Chapter 648 Melissa Appears

Hellen walked past Amy like she didn't even exist.

Amy felt a pang of reluctance but thought about her future, she could only glance at Bob before leaving him behind. She quickly chased after Hellen. "Mom, I'm so confused. Let me think."

Bob lay on the ground, his lips and teeth trembling with anger, pounding his fists against the floor.

He looked at Amy, the girl he had raised, abandoning him just like Hellen did. His gaze was cold and desolate, filled with betrayal.

The life he had been so proud of now seemed like a cruel joke.

He crawled towards the window, step by step, consumed by despair.

Just then, the door creaked open.

As Bob struggled to open the window, a frail figure ran up behind him, hugging him timidly yet courageously. "Mr. Rodriguez, don't do that!"

The force of the person rushing over caused both Bob and her to fall to the ground.

Melissa fell painfully but held onto Bob tightly to prevent him from falling out of the window.

"Who are you?" Bob asked warily.

In the dim light, he saw the gentle silhouette of a middle-aged woman, her slender fingers bony and delicate.

Her lips were pale, her hair tied up, her delicate eyebrows and eyes showing signs of illness, yet her former beauty was still evident.

Bob's eyes froze slightly, seeing a shadow of Lawrence in her face.

In fact, he no longer remembered what Melissa looked like; their relationship had been a mistake from the night many years ago.

"Is it you?"

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come in." Melissa lowered her head, her voice as soft as a mosquito's buzz. She was so timid that she couldn't muster the courage to speak to Bob.

"You're very ill and can't afford to fall again. If you don't mind, I'll help you to the bed and call a doctor for you, okay?"

Bob seemed to be soothed by her extremely gentle voice. He stood there, breathing heavily, without saying a word.

Melissa glanced back, and the maid, catching her look, also came in.

The two of them slowly helped Bob back to the bed.

The maid left.

Melissa stood awkwardly by the bed, keeping some distance from Bob. She glanced down at the doorway.

The room of the once-mighty Bob of the Rodriguez family was now unguarded.

None of the Rodriguez family relatives came to take care of him, showing just how precarious the Rodriguez family had become.

Melissa sorrowfully glanced at Bob's tall figure. When she met his sharp, probing eyes, she immediately said in a low voice, "Mr. Rodriguez, I didn't mean to disturb you. If you felt uncomfortable, I'll leave now. The doctor should be here soon."

She knew how awkward it would be for the two of them to meet.

When Lawrence brought her to Trento City for surgery but Bob refused to see her, she knew his attitude.

In fact, she had been hiding outside the door, hearing Hellen and Ronnie humiliating the once-proud chairman. When she wanted to rush in to help, Hellen specifically mentioned her. She couldn't let Bob be shamed, so she held back.

It wasn't until they left, gloating, and she saw that he was in despair that she had no choice but to reveal herself.

"Stop," Bob said in a defeated voice.

Melissa froze.

"Lawrence was really taken to the police station?"

Melissa nodded with her moistened eyes.

Bob sneered. "The Rodriguez family is in shambles, and not a single person told me that Lawrence was in trouble."

"You just had surgery; they were afraid you wouldn't make it," Melissa said, lowering her head. After a moment, she tried to comfort him, "Mr. Rodriguez, you have to stay strong. Mrs. Rodriguez and that guy from the Peterson family are trying to push you over the edge. You had a stroke and can't take any more stress. They have ulterior motives. The more this happens, the more you need to think about Lawrence and the Rodriguez family."

Bob was silent for a moment.

He looked coldly at Melissa, a woman who was very unfamiliar to him. "Did you hear everything just now?"

Melissa stiffened slightly, her face hidden in the dim light, anxious and annoyed at herself for talking too much.

Bob let out a long, mocking laugh.

He had never been one to show his emotions. To outsiders, he was a distinguished figure in Veridiania, and only the president could make him show any deference.

But his proud and perfect life had been tainted by Hellen.

Years ago, , he had saved Melissa out of compassion from being betrayed by Blake, leading to a mistake affair.

Hellen had never let go of this incident.

He didn't love Hellen or any woman; his heart was only for the family's business. But that didn't mean he wasn't a good husband.

To appease Hellen, he had continuously helped the then-small Peterson family.

He had given the Peterson family many benefits, and later, when Mars grew up, he didn't pursue that Hellen secretly favored the Peterson family.

He had thought Hellen was his family.

But he had helped an enemy, and Ronnie had slowly hollowed out the foundation of the Rodriguez Group.

Now, the Rodriguez Group had collapsed overnight, and Lawrence had been ruined by their schemes.

It was he who was the sinner, who had personally destroyed the century-old foundation of the Rodriguez family.

Melissa tightly clenched her hands, hearing Bob's heavy breathing, feeling his despair and collapse. He was Lawrence's father, a god-like figure in her heart, someone she had never dared to approach, not even with a loving glance.

But this time, he had truly fallen.

Bob pulled off his breathing mask, his eyes rolling back as he fainted in anger.

"Linda Parker, get the doctor! Mr. Rodriguez has passed out." Melissa looked worriedly at the blood at the corner of his mouth. "Hellen wants you dead. Don't fall for it! Think about Lawrence."

Lawrence rushed to the hospital after being bailed out from the police station.

"How is my father?" His tall figure stood at the door, his voice hoarse.

Anday looked pained. "Bob's stroke has worsened; he's vomiting a lot of blood. I checked the surveillance and found out that Hellen came last night. It was my oversight. Sean was seriously injured, and we were short-handed, so no one was watching Bob. I thought Amy would take good care of him, but who knew she was heartless like Hellen. Hellen came with Ronnie last night. Lawrence, you can imagine what happened. I found a divorce agreement at Bob's bedside. Hellen wants a divorce! She's trying to deliver a fatal blow to Bob. She has been a spy for the Peterson family all these years she, scheming all along."

Lawrence pressed down with bulging veins on his temples on the divorce agreement, which still had Bob's blood on it.

"Doctor, no matter what methods you use, you must save my father from life-threatening danger, or I won't let you off!"
