Chapter 197 Darcy is Owed an Apology.

Lawrence R recalled that the hospital's surveillance cameras had mysteriously stopped working...

He stared at Darcy attentively and said, "The night when my functioning neurological disorder acted up, you cured my insomnia. I slept well and woke up clear-headed the next day.

But when I went to the United States last week, you couldn't cure my insomnia again. There's also a peculiar situation... whenever I'm with Winnie, I can fall asleep immediately. Why is that?"

Darcy felt a wave of panic. His functioning neurological disorder had acted up that night when he was with Winnie.

Was he implying that he slept well again last night because Winnie was with him?

Damn it! Darcy cursed inwardly. It could be that when Winnie saved him four years ago, he formed a dependency on her which is now linked to his sleep.

Lawrence R rubbed his brow. "I don't mean anything else, but I find your treatments for me sometimes effective and sometimes not..."

"L!" Darcy's hand, hidden in her sleeve, clenched tightly. She tried to maintain composure and feigned distress.

"You're falsely accusing me. Insomnia is a worldwide problem with no solution. I'm glad that I can make you fall asleep sometimes and not other times. Perhaps it's related to your mood on a particular day." Darcy continued.

"I'm currently researching your insomnia problem. You said Winnie can make you fall asleep, is that correct?"

Lawrence R nodded. It was indeed peculiar since Winnie wasn't the girl who saved him four years ago. It was Darcy. But why did he...

Darcy noticed the change in Lawrence R's gaze and hinted, "L, don't forget that Winnie deliberately approached you. She had to find a way to please you and make you trust her. What if she used some means to force you to fall asleep?"

Lawrence R was taken aback.

Darcy continued, "Winnie mentioned that she is also skilled in Dry Needling. You know, there are some uncanny techniques in that field. Even if I wanted to make you fall asleep, I wouldn't use them, but she might." The insinuation was enough to draw a clear line between good and bad, and Winnie was clearly the bad party in this situation.

Darcy Deliberately added, "I'm not assuming the worst of her, but she is even capable of humiliating me through photos. Just think about it, she could definitely do something like that."

By bringing up the incident with the photos, Darcy cast doubt on Winnie’s character. Implying that Winnie had done something wrong and that she could not be trusted in general.

Lawrence R's expression became uncertain. He said, "I have a functioning neurological disorder, as you mentioned, and you said we should observe it. But Winnie has been giving me medication, and I feel like it's helping."

Darcy put on a calm, yet somewhat bitter smile and said, "If you feel her medication is working, I'm happy for you. Everyone has different treatment methods. Maybe it's a kind of mental recovery drug she is giving you."

She believed that Winnie's medication was nothing more than a supplement. Lawrence R, not familiar with medicine, shook his head and said, "I already took it today."

Darcy cursed Winnie in her mind. She needed to find a way to steal and analyze her medication.

Now, Lawrence R seemed uncertain about whether Darcy had actually saved him that night at the hospital, considering she couldn't cure his insomnia.

Darcy had no choice but to use her last move. "L, four years ago, I saved your life. I am confident about your illness. Maybe Winnie just happened to help you."

Just the thought of four years ago softened Lawrence R's gaze. Darcy had saved his life, and he shouldn't have doubted her.

Winnie's medication perhaps only played a supporting role now, but Darcy had saved him when he was on the brink of destruction... He changed the subject. "You should eat first."

"You just doubted me, and I felt greatly wronged. Now you want to feed me..." Darcy finally breathed a sigh of relief, seeing that her explanations had worked.

She intentionally couldn't raise her wrist. Understanding her weakness, Lawrence R didn't refuse and scooped a spoonful of porridge, handing it to her.

Darcy leaned towards him; her red lips slightly parted as she looked at him. She purposefully let a drop escape onto her lips, saying, "Oops... I made a mess."

Lawrence R turned to get a wet wipe.

However, Darcy held onto his thumb and wiped the drop away from her lips in a sudden intimate gesture.
Lawrence R froze.

Darcy immediately apologized innocently, sticking out her tongue. "Sorry, L! I grew up with my mother, and I'm used to this. I forgot you have a cleanliness obsession..."

Lawrence R thought that she probably didn't do it on purpose. He leaned over and said coldly, "It's okay, I'll do it."

For a moment, the two of them were in close proximity, the man's sturdy figure... enveloped her. Smelling his captivating scent, Darcy blushed.

Just then, the door to the hospital room suddenly opened, Winnie walked in carrying a large bag and witnessed this scene.

The man had his back turned to her, as if embracing Darcy, maybe even kissing... and he was carefully wiping Darcy’s mouth.

Over Lawrence R's arm, Darcy smirked, her voice soft and feeble, "Miss Anderson, you're here."

Lawrence R turned around and saw Winnie, instinctively removing his hand from Darcy's lips.
Suddenly noticing the woman's particularly cold expression, he felt that his actions were unnecessary.

"Why did you call me out?" Winnie forcefully ignored the discomfort caused by their scene and coldly stared at him.

What's with this attitude? Lawrence R's handsome face also turned cold, and he continued to feed Darcy.

Thinking about the incident with the photos, he was furious with this woman, his tone growing even colder, "Did you deliberately upset Darcy and bring her to the hospital? What were you thinking, taking those kinds of pictures? Apologize to her!"

Winnie hadn't expected that Darcy would put on an act, laying in the hospital and making Lawrence R so worried. But why should she apologize? She thought.

Winnie looked at this man who couldn't distinguish right from wrong and sarcastically said, "What did I do wrong? Miss Ordelia kept calling last night, so I simply showed her the truth. Didn't you force me?"

"Winnie, don't try to defend the indefensible," Lawrence R looked at her sharp mouth.

At his words, Darcy started crying.
A trace of embarrassment flashed across Lawrence R's face as he walked over to restrain Winnie, his anger diminishing, "Do you really want to reveal all the details, shameless woman! That's enough, she's sick, don't provoke her anymore!"

"You care for her so much?" Unable to hold back her bitterness, Winnie looked at his concerned expression with immense disappointment.

At the summit, he treated her so heartlessly, showed no pity for her last night, venting his anger. But today, he was so attentive to Darcy.

Winnie also told herself that he hates her now and is intentionally being cold to her, so she should endure it and win back his heart.

But... sometimes it's just too painful.

She couldn't help but sarcastically mock, "You're the one who made her so angry that she ended up in the hospital pretending to be sick, Mr. L. If anyone should apologize, it's you. Miss Ordelia trapped me at the summit, and last night I simply retaliated."

As soon as Darcy heard this, she became anxious. Winnie was accusing her of faking illness
and bringing up the summit. She immediately leaned towards Lawrence R,

"L, she's not here to apologize sincerely. She's defaming me instead. I didn't frame her, why is she saying this?"

Winnie sneered at Darcy’s cunning ways.

Lawrence R looked at Winnie and asked, "You keep saying she harmed you at the summit. Do you have any evidence?"
