney, which means the wound is not small. I will call the expert, from the cosmetic department, right now."

Darcy's gaze scanned the entrance, aware of the walls having ears and eyes. Her scar wasn't deep; it was intentionally made to look worse, than it was. In an attempt to make Mr. L believe, without any doubt, that she had told the truth.

She could have gone, directly to the cosmetic department when coming to the hospital, but she was afraid Mr. L would inquire about his acquaintances there. So, she always went through the motions, in the kidney department.

She couldn't leave any suspicious loopholes, especially for that Jeremy. Darcy was afraid he would come to the hospital, to investigate something and find out the truth. After the doctor left, Barbara muttered under her breath, "What an idiot! Winnie Anderson, you will fall first."

Darcy then walked towards the back of the curtain. Suddenly, a figure bumped into the curtain from behind. Olivia pulled up her mask, covering her face, and tried to rush out of the door.

"Hey, who are you?" Darcy glimpsed at the person hiding behind, a hint of suspicion in her almond-shaped eyes.

"I'm sorry, I'm a nurse in this department. I came to clean the diagnostic bed, but unfortunately, the director brought a patient in with you. I will leave now." Olivia's voice sounded strained as she tried to cover it up.

"A nurse? What's your name?" Darcy glanced at her chest, observing the woman in front of her. Long hair tucked under the nurse's hat, petite face, delicate eyebrows, and big eyes. Olivia quickly broke free from her grip and ran outside!

"Hey, who told you to leave!" Barbara sensed that something was wrong and chased after her.

Olivia, panicking, dashed towards the entrance, and was abruptly silenced as a slender hand covered her mouth. All of a sudden, she was pulled into the adjacent room. The smell of disinfectant filled the air, as she was carried into a small cubicle by a tall man.

It was then that she realized, this was the men's restroom! Looking up, she was even more dumbfounded! There was a glint of light on the gold-rimmed glasses, showing his cold eyes, and below was a face overflowing with wickedness. Jeremy?! What is he doing here?

Barbara failed to catch the person and returned. She noticed that Miss Ordelia's expression was not quite right, as she picked up the notes that were lying on the diagnostic bed.

"I wonder who this nurse is? She seems so careless," Darcy narrowed her eyes. "She wasn't wearing a name tag, claimed to be cleaning, and didn't even wear gloves. And what a coincidence, this case here belongs to a kidney transplant patient," she added.

Her gaze turned cold as she furrowed her brows, thinking of the nurse's eyes behind the mask earlier, staring at her fiercely. It felt somewhat familiar.

A slight unease washed over her, "Go and call Mr. Gonzalez back."
