Chapter 801 Trying to Kill Our Children
"Alright." Lawrence pulled the car over.
Sidney said, "Oscar said it, and you immediately went to buy it!"
"Shut up, I promised you, what more do you want?" Lawrence forced himself to endure.
Lawrence, with his tall frame, got out of the car and turned back to instruct them, "It's too much trouble to take you down. Stay in the car and don't wander off. I'll be back in two minutes."
"Okay!" Sidney smiled.
Lawrence had just taken a big step into the mall when his phone suddenly buzzed. It was a message from Ray, who had been keeping an eye on the Peterson Family. Ray's message was urgent: [Lawrence, the kids are in danger!]
A wave of shock and fear instantly enveloped Lawrence's heart.
He abruptly turned and sprinted out of the mall, racing back to the car.
"Daddy, where's my model?" Sidney was mumbling when a black car behind them suddenly rammed into Lawrence's car with full force!
"Get out, quick!"
Lawrence growled, quickly pulling the two kids out of the car. Sidney and Oscar were both stunned. Before they could react, the car was violently flipped by a massive force.
Even though Lawrence's Range Rover was sturdy, it was crushed by the truck behind it, spinning several times before crashing into the concrete barrier in the middle of the road, smashing it down and leaving the car completely wrecked.
Lawrence's eyes widened with fear, imagining that if the kids had still been in the car, they wouldn't have survived.
Sidney looked at Lawrence's car and burst into tears, wailing loudly.
Even Oscar, usually so calm, had a pale, terrified face.
If Lawrence hadn't pulled them out in time, he and Sidney would have been crushed like the car.
"Come to Daddy!" Lawrence's face darkened, quickly hugging his sons and rushing into the nearby mall.
The truck driver, seeing the situation, immediately abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Lawrence glared after him but didn't give chase. Protecting the kids was the priority.
Moreover, it was daytime, and the road had surveillance cameras. The police should be able to catch the guy quickly.
Soon, someone on the road called the police.
The police arrived quickly. Lawrence went out to give a statement, while Sidney hid at the mall entrance, immediately calling Winnie on his phone watch.
He cried as he dialed, "Mommy, come quickly."
Winnie was startled by his crying, "Sidney, didn't Lawrence pick you up? What happened?"
"A truck just crashed into us. Oscar and I almost died! Luckily, Daddy pulled us out in time. We're in the mall now. It's so scary." Sidney sobbed, gasping for breath.
Winnie was terrified, her mind in chaos, "Sidney, don't cry. Let your dad take the phone! Which mall are you at?"
"Daddy is talking to the police. We're at Heritage Plaza." Sidney couldn't stop crying.
Winnie, worried sick about her sons, was frantic, "You and Oscar don't be scared. Mommy will be there soon."
As she spoke on the phone, Rock, who was driving, gripped the steering wheel tightly, a shadow of malice flashing in his gentle eyes, "What happened, Winnie? Did something happen to Sidney and Oscar? Where are they? Let's get there quickly."
"Yes, at Heritage Plaza." Winnie's mind was a mess as she gave the address.
Rock's car quickly drove over, but the road was already blocked by the police, and they couldn't get through.
At the roadblock, Winnie unbuckled her seatbelt and rushed out, "I'll go by myself."
Without waiting for Rock's response, she ran into the crowd.
Rock stared at her back, slamming his fist on the steering wheel, and dialed a number with a dark expression, "You idiots, why did you fail again? Those two kids aren't dead?"
"Mr. Harrington, Lawrence ran out of the mall too quickly. He might have seen the car coming and immediately pulled the kids out." The person on the other end explained.
"Idiots." Rock cursed furiously, "Did you clean up the mess?"
"Don't worry, Mr. Harrington, no problem."
Rock was still furious. He had hired professional killers from Mars, yet they failed again, wasting another opportunity and resources. Why was Lawrence so hard to kill?
Winnie squeezed into the accident scene and saw the completely wrecked Range Rover, the car Lawrence had been driving recently. She was horrified; the car was almost entirely destroyed.
"Mommy!" Sidney saw her and, holding Oscar's hand, ran into her arms.
"Mommy, we almost never saw you again." Oscar, usually so composed, clung to Winnie's arm, his voice trembling, "This time, it's all thanks to Lawrence."
It was rare to hear Oscar speak positively about Lawrence. Winnie's face tightened, and she felt grateful to Lawrence. If it weren't for his quick reaction, she might never have seen her children again.
"Winnie." Lawrence left the police and walked over to her with large strides, his deep eyes filled with apology, "I'm sorry I didn't protect the kids well and let them face such danger."
"Why did this happen? Was it a sudden accident?" Winnie stared in horror at the scene on the road, recalling Sierra's recent car accident.
Why another car accident?
In less than a month, people she knew had either disappeared or been in car accidents. The frequent incidents made her wary and fearful.
This couldn't be a coincidence, could it? Was it deliberate?
Was someone targeting her or Lawrence?
Lawrence frowned at her, with the kids around, it wasn't convenient to say much. He put his arm around her, "Let's take the kids away from here first, send them back to the Rodriguez Villa. I need to go to the police station to cooperate with the investigation later."
Winnie glanced at her sons' pale faces and understood, her heart heavy.
The road was blocked, no cars could get in. Lawrence squatted down, picked up Sidney with one arm, and held Oscar with the other, walking straight ahead. The crowd instinctively made way for him.
Winnie watched his imposing back, the kids so safe in his arms, she was lost in thought for a few seconds.
She quickly caught up with him, even forgetting that Rock was still waiting outside.
It wasn't until they got into the Bentley that Bryan drove over that Winnie remembered to send Rock a message, telling him to go back first.
She held her two sons tightly, comforting the frightened children all the way.
After sending the kids back to the Rodriguez Villa, Winnie went to the police station with Lawrence.
After parking the car, Lawrence turned to her with a stern expression, "Winnie, it was an attempted murder. The other party's goal was probably to kill our children."
"What?" Winnie's eyes widened, her face changing color.
