Chapter 694 Wait for Me a Few Days
Three years back, during their last chill dinner, Lawrence was behind her, burning up with a fever, showing her the ropes. Ever since, every time Winnie whipped up that dish, she couldn't shake the memory of Lawrence's hot breath on her neck.
'How do I keep zoning out like this?'
Winnie snapped back to reality, dishing out a bowl for Rock. "Eat up. You've been losing weight with all that overtime."
Olivia nearly choked on her food.
Winnie shot her a look. "What's up with you today? Even Oscar doesn't make a mess like that."
'Winnie, you're killing me here. Do you really think he's losing weight from working late? He just got done hooking up with his side chick! Winnie doesn't suspect a thing about Rock. But I can't blame her; Rock's a pro at hiding it. If I hadn't stumbled upon Sierra, I'd be in the dark too,' Olivia thought.
"With your awesome dinners every day, I'll pack the weight back on soon," Rock said with a smooth wink, then sighed. "The Harrington Group's been going hard at the market lately, so I've been swamped. But no matter how tough it gets, I'm fighting for us. Winnie, I love you, and I want our home to thrive. That's why I pitched a big collab between the Harrington Group and the Blanchet family. It's gonna be a powerhouse team-up."
Olivia almost gagged at his over-the-top words. If she hadn't seen him and Sierra hooking up at the hotel, she might've bought it. And Rock had the nerve to suggest a collab between the Harrington Group and the Blanchet family.
Olivia's heart raced as she chimed in with a sly smile, "Mr. Harrington, your motives are pretty clear. How long have you been married to Winnie, and you're already trying to get your hands into the Blanchet family?"
Rock was caught off guard, not expecting Olivia to come at him like that.
He thought Olivia had warmed up to him recently.
"Ms. Smith, what are you getting at? I have no plans to meddle in the Blanchet family. Don't get it twisted," Rock said, forcing a polite grin.
Olivia saw right through his fake smile, her cold sneer hidden inside. "Just kidding. Why so touchy, Mr. Harrington? Got something to hide?"
Rock's face shifted slightly, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her.
Olivia played with her food, still poking at him. "Winnie, you think Rock's losing weight from being busy. But to me, he looks more alive and kicking lately. I usually don't pay much attention to him, but take a closer look. Doesn't he seem extra peppy, like he's glowing from love?"
Rock's eyes narrowed even more.
Winnie didn't catch Olivia's drift. She felt some tension from Olivia but was still puzzled. She glanced at Rock and smiled. "Olivia, Rock's always been like this. Stop talking about him; you're the life of the party here."
Olivia pouted, thinking Winnie wasn't even considering the possibility.
"Exactly, how else could I be? Ms. Smith, your comments are getting more amusing. Besides, I'm not old, am I? Shouldn't I be full of energy?" Rock raised an eyebrow, faking sincerity.
Olivia took a sip of soup, swallowing her sarcasm, and turned to Winnie. "You haven't even locked down your spot in the Blanchet family yet. Don't jump into big projects, or the shareholders might think you're not cut out to be a junior director. I'd wait until Carlos wakes up before deciding on the collab with Mr. Harrington."
Winnie was on the same page, but she couldn't just shut Rock down; they were married, after all.
She nodded and said, "Carlos should wake up soon anyway."
Rock's eyes darkened as he gave Olivia a long look, thinking, 'What's up with Olivia tonight, throwing shade and badmouthing me out of nowhere?'
After dinner, Lena and Elliott took care of the kitchen and table.
Winnie chatted with Oscar for a bit while Olivia stayed put, sitting there alone.
Winnie glanced at Rock, who was on the phone out on the lawn, and noticed Olivia staring at him.
"Olivia, why haven't you headed home yet? Mia must be looking for you." Winnie walked over, unable to resist asking, "Why are you watching Rock?"
"Just watching him make a call. Who do you think he's calling, looking all smooth?" Olivia hinted with a half-smile.
Winnie glanced at Rock in the night. She usually didn't pay him much attention and didn't think much of it now. "He's always friendly."
"Yeah, he's always friendly, so no one knows what he's really thinking. Winnie, don't you think a guy like that is actually kinda scary? You told me before," Olivia leaned in, lowering her sharp voice, "that he didn't mind you sleeping with Lawrence after marriage, as long as you were safe, and you were really touched. But does he really think that? Does he really not care about your chastity? I heard guys like virgins."
Winnie felt a pang of anxiety, recalling her conversation with Bentley about the video, and asked, "Olivia, do you think Rock is lying?"
Olivia sneered, rubbing her fingers. "I didn't say that. If he really has a problem, there will be evidence!"
'Sierra said Rock went to a private club yesterday. I'm pretty good at hacking, so I'm gonna find out which club he went to and keep tabs on him. I'm determined to get proof of his cheating and lying to Winnie! Then, Winnie will have no argument. I need to make Winnie see the real, scary Rock ASAP. His talk of collaboration tonight might be a plan to fully take over the Blanchet family. Once he does, he might kick Winnie out and even seek revenge on her,' Olivia thought.
Olivia trembled all over. She stood up and said strangely, "I heard from Sidney that you haven't shared a room with him yet. That's good, Winnie. Just follow your heart. Wait for me for a few days."
"What are you talking about?" Winnie blushed with embarrassment, completely clueless about her words.
Olivia patted Winnie on the shoulder and left.
Winnie felt that Olivia suddenly had an opinion about Rock. The thing was, Winnie was also investigating Rock but hadn't had the chance to tell Olivia.
She decided to wait for Bentley's news first.
Oscar, hiding on the sofa, watched Olivia's serious expression, a dark glint in his eyes.
'Is Olivia talking to Winnie about something related to Rock? What does waiting a few days mean? Unfortunately, I have important matters to do and no time to figure out what Olivia is up to,' Oscar thought.
In Ray's villa.
Lawrence, burning with a high fever, had been asleep for a long time and woke up after dark.
His door opened, and a small figure walked in, red-eyed, carrying a bowl of medicine.
Lawrence opened his eyes painfully, his voice hoarse and surprised, "Sidney, why are you here?"
