Chapter 918 Jeremy is Sick

Benjamin glanced at Mia. She was pretty cute and looked a lot like Jeremy.

Ray, usually so stern, had a rare softness in his voice as he spoke to Mia. "Don't worry, kiddo. We'll find Jeremy right now."

"Okay, let's go quickly," Mia said, tugging on Ray's arm. "Mr. Martin, let's go. Leave this guy here."

Benjamin was speechless.

First impressions, huh? Fine, I'll be polite.

Benjamin held back his temper and forced a friendly smile. "I'm not going to argue with you, Mia. Ms. Anderson sent me to pick you up, and I know where Jeremy lives."

"Mr. Martin, I actually know you, too. You're so handsome! Please take me to find Daddy."

Kids these days, so quick to change their tune.

Benjamin was at a loss for words. He took Mia from Ray's arms and headed towards his flashy Lamborghini.

"Benjamin, this isn't your business anymore. Get lost."

Ray caught up with the car keys in hand. "Where's Jeremy? Did he go back to the DeRoss Villa, or is he at his place in Lymington or the lakeside apartment?"

"The lakeside apartment. After he ran into Olivia at the DeRoss Group hospital, he went home without saying a word. His staff got worried and told me... What could I do?"

Ray shot him a disdainful look. "He'll talk to me. What else can you do besides curse?"

"Fuck!"

Mia, clutching the seat, had her ears perked up and her big eyes filled with worry for Jeremy and Olivia. She sighed inwardly. She might be small, but she understood that Jeremy and Olivia hadn't been in touch lately.

They broke up. No, they never even dated.

Jeremy accused Olivia of carrying someone else's child!

Mia didn't quite understand what that meant. She stared at Olivia's flat stomach, wondering if there was a new baby in there.

She felt sad and secretly hoped it was Jeremy's child.

If it were, then she and Jeremy could be a family, and Olivia's secret love would finally be fulfilled.

She overheard Oscar talking about a paternity test.

Was the secret mission Winnie gave her to get a paternity test for Jeremy and Olivia's baby?

It was too complicated for Mia to figure out.

But she knew Winnie was kind and would definitely help Olivia.

Mia clenched her fists, determined. "Mr. Ray Martin, Mr. Benjamin Martin, let's go!"

Benjamin was speechless.

Was he really being bossed around by a kid?

"How dare you order us around?" he couldn't help but frown.

Mia giggled and pointed at his pretty eyes. "Because you and Mr. Ray Martin are family. Mr. Ray Martin is a good person, so Mr. Benjamin Martin, you must be a good person too!"

Ray and Benjamin exchanged dark looks.

If she were Jeremy's daughter, they'd have spanked her by now. "Shut up, Mia."

Mia decided to lighten the mood and chat with them. "What's wrong? Don't you think I'm right? But Oscar says I'm very funny!"

Benjamin rubbed his forehead. "Alright, just keep it down. You're gonna make us laugh too much."

Mia made a face at him. "Old man, you're nothing like Jeremy. You can't handle me."

Was she a little devil in disguise?

Benjamin was convinced. Wasn't this just like Jeremy?

"Ray, don't you think she looks more like..." Benjamin lowered his voice, hinting.

Ray glanced at Mia and quickly cut him off, nodding knowingly. "You're not the only one who thinks so."

"Jeremy never suspected? Not even Olivia?"

Ray, aware of Jeremy and Olivia's complicated history, sighed. "Three years ago, Sam used a paternity test to clear things up. Lynn even had an abortion for Jeremy. Do you think they'd suspect anything? They probably wanted to, given their feelings for each other, but fate played a cruel trick. The child is Sam's."

Benjamin sighed deeply. It was all fate.

Looking at Mia, who was confused, Benjamin gently touched her cheek. "Mia, you're so pretty."

"Oscar said men like you are the most flirtatious. I should stay away from you." Mia quickly moved away from him.

Benjamin squinted, speechless. "So, are you Oscar's future wife?"

"What?" Mia was puzzled.

"Don't say such things in front of a child!" Ray reminded him to be careful.

Benjamin stopped joking and crossed his arms, slowly pulling a lollipop from his pocket.

Mia's eyes widened with excitement.

Ray glanced in the rearview mirror, feeling a bit jealous. Benjamin's lively personality always attracted girls, from toddlers to eighty-year-olds. Women loved his mischievous charm and endless tricks.

What about Laura? Did she like Benjamin's tenderness and warmth, too?

His face darkened.

In silence, they arrived at the lakeside apartment.

The dark lawn reflected the moonlit lake, and the apartment's floor-to-ceiling windows were brightly lit, curtains drawn. Jeremy was nowhere to be seen.

But his staff quickly heard the car and came out, looking relieved. "Mr. Ray Martin, Mr. Benjamin Martin, you're finally here. Please go in and check on Mr. DeRoss. I think he's planning something against Olivia..."

Seeing Ray's silencing gesture, the staff member stopped talking.

He then noticed the small figure in the Lamborghini, a little girl in a white dress who looked like a delicate porcelain doll.

"Is she...?" The staff, who had seen Mia a few times, recognized her as Sam's daughter.

Ray, worried about scaring Mia, signaled the staff to be quiet.

He unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car.

Mia, eager to see Jeremy, tried to follow.

Ray frowned and reassured her. "You and Benjamin stay in the car. I'll go talk to Jeremy first, okay?"

If Jeremy was planning to harm Olivia, something serious must have happened. Ray needed to find out first, in case Jeremy took his anger out on Mia.

Mia was too innocent and sweet to be hurt. If Jeremy rejected her, she'd be heartbroken.
