Chapter 802 It's Rock
Lawrence said, "I recently sent Ray to infiltrate the Peterson Family. This is the message he suddenly sent me today. Luckily, it was timely, otherwise Sidney and Oscar..."
Winnie felt a chill run down her spine after reading the message.
Her two children were so young, and someone was targeting them, trying to kill them.
Today, Lawrence reacted quickly enough, but what about tomorrow? Could they escape again?
She lost her composure, yelling at Lawrence, "Is it the Peterson Family trying to harm the kids? I should never have let you take care of the kids, Lawrence. Not only have you brought endless trouble, but now you've also put the kids in danger. I will never forgive you! I regret ever meeting you; my life has been nothing but turmoil since."
After her outburst, her eyes were bloodshot.
Lawrence felt a sharp sting from those words, causing a spasm of pain in his chest. The harm he had caused her in the past had led to her current distrust.
He could only say, "This time, it's not the Peterson Family trying to kill the kids!"
Winnie was confused, "But didn't you just say Ray infiltrated the Peterson Family? If it's not the Peterson Family, how did Ray get the information?"
"It's not the Peterson Family, but it could be someone related to them, Winnie."
Lawrence's cold eyes narrowed as he stared deeply at her, "Ray found out through some investigation that Ronnie had previously supported someone. This person helped Ronnie with many shady dealings, essentially acting as Ronnie's lackey."
"Are you saying this person wants to harm the kids? Who is he?" Winnie asked, puzzled.
Lawrence sneered, "I suspect the person close to Ronnie is Rock."
Winnie's eyes widened.
She had never considered that Rock might know Ronnie.
But Rock had told her himself that he didn't even know Mars well.
Lawrence noticed her shock and his thin lips curled into a mocking smile, "Rock has always hidden things well from you, hasn't he? He even deliberately distanced himself from anyone in the Peterson Group, right?"
"But Winnie, have you ever thought about how Rock, who came to Trento City just a year ago, managed to transform from an outsider in the business world to a leading entrepreneur in such a short time? Who gave him that power?"
"Rock couldn't have suddenly risen in Trento City without some means. The business competition here is too fierce, with many powerful families. Have you ever thought about that?"
Winnie's mind went blank. She had been curious about Rock's connections before.
Rock had only told her that he had friends in Trento City helping him.
She hadn't thought much of it.
But if Rock had been colluding with Ronnie from the beginning...
Then, when Ronnie was attacking the Rodriguez Family, was Rock involved?
Her thoughts were in disarray.
Lawrence's cold eyes narrowed as he calmly analyzed, "Think about it, what motive would the Peterson Family have to suddenly want to kill the kids?"
"I've been under pressure from the Peterson Family recently. They are now the top family in Veridiania, high and mighty. Ronnie and Mars have no reason to go to such lengths to destroy me. I think the likelihood of them harming the kids is very small."
"Ray got the information because he overheard Mars's assassin mention it. Someone used this assassin for today's incident, but Mars himself was unaware. So, the Peterson Family didn't know about today's events either. That's why I suspect Rock used the assassin!"
Winnie's hand trembled, and cold sweat began to form.
In the past, she would have thought Lawrence was slandering Rock.
But now, with Sierra dead and Olivia missing, both incidents were related to Rock.
She was no longer sure.
But would Rock be so cruel as to not spare even the two children?
Not to mention Sidney, but Oscar had grown up under his watch from infancy.
"Lawrence, do you have any evidence that Rock is behind this?" Winnie asked with difficulty.
"No." Lawrence's face turned cold as he looked at her, "Ray just infiltrated the Peterson Family and couldn't alert anyone. He only heard this information and immediately sent it to me."
He added, "If you think there's no evidence pointing to Rock, consider his connections with the Peterson Family. Think about it, where did his company get the funds for such rapid development?"
"And I've noticed that at recent business events, wherever Ronnie is, Rock is also present. At Adam's banquet, Angelina's banquet, he and the Peterson Family were inseparable."
"He had no background in Trento City, yet he suddenly rose to prominence. It's very likely he sought the Peterson Family as his backing from the beginning, helping them with their affairs."
Winnie's eyes flickered.
Just this afternoon, she had seen a video from Bentley showing Rock's flirtatious behavior.
Now Lawrence was telling her that Rock was colluding with the Peterson Family.
"Rock has a motive to harm the kids!" Lawrence's eyes were cold as he continued, "The incident in the bathroom at Angelina's banquet that night likely provoked Rock. He beat you so badly, showing that his anger hasn't subsided."
"Killing Sidney and Oscar would make me suffer immensely. And if the kids died in my care, you would surely blame me, and we would have no future together. This benefits him. As for any other motives he might have? That's unknown, but Rock is a despicable person."
Winnie's hands clenched tightly.
She couldn't help but recall the surveillance footage from the afternoon, where Rock was sadistically wielding a whip against that female secretary.
His personality was so two-faced and cruel. Yes, she and Lawrence had wronged him; how could he easily let her go?
He was also very good at disguises. Who knew what schemes lay beneath his calm exterior?
Moreover, this afternoon, Rock had even called to say he wanted to take the kids to a movie and dinner.
She had told him that Lawrence would be picking up the kids from school.
Was it then that Rock decided to harm the kids?
She had let her guard down and even voluntarily told Rock about the kids.
Winnie's eyes turned red, a hint of guilt flashing through them.
"Winnie." Lawrence saw her fall silent, her face pale and devoid of calm. He reached out his large hand to hold her cold fingers, finding them trembling. He hoarsely comforted her, "It's not your fault. You didn't want this to happen today. But if you still don't want to believe me, if you don't want to suspect Rock..."
"No, your suspicion is likely correct." Winnie uncharacteristically interrupted him firmly.
Lawrence was stunned. It was the first time she hadn't defended Rock in front of him. He should have been happy, but looking at her pale face, he was more worried, "Did you discover something about Rock? Or did he do something to you, hit you?"
"No." Winnie lowered her eyes. She used to think Lawrence was blind, unable to see through Darcy and Ishara.
But how much better was she? She had been deceived by Rock's facade for so long.
She said, "Rock is a terrifying person. I'm more worried about Sidney and Oscar's safety now."
