Chapter 831 Lawrence Is Useless
"Oscar, what are you thinking about? Why do you look so worried?" Sidney tugged at Oscar.
Oscar immediately closed his laptop, looked at Sidney, and hesitated to speak.
He couldn't tell Sidney about this; it would be like telling everyone.
There were too many uncertainties.
He pursed his slightly pale lips and looked gravely at Winnie. "I was thinking about Lawrence and Ishara."
"Huh?" Sidney's face darkened. "Why are you thinking about Dad and that bad woman Ishara together?"
He was really puzzled. After thinking for a while, he pointed at Oscar and said through gritted teeth, "Oscar! Are you trying to break up Dad and Mom by getting Dad close to Ishara? You're so bad, don't even think about it!"
Oscar looked at Sidney speechlessly.
That was why he couldn't share important secrets with Sidney.
Sidney's mind was full of reuniting Lawrence and Winnie.
If Sidney knew there was another brother or sister, he and Lawrence would probably think the same way: use the child to keep Winnie by Lawrence's side!
But Oscar didn't want Winnie to be tied down by anyone anymore; her life had been miserable enough these past few years.
Oscar's heart softened; he wanted to give Winnie a choice.
If Ishara could safely give birth to the child, he would find a way to secretly take the child and have someone else raise it. When the time was right, he would tell Winnie. Whether she accepted it or not, he would respect her decision.
He just couldn't let that child disappear.
Oscar couldn't bear it!
But because of Ishara's recent actions, he couldn't make this decision alone.
"Do you think Lawrence is still trustworthy? Sidney, be honest." Oscar suddenly asked.
Sidney was stunned for a moment, not understanding what Oscar meant. Oscar had always been more emotionally intelligent than him, and the question was too profound.
But Sidney slowly began to understand what Oscar was trying to express. He grabbed Oscar's small hand and nodded seriously, "Can't you see Dad's change? He's been revolving around Mom every day, using many methods, and his attitude of admitting mistakes is sincere. Oscar, I've never seen Dad so humble."
He continued, "If he's willing to put aside his dignity just for Mom, whether or not he gets back together with Mom, he will always be as attentive and helpful to her as he is today. He won't change."
Oscar squinted his eyes, watching Lawrence's tall figure disappear.
Even if Lawrence didn't get back together with Winnie, would he still wholeheartedly think of her?
Oscar tightly clutched his laptop, his long eyelashes fluttering, and he made a silent decision in his heart.
Find an opportunity to tell Lawrence everything.
He was still young; maybe only Lawrence could control Ishara.
Rock came out of Trento City Global Trust Bank; it was already late at night.
He had mortgaged a lot of assets from the Harrington Group and managed to secure a $50 billion loan from the bank president.
He felt somewhat uneasy.
Sitting in the car, he crossed his long legs and frowned gloomily. He suddenly asked his subordinate, "What's the situation with Lawrence?"
"Mr. Harrington, as you instructed, I have someone keeping an eye on him. He's at the hospital, accompanying Winnie and Carlos for a check-up. He was so attentive that he didn't go to the Rodriguez Group all day, busy pleasing Carlos. I don't think Lawrence can do anything."
Rock squinted his eyes, took a bite of his cigarette, and his expression relaxed.
He curled his cold lips and mocked, "Do you think he doesn't want to help Winnie against me? He has to have the capability for that. What does he have now to stop me? The failing Rodriguez Group? Lawrence is done for; now he only wants Winnie and doesn't even care about the company."
"That's exactly what I mean! Mr. Harrington, Lawrence can't help her with anything except staying by her side."
Rock sneered, glanced at the $50 billion loan contract, and had no more concerns.
The next day.
Rock went to the Blanchet Group and threw down a $100 billion investment contract in front of the shareholders.
Lysander was stunned and urgently contacted Winnie, speaking loudly in public, "Ms. Anderson, where are you now? Rock is here to invest, and he actually has $100 billion!"
"I'm at the hospital; my father is critically ill." Winnie's voice came through the speakerphone, hoarse.
The shareholders' faces changed, and they rushed over, "Winnie! What's wrong with Mr. Blanchet?"
"Winnie, you need to come over now! If you don't take charge, this real estate project will become Rock's!"
"Fellow shareholders, the Serene Haven Hotel real estate project is now mine," Rock said, staring at Lysander's phone and laughing triumphantly.
On the phone, Winnie seemed to lose all her strength and shouted in a breakdown, "Rock! You beast! Lysander, stop him, don't take his money. I'm coming over right now!"
Rock looked unhurriedly at the shareholders, whose expressions had softened, and coldly laughed, "Winnie, even if you don't want this $100 billion, the shareholders won't agree. The Blanchet Group's stock has been falling for a week now and is already under unbearable pressure."
"This $100 billion investment in the Serene Haven Hotel project will allow the project to start immediately. In six months, the hotel complex will be completed and start making money. If you don't agree, will the shareholders?"
"Rodolfo, Randal, don't agree, I'm rushing over from the hospital!" Winnie deliberately shouted through the phone, her voice hoarse.
But then a doctor's voice came through, "Ms. Anderson, Mr. Blanchet is in critical condition and needs immediate surgery!"
"What? Dad, Dad." Winnie cried and ran after the stretcher.
The sound of the stretcher mixed with chaotic noises.
Rodolfo and Randal Potts exchanged glances and shook their heads secretly.
Rock looked at their hesitant expressions and curled his lips.
He hadn't expected Ishara's drug to be so strong that it almost killed Carlos.
Winnie was overwhelmed; with Carlos almost dying, could these directors still oppose him?
Sure enough, Rodolfo was the first to stand up, gritting his teeth as he looked at Rock and said to Lysander, "I agree to his investment!"
A few seconds later, Randal also raised his hand to vote, "I agree too. The Blanchet Group's most profitable project right now is the Serene Haven Hotel. We can't let Winnie's personal decision affect the company's fate."
Lysander's face turned pale as he held up his phone, trying to contact Winnie, but she was not online.
Rock stared at Lysander with satisfaction, glanced at the investment contract, and said, "Lysander, put the contract away and inform the entire Blanchet Group that I am taking over today."
Lysander slumped into his chair, his face ashen, muttering and clenching his fists, "Ms. Anderson! The Blanchet Group is about to change."
In the hospital.
Carlos looked puzzled as the doctor wheeled him into the operating room. "Winnie, what are you doing?"
Winnie pursed her lips.
Lawrence's features were calm. "Dad, we're just putting on a convincing act. There are Rock's people around."
Carlos's question got stuck in his throat, and he glared angrily at Lawrence. "What did you call me? You scoundrel!"
"Dad." Lawrence showed no sign of shamelessness, his handsome face steady and serious.
Winnie remained silent.
