Chapter 280 Darcy's Pursuit

"If I were to publicize these explicit photos of you bothering your ex-wife, I wonder how your Darcy would feel. Would she be heartbroken and jealous? With our marriage certificate, coupled with the pictures suggesting we slept together, will your upcoming wedding next month still go smoothly?"

Lawrence R looked at the revealing photos, his face turning pitch black. Darcy must never lay eyes on these.

The woman had a cold and sharp demeanor, and he felt that the tender and romantic moments from last night were completely gone.

It was apparent that she had tricked and deceived him! She had used her advantages.

Fists clenched, he demanded, "Tell me your purpose!"

"I want you to release your control over Lymington Prison and allow me to visit my uncle. I won't allow the hidden forces of the Ordelia family to interfere anymore!"

"Don't slander Darcy. She's not interested in scheming against your uncle like you are. Unlike you, she doesn't stoop so low and disgust people!" Lawrence R's words dripped with sarcasm.

Winnie sarcastically remarked, "Once the truth about my uncle's case comes to light, you'll know whether I slandered your scheming bitch or not. Stop wasting time, are you going to make this deal or not? If not, I'll contact the media outlets in Lymington."

With that, Winnie was about to take out her phone.

Looking at her ruthless appearance, Lawrence R's gaze turned icy and he felt an overwhelming sense of disgust.

He must have been blind to think that he had seen a different side of her just now. What kind of heart could this woman possibly have?

At this moment, he realized his foolishness from last night. Why had he shown pity towards a drunkard? Why had he indulged in his impulsive desires, giving her an opportunity to take advantage of him? She was only here to threaten him, and he was the one caught up in the chaos.

This despicable woman might even make a joke out of him while he was lost in desire.

With these thoughts in mind, a cold and gloomy expression appeared on Lawrence R's face. He got up, wrapped himself in a robe, and walked towards Winnie with long strides.

With his immense strength, he grabbed her delicate neck.

"What are you doing, Lawrence R..." Winnie didn't expect this jerk to resort to violence and struggled to free herself from his grasp.

"You thought you could scheme against me without considering the consequences?" Lawrence R's slender fingers tightened, exuding a dangerous aura, until she could barely breathe.

He abruptly released his grip, his eyes filled with cold disdain.

"Fine. As a condition for our deal, you will willingly get a divorce certificate. Don't ever cause trouble with our marriage certificate again and make Darcy unhappy. Listen carefully, resolve the matter with your uncle, and it would be best for you to leave Lymington with your divorce certificate in hand. Forget about Triton, it belongs to Darcy now.”

“If you don't leave, don't blame me for showing no mercy." His eyes gleamed with ruthlessness.

Winnie couldn't help but shiver, a cold and mocking laughter echoed in her heart. For Darcy's sake, he was willing to take measures to drive her out of Lymington.

"Alright, I'll exchange the divorce certificate for a visit to the prison, deal." Winnie sneered, seemingly unaffected.

However, she smiled again, coyly passing by him, "But how will you handle it? Your Darcy is going to be continuously unhappy, I'm afraid."

Lawrence R furrowed his brows, about to ask what she meant by that.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed.

He walked back to the bedside, picked it up, and saw that it was Darcy's call. She had made numerous calls last night too.

A tight feeling formed in Lawrence R's forehead as he realized that he had almost gotten intimate with this woman last night. Regret and guilt filled his mind.

Squeezing his forehead tightly, Lawrence R put on his jacket, not even sparing a glance at Winnie, and walked out, slamming the door.

It was only after he got in the hotel elevator that he furrowed his brows and returned the call, taking a shallow breath, "Darcy, what's wrong?"

"Mr. L, you promised me last night that you would come back home, but you didn't. I've been worried sick..." Darcy's delicate voice carried a hint of grievance.

Lawrence R felt a tinge of apology, softening his voice, "I'm sorry, something came up last night, and I was delayed, so I didn't come home..."

"I heard people saying that you didn't come back home because of Winnie, is it because of her?" Darcy cautiously asked.

Lawrence R's footsteps halted, his guilt mixing with vagueness as he replied, "Of course not because of her! I went to the company and rested there. Don't think too much, after the meeting, I'll come home immediately to see you and our son."

Darcy hid under the hotel veranda, watching his figure enter the car. She almost gritted her teeth as she forced a smile, "Alright."

"Oh, Mr. L, there's a big problem with Triton. Mr. Powell suddenly announced this morning that Triton won't be sold to you or me, and he wants to continue freezing the assets. Do you know about this?"

"How is that possible?" Lawrence R sneered coldly. "I called him yesterday and clearly instructed him to complete the procedures so that you could become the CEO today."

"But the news broke early this morning, and I saw it too. I couldn't help feeling puzzled. Mr. L, I looked into it, and it seems that Winnie used some means to threaten Mr. Powell!"

"What?" Lawrence R's expression turned cold, caught off guard.

"Mr. L, quickly look at the news. Winnie's actions are obviously targeting me... and in front of the Lymington commercial district, she has made you lose face!" Darcy angrily said.

Lawrence R hung up the phone and immediately checked the news on his phone. His face suddenly darkened.

Only then did he realize that Mr. Powell had also called him many times last night.

With cold anger, Lawrence R dialed back, "Mr. Powell, do you dare to defy my orders? Don't you want the position of the auction company chairman?"

Mr. Powell was in agony, but compared to losing his position, exposing the scandal involving another man would lead to the end of his marriage and family.

Mr. Powell could only grit his teeth and offend Lawrence R, "Mr. L, Winnie has leverage over me with my scandal. Moreover, under normal auction procedures, Triton did indeed repay the company first. If she were to sue, her chances of winning are high. I... I have a few things here, so I'll hang up now."

Mr. Powell, terrified, hung up first.

"... “Lawrence R angrily threw his phone out of the car window.

He had underestimated this woman. He didn't expect Winnie to resort to such dirty tactics and threaten Mr. Powell to defy his orders.

Thinking about the news released this morning, she must have gone to Mr. Powell last night.

That damn woman not only calculated against him but also left him to deal with that old bastard, Mr. Powell.

Thinking this, his anger grew even stronger.

-

The Bentley raced out from the hotel. Darcy's chilling figure appeared, clenching his fists and looking towards the hotel lobby.

Winnie was carrying her bag, dressed neatly, calmly checking out and walking down the steps.

"Winnie!" Suddenly, a voice called out from behind her.

Winnie turned her head, not yet able to see clearly when a slap came at her fiercely!

But she reacted quickly, swiftly turning her head to dodge and reaching out to stop that malicious arm.
Winnie glanced upward and finally saw Darcy's face that seemed almost distorted.

Looking at her drenched complexion and then back at the hotel, thinking about Lawrence R who had left just moments earlier... Winnie suddenly understood.

She couldn't help but sneer, "Miss Ordelia, good morning. You came to find Lawrence R, right? He just left. Didn't you see?"
