Chapter 127 Pacifying Her
Olivia heard her gasp and quickly walked out. She saw Nine hundred and ninety-nine roses arranged in the shape of a heart at the entrance of the apartment, with a limited-edition bag in the middle.
The sender was cold and mysterious, leaving no card, which should have been a give away.
Olivia looked at Winnie and they both thought the same thing.
The corners of Olivia's mouth twitched, "Could it be from L? He was quite harsh on you last night, and this morning he already knew he was wrong. Is he here to ask for forgiveness? It seems he's putting in a lot of effort."
"Wow, this is a crocodile leather bag!" Olivia exclaimed.
Picking up the bag in astonishment, Winnie's face twitched slightly. She stared at Olivia, urging her with her eyes to put it down. "Forget it," she said, pursing her lips. She thought he would reflect on his behavior overnight and at least realize where he went wrong. But it turned out that he didn't have any clue. What did his flower delivery mean?
"You're not happy?" Olivia asked cautiously. "I thought this time L would also give you the silent treatment, but he seems to have made some progress."
Winnie, with a sullen face and conflicting emotions, took her briefcase and left for work.
At Triton Company.
Just before noon, the head chef from a five-star hotel suddenly came and delivered an exquisite meal for pregnant women to Manager Anderson. Gossip spread among the secretaries.
‘Is Ms. Anderson being pursued by someone?’ Was whispered in hushed tones.
Winnie, with a cold expression, instructed the security guard to escort the chef out.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, two deliverymen brought in an enormous bouquet of tulips flown in from the Netherlands and placed them in Winnie's office.
Now, the whole company was abuzz. It seemed like someone was truly pursuing Ms. Anderson—a romantic gesture indeed.
As Winnie came out of a meeting, unexpectedly, the manager of the Hermes counter was waiting politely in the lobby to deliver a few limited-edition handbags to her.
The receptionists and employees passing by all wore envy on their faces.
A female supervisor, who was quite familiar with Winnie, teased, "Ms. Anderson, is your boyfriend trying to make it up to you? This tactic seems so familiar to me, though my boyfriend wouldn't spend this much money. Your boyfriend is so generous!"
Winnie looked at everyone's gaze and blushed, even though she tried to remain composed.
What was L doing? Disturbing her work intentionally? Winnie was afraid he would send something else, disrupting the company's order, so she decided to leave early.
Olivia came to pick her up, and the two of them waited at a café in the city center, where Laura would join them later.
Observing Winnie's powerless expression, Olivia chuckled. "Someone must have given L a terrible idea—a strategy of buying, buying, buying. But have you felt at least a bit of his sincerity in apologizing?"
Winnie was taken aback, her heart skipping a beat.
Olivia sighed, "Even with my limited interaction with L, I can see how cold and distant he usually is. I guess this is the first time he's been so doting on a woman. It's quite a sensation."
"Are you speaking up for him?" Winnie pouted.
Olivia waved her hand. "Who dares to? But that's not enough. If he doesn't show up in person, it's not genuine."
Winnie felt her emotions stirring and looked up at the traffic outside.
Laura arrived and called them out.
Despite the early darkness of deep winter, the city center remained bustling. Queen's Square was adorned with radiant lights, and skyscrapers stood tall. Among them, the renowned Imperial Building was the tallest.
At that moment, a man walked out of the Imperial Group office building. His eyes had a profound gaze as he looked towards Queen's Square. "Is she there?"
Jeremy nodded and directed him, "I've already arranged everything. When the time comes, you can go directly to Queen's Square and-" Jeremy hesitated before continuing.
"When proposing, can you say sweet words?"
"..." L gave him a cold glance.
Benjamin also found it difficult for him - L, what good words could he possibly say?
L immediately suspected Jeremy, "What tricks have you been studying all night? I gave her gifts all day, and she ended work early. Are you sure you didn't make her angrier?"
"..." Jeremy coughed, "What do you mean? If you're capable, apologize directly. I even helped you buy the love guide on the live-streaming app late at night."
"..." The man's arrogant demeanor disappeared.
Jeremy glanced at him, "It's because Winnie feels like you don't value her, that you treat her casually, and even put her behind other women. You deceived her, that's the crux of the problem. You need to let her know that you care."
"That's what she means?" L asked.
"Women don't say it, but deep down, that's what they mean. Since you've been together, you haven't pursued her. Take this opportunity to show sincerity." Jeremy urged.
L asked coldly, "What sincerity?"
"I've already prepared everything," Jeremy transformed into a director, turning his head to point at the Imperial Building. "Look—"
L turned his head and saw several LED characters appearing on the building: "Winnie, I'm sorry!" In a Scrolling display style.
"..." The man's face quickly turned as dark as the bottom of a pot, lifting his leg to kick Jeremy.
"Hurry up, walk over. I've prepared other projects too," Jeremy threatened him.
L gritted his teeth and rubbed his forehead, "You've made a fool out of me!"
Benjamin's mouth twitched, feeling that L's face had been rubbed against the ground by Jeremy. The man walked toward the women in the square.
At this moment, there was a brief silence in the square.
The tallest building had just gone dark, then the words 'Winnie, I'm sorry' appeared on it.
Olivia and Laura were both startled, turning their heads to look at Winnie simultaneously.
Winnie was also bewildered, her face blank.
Olivia exclaimed, "Could it be L..."
Just then, in the eyes of the crowd that had stopped, a tall and elegant man, dressed in a black suit, with long straight legs, walked towards Winnie.
He wore a silver mask, and when Winnie collided with his deep eyes, her face stiffened. He approached, and suddenly, a net fell from the sky. It was no ordinary net, but a beautiful net made of countless diamond fragments, covering Winnie completely.
Olivia and Laura: "..."
Though it was cliché, truly cliché, the hundreds of genuine diamond fragments really moved people's hearts!
Numerous girls around exclaimed, envying the man's tall and noble presence.
"Oh my god, is that girl being proposed to?"
"A net made of diamonds, capturing the heart of the beloved, so sweet!"
Winnie: "..." Looking at the man, with his ebony eyes, her face turned red, embarrassed.
The pounding in his heart was chaotic. A black line appeared on L's forehead. Looking at that diamond necklace, he cursed Jeremy hundreds of times in his mind, finding it very tacky.
But at this moment, he had to admit that as he stiffly approached the woman and noticed the heavy dark circles under her eyes. A complex feeling surged within him as he furrowed his brow and awkwardly took her hand, saying in a low and deep voice, “Don’t be angry anymore. I was wrong to deceive you, but I want you, that's the truth”
In front of everyone, with all eyes on them, Winnie felt weak and unable to resist his advances. Did he want her? He was ruthless and seemed unable to find more eloquent words.
But the meaning was important, although faint she understood. “I don’t like Darcy, how many times do I have to say it?”
“She’s no longer my fiancee, how many times do you want me to say it?”
“I care about you, and if you haven't felt it, then I'll try to learn to make you feel it,” he said seriously and domineeringly. “Okay, Winnie,” he said in a cold but magnetic tone.
Winnie's cheeks turned red, feeling her heart about to burst. She quickly withdrew her hand and stepped back several steps away from him. “Winnie!” L pursued.
