Chapter 81 Hospital Estrangement

When she saw that L hadn't left yet, a pang of sadness hit her and she trembled in her heart. Winnie’sShard Yin's eyes lit up, thinking that maybe he was stubborn but still cared about her.

But then she saw him draping a coat over Darcy's shoulders - it turns out it was for both of them. He hadn't left; he was simply taking care of Darcy. She was drenched and needed to see a doctor.

CurrentlyMeanwhile, she had beengot beaten up and was now in excruciating pain laying in the hospital room with not a drop of water to drink because Lhe, wouldn't allow for a nurse to be called in.

Especially from Winnie’sher perspective, it seemed as if he was almost embracing ed Darcy in his arms. What kind of sister would deserve such intimate treatment? Winnie wondered to herself.

Winnie's gaze turned cold instantly. As she got out of bed, pain coursing through her entire body.

She pushed the IV stand and slowly walked towards the water machine just outside the room.out.

Darcy, sharp-eyes caught her movements at the door andd, immediately remained on inded L, wawrence R, while she herself took two steps back, creating some distance between her and the man. It was a gesture of detachment but resembled a silver lining in this situation.

Winnie shot a cold glance at them. Suddenly, the cup became too heavy, in her weakened state and she trembled, causing the glass to fall and it to smash onto her foot, prompting her to cry out in pain.

TheA man's icy , large icy hand immediately reached out and caught her from falling. Lawrence R frowned coldly, admonishing her, "Can't you be more careful?"

He picked up the cup and noticed her dry, pale lips as he set her up straight. A hint of pity welled up in his heart. Did she thirst for water? Should he get some for her?

But Winnie heard his irritable tone, completely different from the expression he had when he draped the coat over Darcy. DiscontentmentHer discontent surged with in her, and she immediately grabbed the IV stand, coldly freeing herself from his grasp in haste. .

Her actions displeased the man. He had already given her a way to save face, yet this woman was being cheeky? He really wanted to give her a spanking. He felt her sudden action had a deeper meaning.

He grabbed the IV stand firmly, glaring at her cold and weak little face, "What do you mean, Winnie?" he asked as though she had said something offensive.

Winnie held her breath, self-deprecatingly saying, "It means nothing. I don't want to delay you from helping your sister get dressed."

"What do you mean getting dressed?" L’s awrence R's face filled with a chill, "What were you doing?"

Darcy hurriedly ran over, partially concealing a touch of grievance in her eyes. She held Lawrence ’s R's arm and said, "Alright, Mr. L, Mrs. L has finally come out, so please stop. Mrs. L..."

Then she turned to Winnie, her eyes slightly misty and her voice full of discomfort as she explained, "I was drenched, and Mr. L just draped his coat over me. He told me to leave, nothing else. Mrs. L, please don't misunderstand me..."

Winnie narrowed her eyes and looked at Darcy. She couldn't like this woman no matter what, and today's feeling was even more intense.

From the moment she appeared, she held onto L's wrist, and a casual remark in the hospital room made L seethe with anger. Winnie could discern that something was not right.

She sneered, "I haven't misunderstood anything, Darcy. You don't need to emphasize or explain that he put his coat on you. Is not any of my concern don't care."

Winnie admitted to herself that she had lost control a bit in that moment. She knew she shouldn't have said that, but everything had come to this point. Why should she care anymore?

This man didn't care about her either, leaving her in the hospital room alone and attending to other women outside. Just the thought of her being stuck in the room, unable to move an inch, while he was caring for Darcy. .
She felt resentment and anger in her heart towards him..

The words "Is not any of my concern don't mind" hit made Lawrence R hard making his 's face turn look sinister instantly. Whenever they quarreled, she would retreat like a timid turtle, trying to distance herself from him with a single sentence.

The man scoffed and reprimanded Darcy, "What are you explaining to her so kindly for? Did she appreciate your effort to go to the lawyer for her? She clearly doesn't care, so if she wants to accuse me, I might as well give her something to accuse me of!"

Darcy wanted to say something anxiously, but L’s her eyes slipped past herim unnoticed, completely focused on Winnie..

"Winnie, you really don't understand what's good for you." Lawrence R thought he must be crazy to still wait outside instead of leaving.

He had initially thought that if she softened her expression even a little bit, he would take the opportunity to reconcile with her.

But this kind of trashy woman—mistaking him for her savior while living together with her ex, and blaming him for not saving her, and even suspecting him and Darcy? Is she deliberately picking a fight?

"Since you don't care” he turned away from Winnie “, Darcy, I'll take you home!" he said sternly.

"Mr. L, you can't leave Mrs. L like this." Darcy pleaded desperately.

This time, Lawrence R was truly furious with Winnie. Coldness emanated from him and engulfed the entire corridor as he walked out, he grabbed Darcy's hand harshly and walked away from Winnie.

Winnie stood in place, feeling abandoned and holding onto the IV stand. Seeing him tightly clutching Darcy's wrist, her heart felt colder than the howling wind outside.

After a while she tried to return to her hospital bed,, her tired eyes slowly started to feel like closeclosingd, and a touch of sadness spread at the corners of her eyes.

"Nurse..." she choked out, feeling a slight pain in her stomach and wanting to cry even more.

The nurse hurriedly came over to support her, the nurse had seen and glanced at L awrence R and the woman he was with from behind's backs as they left Winnie’s room earlier. She could roughly guess the situation.
"Is he your husband?” The nurse asked. “ You saidy you won't give in, but I sawee him waiting out here for a long time, not saying anything to the other woman. It looked like he was Looks like he's waiting for you to come out."

Winnie's mind was still buzzing with anger and she couldn't take in the information anymore. With red eyes, she shuffled back into her hospital room and lay down exhausted on the bed.

Outside the hospital, theheavy rain poured down, gradually getting heavier..

In the car, Darcy secretly rejoiced thatas Lthe man had held her hand and pulled her along.

The man beside herThe man was , consumed by anger, L was awakened by the cold rain only then did he realize that he was still holding Darcy’s hand.. He immediately let go of Darcy's hand, his black eyes cold and gloomy.

L was awrence R, exhausted after the days events, he did not have the energy to nd heartlessaddress Darcy’s presence and just , said, "Darcy, go back on your own." His tone almost heartless.

Darcy's face froze. He had just said he would take her home. Yes, it was just an angry remark directed at Winnie, but Darcy had thought he would follow through out of a sense of obligation..

He was using her, the realization hit Darcy harder than expected..

Lawrence R also understood his words and his actions were in total contradictionthis. He felt somewhat apologetic and said, "I'll call a car for you."

Darcy's heart felt like it had been scrapped. It was a bitter feeling that rose up inside Darcytaste, but it was the path she had chosen. She knew that enduring the humiliation from Winnie would eventually pay off. She would repay her a thousandfold in the end!!

She raised her gaze and immediately became submissive and understanding. "It's okay, Mr. L. I just have a slight cold. I can go back on my own." She said pitifully.

She played the part of vulnerable and meek damsel in distress, hoping he would take pity on her and change his mind.pitiful card.

But the Lman didn't pay her any attention at allany attention to her. His eyes, filled with gloom, were fixed on the second floor of the hospital, as though he was not even in that moment at all..

Darcy's nails left a shallow scratch on the leather as she slowly got into her car, a sign of her frustration..

As the car left the hospital, she smiled slowly. Regardless of the outcome tonight, she was satisfied. Mr. L's "kind efforts" were still vivid in her memory, and the relationship between these two people had already developed cracks under the provocation. These small cracks y would only become more and more unbearable for each other as time passed..

"This time reconciliation seemeds difficult, didn’toesn't it? The only disappointment was is that Winnie's child did not terminate, terminate; Winnie had managed to protect it some howsomehow. Darcy felt angry at the last thought, Darcy's eyes grew dark in the corners.

Darcy She dialed Ava's number aaggressivelyngrily, raising her voice as soon as Ava answered, . ”You'You idiot, who did you hire? You couldn't even get rid of the child...” '

The smell of smoke filled a dark car that was parked in the hospital yard as L awrence R sat in his Bentley. His handsome profile in the shadows was as sharpcold as a knife, his cold gaze transfixed on the object of his anger which resided on the second floor of the hospital building..

L awrence R made a phonecold call to the hospital management he simply gave an order and the night manager arrangedto arrange for someone to take care of the ward. . No matter what Winnieshe did, nothing should happen to the child.

Thinking about what that scumbag had said about reaching out to Winnie’s her friend Olivia, L L’s awrence R's cold gaze remained cold, his eyes void of any emotion as he picked up his phone again,. he He made a call to Jeremy, who had just returned from out of town.

“ Use'Use your connections to find Olivia.”' His voice so steady it left no room for argument.

He issued a series of orders, leaving Jeremy bewildered. Sensing that something was off with Lawrence RL's mood, Jeremy asked, “Mr'Mr. L, what's wrong?”'

A cold wind howled and the call ended abruptly.

"..." Jeremy.

Lawrence R smoked self-deprecatingly, wondering why he cared at all about Winnie’sher life or her and death. She was just a woman who had only infuriated him, time after time..

A cold laugh escaped his lips, but his thoughts grew deeper. Did he truly know this woman? Were her business tactics, her ways with men, and her character pure at all? L Questioned himself.

Fueled by an indescribable impulse, he had taken her into his home, even wanting a long-term commitment and proposing a trial marriage. But all she gave him in return was mistrust, and the possibility of harming Imperial's business.

Was it worth being caught in the crossfire for her? Did his impulsive decision for Hot Spring Resort cloud his judgment? L awrence R asked himself, feeling a chilling sense of detachment.

The BentleyCayenne car pushed through the heavy rain at near top speed, almost furiously racing down the road, proclaiming its owner's terrible mood.
