Chapter 171 The Rodriguez Family's Pressure
"Please quickly give me the injection. My headache is unbearable!" Lawrence R struggled to endure the pain.
Before he could finish speaking, his right hand suddenly began to tremble, and he unconsciously grabbed onto Darcy's throat, his grip tightening. With boundless rage, he lifted her off the ground.
"L... What are you doing, Mr. L!" Darcy's face turned pale with fear.
She had never seen a man so consumed by madness and bloodlust. In this state he seemed so unfamiliar, stripped of his usual grace and elegance. He resembled a dangerous, untamed predator, and Darcy didn't like him in this state.
She grew even more frightened! She valued her life greatly. When she entered the room, she wanted to show off in front of Winnie, to demonstrate how important she was to Mr. L in front of Benjamin and the others.
however, she didn't know how to save him! If this continued, he might strangle her in his madness.
He couldn't recognize people anymore!
Darcy quickly turned her eyes and grabbed a vase, smashing it on his head while he was in pain. Seizing the opportunity, she immediately injected him with a needle in his neck.
The man was forcefully knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.
Kneeling beside him, Darcy wore a frustrated expression. She didn't know what her next move would be; she didn't dare to recklessly needle his brain in case it caused any side effects.
She did not dare jeopardize his intelligence or abilities. She needed a perfect man. Damn it.
Outside the door, Jeremy heard the silence and knocked, "Miss Ordelia, has the treatment been effective? Shall I call in a psychiatrist?"
Darcy's expression changed, her plans disrupted. Before she could refuse, Jeremy had already ushered the doctor in.
The doctor brought his examination equipment and, after a thorough exam, frowned and glanced at Darcy. "Miss, all you did was knock the patient unconscious. But he can't keep on like this. When he wakes up, his condition will worsen. You must started treatment immediately."
Darcy's face grew ridged, unable to mask her chagrin.
Benjamin and Jeremy exchanged a glance, both furrowing their brows as they looked at her. "Why would you hit L?" they asked in concern.
Darcy felt annoyed and tried to explain, “He had just lost control of his senses and attacked me. I had no other option but to do that. Don't worry, I will continue to find a way to cure him."
Benjamin was impatient, concerned about Mr. L. He said irritably, "Are you genuinely capable of handling this?"
"Of course, I can. Just give me some time," Darcy argued.
Jeremy rubbed his temples. "But L doesn't have much time left. The news of his attack at the hospital reached the Rodriguez family. Now the old Mr. Rodriguez and Alan, along with the shareholders of Imperial Financial Group, are coming. They are itching to expose Mr. L's mental illness, hoping to let Alan take control of the Imperial Financial Group!"
"Those despicable people!" Benjamin spat.
At that moment, there was some commotion in the corridor.
Jeremy massaged his temples. He had left two bodyguards to maintain order outside, but it seemed that someone from the Rodriguez family had broken in.
"Go out and see what's happening." He urgently ordered.
Benjamin's face turned cold as he called Ray.
The three of them walked out, and in the late-night corridor, a commotion could be heard.
The noisy chatter filled the room.
Mr. Rodriguez, who was in his sixties, stood upright with a cane, exuding authority. Alan stood beside him, emanating an air of smug confidence.
Following behind them were numerous major shareholders who had pledged their allegiance to Alan.
Mr. Rodriguez spoke insincerely, "I heard Lawrence's mother is seriously ill. I’ve come to pay a visit."
Ray stepped forward, offering a strained smile, "Mr. Rodriguez, Lawrence's mother has been unwell for many years, and we haven't seen any concern from you. Why have you come now?"
"Father heard that Lawrence was affected by Madam Rodriguez's illness and fell sick himself. As a caring father, he came to visit his son. How about it? Can you few stop us?" Alan smirked.
"L is merely resting and asleep. We don't need you and your shareholders to come and visit like this," Jeremy retorted through clenched his teeth.
"Whether Lawrence is just sleeping or having a mental breakdown, I’m well aware. Back then, when he had his episode, he severely harmed the household staff. And today, he injured a doctor. With such dangerous behavior, as his father, I can only send him back to the psychiatric hospital to prevent him from harming others!" Mr. Rodriguez slammed his cane down, declaring his decision.
His heartless words sent Winnie, who was standing far away, boiling with anger.
She had originally heard a commotion upstairs and begged Olivia to go up and take a look. She never expected to encounter Lawrence R's father here, with Alan, attempting to surround the hospital.
An indescribable discomfort gripped Winnie. Madame Rodriguez had said that Lawrence had a difficult life. Even though he was a noble young master, he was never favored and had no money. He had to steal funds just to buy medicine for his mother.
She had only heard about it, unable to truly empathize.
But today, she witnessed it with her own eyes—how his father displayed such favoritism and heartlessness. It felt like her heart was being stabbed.
She felt an intense loathing for him.
He was sick, but his father and brother took advantage of his vulnerability. They didn't care about his illness; they only wanted to seize control of his company!
No wonder he was distrustful, suspicious, and emotionally volatile. He had a lonely heart.
Then she thought of herself. She was even worse. Even though he was already suffering, why did she become the one to add insult to injury?
"Are you still his father, Mr. Rodriguez?" Benjamin couldn't hold back his rage and shouted in anger, "L is not sick, he's perfectly fine! Leave immediately!"
"No one wants to waste their time here. We are here to show the shareholders that Lawrence is incapable of managing the company. The conglomerate can’t remain leaderless for even a day and needs someone at the helm," Mr. Rodriguez said impassively in a deep voice.
"Yes! He's mentally ill. How can he lead us?" one shareholder said, convinced upon seeing the disorder in the ward.
"It seems the rumors about Lawrence R being in a psychiatric hospital before are true," another major shareholder shook his head.
"Currently, there are 400 billion dollars of liquid assets... Stolen by Lawrence R’s wife has become a joke in Lymington. After much effort, Alan recovered the funds and should be in charge of the Imperial Group!"
The shareholders reached a decision.
Alan licked his lips, chuckled lightly, and tapped on his phone a few times.
Suddenly, a group of reporters, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, charged in and started taking pictures in Madame Rodriguez's hospital room.
"Alan, what the fuck are you doing?" Ray's face turned pale with anger as he rushed forward.
Jeremy lowered his glasses and immediately instructed the bodyguards to guard the corridor.
Both sides stood their ground.
Suddenly, there was commotion in the hospital room, and the sound of the door being smashed could be heard, followed by a man's frantic roar.
"Oh no, L is awake!" Benjamin's face changed. "Darcy, quickly go in and calm him down."
They couldn't allow L to come out and be photographed in his distressed state by these reporters!
Darcy was annoyed. How could she dare to go in when L had left a bruise on her neck? Suddenly, Darcy spotted of Winnie in the corner!
She didn't know when Winnie had sneaked in.
Amidst the chaotic crowd and blurred sightlines, Darcy coldly thought that L's illness seemed to depend on Winnie, that wicked woman...
Seizing the opportunity while everyone was distracted, Darcy forcefully pushed Winnie into the hospital room and quickly locked the door!
