Chapter 930 Jeremy Shows Up

Although Louis was taken aback by Sam's sudden decision to get married, he went along with it. At Theodosia's urging, he even gifted Sam a mansion worth over a hundred million dollars and a small share of the company, rewarding him for setting his roots down.

Louis had no other expectations for his wayward son, Sam. As long as Sam could find a woman to marry and stop messing around with daughters of other big families, Louis didn't care who he married.

Louis wasn't completely in the dark about Sam's misdeeds. However, due to Theodosia's constant defense of Sam, he chose to look the other way.

Louis's true affection was reserved for Katerina, the woman he genuinely loved. Because of Katerina, Louis neglected Sam and Theodosia. He had long decided that Jeremy, who had shown exceptional promise from a young age, would be the heir to the DeRoss Family.

Sam was a gloomy character, prone to evil deeds, addicted to gambling, and lacking ambition.

Louis knew about Sam's illegitimate daughter, born three years ago after he raped an innocent girl. Now, Sam wanted to marry that same girl and acknowledge the illegitimate daughter.

After listening to Theodosia's tearful pleas, Louis agreed, though he was surprised to learn that the girl was also a member of the Smith Family, Lynn's cousin.

So be it.

Louis wanted to resolve this matter and let Theodosia handle Sam's wedding. He promised a significant amount of property and 5% of the DeRoss Group's shares as a reward for Sam settling down, hoping he would lead a more normal life and commit fewer crimes.

Theodosia was overjoyed. She knew that as long as Sam was willing to marry, Louis wouldn't abandon him.

Sam was even happier. He had money again, and his indulgences in food, drink, and gambling were no longer a problem.

But his greed extended far beyond that. As long as Lynn successfully married Jeremy, she would help him take over the DeRoss Family.

So he had to keep a close watch on Olivia and not let her ruin things.

At the bridal shop, the entrance opened into a spacious foyer filled with dazzling wedding dresses on display. The white gowns sparkled, in various styles that were overwhelming—bejeweled, trailing, and crafted by renowned international designers.

Every girl who saw these wedding dresses would be overjoyed, their hearts racing with excitement.

But Olivia felt nothing but a daze. She had never worn a wedding dress in her life, not even for a photo shoot.

She never imagined that one day she would have the chance to try on a wedding dress, only to find herself in such a situation.

Marrying Sam, whom she didn't love, to save Jake's life. This wedding might as well be her funeral.

Her eyes were clouded, her round eyes downcast and lifeless.

Like a puppet controlled by Sam, she walked among the wedding dresses.

"See anything you like?" Sam, restraining his anger in front of the store clerk, caressed Olivia's face to show affection. "Sweetheart?"

She felt like a walking corpse, wanting to escape, fearing she would vomit at any moment.

She pointed randomly at a dress. "This one."

Sam looked over. It was a slightly off-shoulder V-neck style, with a large area of rhinestones on the chest that would accentuate her curves. He glanced at Olivia's chest and smiled wickedly. "Not bad. It suits my taste. Go try it on!"

He patted her slender waist.

Olivia flinched away, her cold eyes scanning the rows of dresses.

Her thoughts flickered. She didn't see Lynn... and probably wouldn't see Jeremy either.

For some reason, she felt a sense of relief, but also a hollow emptiness. She didn't want to see him happily trying on wedding dresses with his lover, nor did she want him to see her bent and broken by life.

Maybe on the wedding day, her struggle would reveal the true nature of this wedding to him, and perhaps he would see her differently.

By then, they would become enemies because she would ruin his wedding, which was an important life event.

Olivia, lost in thought, was led to the fitting room by a clerk holding the dress.

The fitting room was large and luxurious. The clerk carefully handed her the wedding dress, repeatedly reminding her, "Mrs. DeRoss, please take your time trying it on."

Afraid she would be clumsy and damage it.

People in Lymington who followed the news knew that the DeRoss Family had two big weddings coming up—one was Jeremy's grand wedding, and the other was the lesser-known Sam's wedding, rumored to be with a single mother.

The clerk gave Olivia a disdainful look. "If you need help, please call me."

Olivia noticed the clerk's contempt but didn't care. Her mind was elsewhere, and she had no mood for this. After the clerk closed the spacious curtain, she stiffly undressed and put on the wedding dress she had randomly chosen.

The dress was tight, accentuating her curves, but she couldn't tie the back.

She tried to reach behind her, her fingers turning red from the effort, but she couldn't manage it.

She didn't want to wear it, didn't want this destructive wedding. Her hands dropped, her head bowed, her hair covering her eyes. She stared at her pale reflection in the mirror, her face showing no need for pretense.

Tears streamed down her face. She reached out, trying to wipe away the tears of the woman in the mirror.

But the tears kept flowing, and she ended up covering her eyes with her hands.

There was no one here, so she cried out loud.

She had aborted Jeremy's child, a cruel but necessary decision. She wanted to mourn their ambiguous relationship one last time, her mind filled with sweet moments when they silently acknowledged each other.

A hand reached out from behind, grabbing the laces of her dress, and paused for a moment.

Olivia felt the movement, her slender fingers moving away from her eyes, slowly lifting her head.

The hand on her back suddenly pulled hard, making her stumble backward.

In the mirror, she saw a tall, imposing figure behind her, a man's shadow looming over her.

Her tear-filled eyes widened in shock.

Jeremy looked down, elegantly holding the shoulder of her wedding dress, seemingly intrigued.

He tilted his head, a cigarette between his lips, his cold eyes narrowed as he silently observed her bare back.

His fingers lightly tapped her skin.

He had appeared so suddenly! Olivia's eyes widened in terror, her heart pounding like molten lava. She couldn't breathe, staring at his extraordinarily handsome face, the glasses reflecting a cold light, obscuring his expression.

She could only feel the air pressure around her drop to freezing levels.

It made her shiver.

Her emotions surged, a mix of intense and sorrowful feelings overwhelming her. She couldn't help but steal another glance at him.

Jeremy's large hand pressed down on her thin shoulder, leaving red marks on her pale skin.

But he no longer showed any tenderness, forcefully pressing her against the mirror, his tall body following suit...
